Initially, I was glad to see the Big Y Holden put in a health food/gluten free section. But the happy anticipation was short lived. A number if items that I have bought for years at Big Y are no longer available. Instead of more choice and easier location, I have less. For example, Amys Gluten-free Vegetable Lasagne is no longer available. The Amys products are in the far freezer aisle across the store, but the lasagna is in neither place. Glutino Chocolate-covered Pretzels are no longer there. But there are 5-6 rows of plain Glutino Pretzels. In the frozen section, m favorite Asian-style dumplings are gone. The dumplings now are organic but not gluten-free. There are no frozen gluten-free pies or cobblers. And on and on. I walk into the special section and find an aisle with nothing I buy on either side. That is fine. People buy different things. (The Rice Works chips I buy are still over with the regular chips.) And what happened to the Paul Newman Organic Marinara? It hasnt been anywhere lately. I shop at Big Y and put up with high prices because it is near my home. But I may have to find another market if this reduction in services for organic and gluten-free customers continues. Finally, organic tomatoes and cucumbers should be available every day. They are American diet staples. Organic cucumbers are a rarity at Big Y Holden. OK. Ill stop now. Colleen Sherman

We do all of our grocery shopping here. Its locally owned and the people who work here are very helpful and friendly. We also use the silver club card. For a nominal annual fee we get savings that far outweighs the cost. Yes, its a gimmick but thats everywhere now and the savings are real vs not having the card. The quality of the goods are excellent here too as well as the choices. This particular store also has an extensive selection of beer, wine, and liquor now too.

getting really sick of coming home from big y in Holden and finding rotting produce...unfortunately theyre the only grocery store in town .... and id like to warn others to check their receipts very carefully - my wife and i are always finding things ringing up at regular prices when they are advertised as on sale

The reward coins are truly annoying. Big Y should do away with them and hand out more of the $ off coupons at checkout. Getting $10 off the next purchase is much better than carrying around those useless coins in hopes that there will be an item to use them on.

They are currently redoing the store and they have EVERYTHING now. The produce section is on point with a huge selection that is ripe and tasty. They also serve alcohol at this location. Its great and the staff is very helpful is finding products for you.
