I have shopped at the Wine cask since its inception. Im not sure if I will continue to buy my beer and wine there anymore. As I walked into the store from the parking lot I noticed several people walking around with alcohol not bagged. This was odd, I thought I was in another state. I purchased several bottles of beer nad when I got to the cashier I was asked if I wanted a bag, what are kidding me, does management tell these very unhappy employees to save a tree. Im an older guy and a little respect would be nice, Yes Of Course I Want a Bag what do you think I;m gonna do drink it here. We are in the worst economy since the great depression at least act like youre thankful to have a job. The prices are high but they have what you want and Im greatful for that. Wake up and stop asking customers if they want a bag, youre lazy.

One of the best wine shops in the Boston area. Excellent selection of European wine. In particular, they do a solid job of finding quality German Rieslings instead of the flabby stuff one finds in most other stores. They also have a top-notch cheese selection and offer bread from Clear Flour. The wine employees are very knowledgeable and make good recommendations. But, I also like the fact that if I pick a "random" bottle off the shelves (of a region/grape I like), its almost always good, sometimes surprisingly so. The selection is carefully put together to represent quality and value, not to simply push volume. Prices are not low, but they do give case discounts, esp. during their quarterly sale. As another reviewer noted, the selection does seem to be biased toward lively/acidic wines---a plus in my opinion.

I perhaps do not frequent the shop as much as some of the other reviewers as I am only an occasional drinker. However, Ive found the service to be good. I havent found them consistently surly, but more willing to help me find bottles of what Im looking for. When they didnt have what I was looking for in stock, they offered to order it and take my number to let me know when it arrives. (I want a few bottles of a specific wine for a special occasion.) As far as prices go, they are reasonable. This is not a discount liquor store, but a well-stocked specialty store in the city.

Wine and Cheese cask. You are so convenient, I wish you were not overpriced. Things to know (good): Lots of Cheese and friendly employees to suggest them. Wine out the wazzoo (and friendly employees to suggest them). A very good selection of beers to drink Artisan goods. Things to know (bad): Overpriced Prices not listed (this is a double whammy) Although they are friendly the employees can sometimes give you gruff (no hard feelings though, tough job) Smells like stinky cheese.

Shopped there for ten years, bought full cases of good wine at least once a month, and they were STILL surly to me every time I went in. You arent a customer, you are a pain. I know a half dozen people who have stopped patronizing them because the service is so over-the-top rude. I also started shopping elsewhere. They also tend to be overpriced by $3-5 per bottle and the owners taste runs toward the tart and sour.

This place is amazing. It is small, but somehow not too cramped feeling inside. They have a wonderful selection, and the customer service is always on point. I recently went in looking for a cheese to snack on, said maybe a dozen vague words to an employee about what I liked in cheese, and left with my new favorite cheese ever. The staff is always knowledgable, kind, and approachable. This is a lovely store.

We bought all the alcohol for our wedding in October 2011 at Wine & Cheese Cask, and could not recommend them more highly. They worked with us to select wines for our tasting we would like, then provided cases of what we choose at a discount, and took back unopened wine after the wedding. We also bought our beer and hard liquor here. They were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and wed highly recommend them!

My favorite wine shop in Cambridge (and borders Somerville!). Smallish and windy store but very well curated by people who know and love wine, surprisingly large white burgundy selection. Other than wine there is of course some very interesting and delicious local and imported cheese. Also great micro brew and chocolate selection. What more could you want?

Probably the best liquor store in the area (if not, due to its relatively small size, the most comprehensive). They also stock an excellent selection of cheeses and other fine foodstuffs. Some find the staff overly brusque (though thats never been my impression), but dont be afraid to ask about the product, theyre knowledgeable and give excellent advice.

I love this place! Wonderful selection of libations, cheese, and meats. There are always great economy options (for the day to day), as well as reasonably priced fine wines and beers for gifts and special occasions. Ive been shopping here for years, and they are always well stocked. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly as well. #reviewsday

Old school wine and cheese store. Excellent pate as well. They sell clear flour bread, which is the best french bread in the Boston area. Very good selection of Brandy, grappa and cordials. Ok selection of whiskey and tequila. Incredible selection of fortified wines and aperitifs. Cheese selection is the best around. Neighborhood gem.

Although small, every wine at the Wine & Cheese Cask is hand picked and bound to be good. The staff are knowledgebale and eager to help, and they offer a spectacular cheese selection. They are open late as well, which is always a plus. Great place to pick up some wine and cheese for a party, or just to have on hand!

Small store packed with great stuff. As a west-coaster, moving east meant shifting my attention from "local" wines to international wines. The Wine & Cheese Cast has made the transition easy. They must put a great deal of care into which wines they buy and stock, because Ive yet to be disappointed with a purchase.

They have everything you need, whether for a cozy night in or for hosting a party. The wine experts are very helpful and approachable. This place also makes a great sandwich! The only downside is that they close on the earlier side so checking their hours is key so that youre not left high and dry

Someone should explain their cashiers (some of them do know, but the one I had didnt) that they should not alienate a recurring customer over a recently expired ID (plus the temporary ID given when youre waiting for a new one). Will never go here again.

Conveniently located wine and cheese store in between Union and Inman square. They have an extensive wine collection and also liquers. Cheese is also very varied along with other bites to go with your alcohol. There is also parking beside the store.

Ill tell you a secret. This is the best liquor store in Cambridge. Ive found Woodford Reserve here for the same price as Makers Mark at other places. Great selection of craft liquors and beers and picks from local distilleries and breweries.

Great selection and staff is incredibly helpful - just tell them what you like, what you would like to buy, whether youre pairing with something, and your budget and theyll find something perfect!
