Went on Saturday to adopt a cat (first time adopter). Saw a couple of cats, but was told that an appointment was waiting and that we needed to fill out an application. Filled out the application and my wife took it during the day today (Tuesday). She had two cats she liked and was told that they could hold only one. They let her play with the cats and said that I could play with the cats and see which one to hold until an appointment this weekend. I drive 45 minutes roundtrip on a special trip, get there and look for help. I find this woman with a scowl on her face, but she was the only one around. I explained the situation and she told me I coudnt play with the cats! Then she tells me that she is in fact the manager. All I wanted to do was play with the cats for 10 minutes and see which one I liked more. Nope, forget that the other employee said I should come by, or that my wife had already played with the cats. Forget that I had an approved application Touching the cats was not allowed. I asked for my application back, and made a decision not to buy anything at Petsmart in the future. This manager had no smile, had no personal manner, and kept a cat from having a good home. How can you be the store manager like this? She seemed older, so maybe she has more "experience." I recommend getting someone that is nicer, friendlier, and loves animals (and you know, wants them to go to an approved happy home) - even if they are younger. - The application said approved at the top when I got it back-

This is a decent, big-box store for buying the big-label pet food and other pet supplies. I have not used PetSmart for any of their other services such as grooming or veterinary services so I cant speak to those. As far as the store goes, like stated, its decent. The selection is pretty good for what they offer and prices seem to be reasonable. Service, on the other hand, can be a mixed bag depending on the day you go in. Ive come in here on weekends and there might be quite a few associates working the floor, and everyone of them will ask if you need any assistance. Sometimes the same associate will ask you a few times throughout your visit. On one hand thats good that these folks are available should I need any help, but I dont need to be "hounded" constantly. When Ive come in on weekdays, there seem to be much fewer associates on the floor so Im not getting bombarded with "Do you need any help?", but on the flipside of that, it does make it harder to find someone if I *do* need help. When checking out, no matter what day it is, there only seems to be one register regularly open. Only when the line for this register backs up to 6+ people deep do they call for additional cashiers to assist. And then once the line gets down, the additional registers close and theyre back down to one register being open.

Now, I understand that Petsmart is pretty much the Walmart of the pet world and, as such, their hiring practices are less than stellar, but we just got asked to leave the "groomers" because my dog barked at another dog. Yes, she has a little leash aggression with other dogs, but once shes on the table, shes fine. We had gone to Petsmart numerous times and never had an issue. All of a sudden, my dog barks and growls, and we are refused service. Worse, still, is that the asinine groomer that made the call didnt even see what was happening. He was in the back of the room. Our other dog came up in the system as "not allowed back" which was a total surprise to us as we were not told this on our last visit so we have no idea why. So how are we supposed to address it? Anyway, it all worked out for the better, in the end, because we found Canine Clips and that place is AWESOME! Walk in nail trims, and they KNOW dogs and dog behavior. Our dogs were in and out in less than 15 mins. Petsmart, please put both our dogs on your "not allowed back" list. You can also add mine and my girlfriends name, as we are done with you. Absolute junk and extremely under qualified staff. One day, you may become real groomers...one day. One star only because I have to put one.

This is a bad review but I know if I put one star no one would see it. I came in yesterday to adopt a kitten with my friend. The very first time they told me no one was here for me to fill out an adoption paper. I came the next day and they let me. I spoke to a guy and he was very nice and helpful and told me I could place my kitten I wanted on hold. I told him I would be here at 12pm they very next day to finish the adoption. I came here a half hour early and waited for 20 minutes to be told my appointment was made for 4pm which I have work at 3pm and made it very clear yesterday I would be here by 12. Well they moved my appointment to 12:30. And its now 12:56 and after being told only 5 more minutes 5 different times. Guess what. Im sill here. -5stars. Dont adopt here. The kittens and cat are treated horribly and left in the cage 24/7 with no way of exercise. Oh and being told the adoption fee is 150 I now am paying 160 for waiting 30 extra minutes ):

1st the pet smart in bowie-cats/kittens in adoption area-they are not clean (cages) no one there to help. annapolis adoption area-very rude not helpful, at least the cages were clean. I want to adopt a kitten from the annapolis one I turned in my application was told it would be 3-5 days, I called today spoke to the store manager-she was rude rushing the converstaion along she could not answere my questions about the kittens and hung up on me! If I didnt want that kitten I would be going elsewhere right now just because of the peopel there. These poor kittens dont even have a chance at the price they are charging and the time it takes them to sell you a kitten;and the rudess of the help, The SPCA is much less costly and they have been micro chiped. This kitten needs me and needs to get out of Pets Smart. so I wait! :_( I will not buy anything from them after this!!

I give the place 3 stars because they do have a few things I wasnt able to find at Petco and most of the employees I talked to there are quite helpful and seem to care about you getting what you want for your pets. The manager and trying to adopt through Petsmart though... Like another reviewer here I had a similar experience trying to adopt through the Annapolis Petsmart. The manager is just rude. Maybe not overtly so, but she was quite obviously just trying to get rid of me. I eventually went to the SPCA to adopt since nothing was going to happen with Petsmart. For Last Chance Animal Rescue, please partner with someone else. The manager at this place is terrible to deal with and seems to have no interest in getting their cats into permanent homes.
