Artists apparently not welcome!! Beware! Im a professional designer and an artist. So naturally I came up with my own design for my second tattoo. I made an appointment with Tina on April 9th. I presented my design and i was told that i had too much detail for such a small place. I went back home and modified my design for my tattoo (about 5"w x 15"h to go on my side). I met with Tina again on April 12, this time she said "The design looks good on paper but wont look right on the body" so I gave her the benefit of the doubt, after all she is the tattoo artist. We agreed that she would take my design and rework it, so I made an appointment for April 29th, and left my $100 deposit. On April 19th I sent her a friendly reminder about the status of the redesign. It took three days to reply saying she would send me something as soon as she came up with something. After two weeks of not seeing anything from the so called professional. I was forced to cancel the appointment on April 26, due to her lack of responsiveness. I stopped by on the 29th to pick up my design and I didnt get any sort of apology or common courtesy. All I got from Tina was a blank face and she said "Thats why, you should do your homework and choose an artist that will be able to do your design" Huh??.... So, I said goodbye and walked out. I was surprised by what she said, and her very little sense of customer service. This "artist" definitely has a lot to learn. You dont treat clients like that, she missed out on a $650 piece. Luckily I had a plan B and had already met with another artist from another shop, who loves my design and Im scheduled to get it this weekend.

I drove to Bethesda to reserve my appointment and have a consultation. They told me the artist I wanted was out that day so I couldnt have a consultation. So I booked my day for the tattoo a couple months in advance and scheduled my consultation with Leam. I came back for my consultation and I had my design already. Leam seemed to half listen to me. He told me to go home and put black outlines on my design (a watercolor tattoo) and to imagine it a lot bigger. (Its a radish and 3 short words) I went home and edited the design and even photoshopped it onto my arm to show size (half my forearm), and emailed it in. I got no response. I called the parlor and asked if they had gotten my email. They said they had and had forwarded it to Leam. They said if he had not responded then it was fine. I show up today, Leam asks me why Im here, "Because I have an appointment with you?" He says he sent me an email saying he couldnt do the tattoo today, looks at his phone, and says darn it didnt send! I took 4 hours off work! So did my husband! We ask why he cant do it, its such a simple tattoo! and he says because of our interaction! I have been nothing but sweet this whole time! Then Leam says because Im not a tattoo artist and think everything is simple. I was completely distressed that going there again and again and again left me with nothing when other tattoo artists had looked at my design and called it simple, easy, and straightforward. What a waste of time, money, and gas.

Im a bit of a health freak, I always make sure that places are clean and the environment doesnt make me want to hide under a table. BTC is always helpful and friendly. The staff really look at your designs and requests and let you know their recommendations before just doing what you say and leaving you unhappy, this applies to both their piercer and tattoo artists. Ive gotten 2 tattoos and my navel pierced from BTC and no incidents ever. No infection, improper inking, mistakes, accidents, nothing of the sort. Ive even brought friends for piercings and tattoos. The shop is clean, kept in pristine condition and well-lit. They know their crafts, they interact with you so that youre not nervous or awkward while being tattooed or pierced. Everyone is professional while being light-humored. I recommend this place wholeheartedly to anybody looking for piercings or tattoos, they do both with excellent skill.

The people were quite nice, but the experience was not great. I will not be going back. Intitally, I spoke with someone on the phone about coming in that day - I specifically asked if I needed to make an appointment or anything. I was told that it was no problem, and no appointment was necessary. When I arrived, I was told that all the artists are busy. I felt totally jerked around. But I really wanted to get my tattoo, so being the eternal optimist that I am I made an appointment with one of the artists for the next week. I left work early to meet with this guy, and of course I paid for parking again, and in the end it was not worth it. While he was nice, he did not really understand what I wanted. If you have lots of time to waste, certainly check out this studio, but if efficiency is your game go somewhere else.

I went to Bethesda Tattoo to get a tattoo. I called to get some information and decided to walk-in. I was told that the artist I had chosed would be available 2 1/2 hours later for a consultation. I came back at the time and wasnt seen until 40 mins after the appointment time, and even then was not seen by the artist I requested. I was initially told that the foot tattoo I wanted could not be done, but was then told that it could be done but they couldnt gurantee the work. I was told that I could make another appointment where they would draw what I requested, then if I liked it, I could make another appointment to have the work done. I decided to look elsewhere. In my short time there it appears that they lack both customer service and talent. I will not be returning to Bethesda Tattoo.

My viking brother James did an amazing full back piece on me years ago and he has been my one and only artist for years now. If you want a great conversation about all aspects of life, James is your man. You will leave the shop with exactly what you wanted and more. James and I have worked on my body for years and I couldnt be happier. We have an understanding that I respect his work so much, that I give him an idea and he creates a masterpiece. Only problem is we are running out of space. My next art work from James will be a picture of my grandfather from when he was young on my chest. Its going to be sick. Bethesda Tattoo, hands down best shop in DC! Scottie "Viking" D

I went here for my second tattoo. Loved how clean it was! My favorite thing about Bethesda Tattoo is that you can tell the artists care about their art and are genuinely interested in giving you the best experience. For only doing tattoos professionally for 4 years, Adams work was extremely impressive. It was great feeling that I can go in for my tat and trust that the artist totally understands what I want, especially since my design was a little complicated. I love the end result and I had fun during the process of getting my tattoo. My boyfriend recommended the place after going to Steve, and both he and I are going back to Bethesda Tattoo for more later this year.
