If you are looking for a photography class south of Boston try one of Tims classes at Firefly53 studios. Tim made the whole experience fun and informative. There was so much to learn both technically and technique wise but Tim did a great job balancing that line between how to and artistic. I was able to really improve my photography by getting comfortable with the camera so I could focus on my subject and not just what buttons I needed to adjust.. His knowledge and passion comes through in the class. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to get more confidence with your photography..

Ive taken 2 classes with Tim. First came the Beginning Digital Photo class. It was great. I learned about my camera and how to take it off of the auto settings. I now understand about aperture, shutter speed, etc. I also learned how to better frame my shots. The second class for me was Lightroom. It is definitely helpful to have someone guide you through all of the things that Lightroom allows you to do. Tim is able to explain things so that everyone understands, and he makes the class fun. I enjoyed my first two classes and look forward to taking more.

Tims vast experience in digital photography plus his sublime humor made the photo classes a highlight of my week. I learned about rules of composition and when its a good idea to break them. I now know the basics of my newish to me camera (it seemed that Tim knew everything that my manuel would tell me if I read it!) Most importantly to me, I became so much more comfortable with changing depths of field as well as light metering. My photos are far better and require less editing for having been Tims student. I look forward to another round!

Ive taken several course from Tim starting with the Beginners Photography course. I have learned a lot and will take more classes from Tim as they become available appropriate to my improved ability. Whether all you want is an introductory course that will allow you to get the most out of your DSLR or you want to take Fireflys more advanced course, Id be surprised if you were disappointed. If you bought an DSLR with its advanced capability and are only taking snapshots, you should give serious consideration to the Beginners course.

I have taken classes with both Tim & Stephanie. Ive learned so much from the 3 classes and photo walks Ive attended. Tim is very informative, and gives great feedback. He makes it easy to understand, and is a great talent. I upgraded my camera a few years back, after getting the confidence I needed from taking the classes. Ive ventured into portrait photography, and will be taking more classes in the future to keep on learning new tricks. I highly recommend!
