Ill admit I havent tried anything else here except the Meatball sub. But dont hold that against me, because its awfully difficult to visit Mastellones without leaving with a meatball sub. These are, by far, the best meatball subs youll get in the Baltimore area. The sub cost $7.95, but it WILL fill you up. These things are enormous! They hollow out a 1/2 loaf of Italian bread and fill it with delicious meatballs, sauce, and a ton of gooey home-made mozzarella cheese. Theres cheese in the middle, along the sides, and down at the bottom of the hollowed out loaf. The biggest problem with this sub is attempting to eat it. Unless youre part hippopotamus, your mouth will probably not open wide enough. Which means youll be in for a sloppy mess as you try to take bites along the sides. But thats ok, eating a meatball sub is SUPPOSED to be sloppy! As for the rest of the store, they have some really nice looking meats and cheeses in their display cases, and one of these days Im going to give them a try. But for now, Ill just keep stuffing myself with those delicious meatball subs!

Excellent local Italian deli with fresh Italian cold cuts, cheeses, and desserts. Excellent wine selection. Also carry ready made italian dishes like lasagna etc. The sandwiches are wonderful!!!..try the original italian cold cut on thier fresh bread made daily!!..also the customer service is amazing!!.super friendly and ready to help you..I go here at least twice a week!!

Mastellones... makes my mouth water just thinking about the place. Why buy 1/2 ounce of thin sliced prosciutto for $10 when you can buy a large knuckles worth for the whole family for the same price. Par cooked rolls that cant be bought anywhere else in B-more that make their sandwiches better than anything else in the city. I think Ill have to go again today.

Bread is perfect. Meats and cheeses are of excellent quality. They actually care about the product they put out. Get the Old World Italian for the most flavorful Italian ever or get the Porketta for a roasted pork sandwhich that is as good as any pork sandwhich anywhere from Philly to Rome. (And they have wine!!!!!!!!!)

Love this place. Reminds me of some of my favorite delis in New York. Delicious food and a decent wine collection for such a small shop. The Italian Cold Cut and the Meatball Sub are worth a try. (Or many tries.) Lots of imported Italian goods to buy. Really charming. A place where you can order "the usual."

The best Italian cold cuts. Used to go to the Mediterranean shop down the street, but they closed and I couldnt find anything like it for the longest time. Little did I know a better version was just a few blocks down. This place knows how to do it right, and their mozzarella is fantastic.

If you like your sandwiches made with good crusty homemade Italian bread...this is your place. My two favorites are the savory Old World Italian and the Meatball with extra sauce. Prices are very reasonable. Street parking is usually ok but at times can be a bit tricky.

Have been going to this store for 50 years! Change in ownership has not changed the friendly service, the wonderful variety of fresh cheeses, charcuterie, pasta, imported DESERTS and sweets, and delicious selection of wines. A must for winter holiday shopping!
