I went to this place for my first tattoo after they did a fantastic job with friends, and though my experience was a mixed bag, I came away very happy. The staff are very welcoming and friendly with tattoo portfolios and television screens to display their artists work which is of superb quality. I brought a drawing to show what I wanted and was quoted $400. I found this very reasonable for what I was having done and made a deposit, booking the appointment for about a month in advance. Over the course of that month, I sent in my final artwork . . . I was also made to switch artists twice (or was it thrice?) When I called and asked for my money back because I was not going to have the artist I wanted, they refused. Granted, they very clearly tell you that deposits are nonrefundable, but I still didnt think it was fair since I was two or three artists away from the one I had chosen. I still kept my appointment. . . . As it transpired, this turned out to be in my favour because I believe I got the best artist possible! Gary Clark did a SPECTACULAR job on what was a very difficult tattoo . . . A large piece with very fine, flowy lines. The tattoo is beautiful and I could not be happier with it. I would absolutely love to have him do my next one and would be happy to pay as much as I did for this one . . . . . . Although that brings me to my second point. At no point between the initial quote and the appointment was I told that my tattoo would cost $700, not $400. The same friend who went with me to the consultation came with me to the appointment and said that no, I wasnt crazy, that I was, in fact told $400 and that it was by the same person. Said person even said "The quote is still the same, $700," which was a blatant lie. Now, I understand that in the tattoo world, you really do get what you pay for, and that a piece like the one I got done by an artist with 22 years of experience under his belt and a steady hand is well worth $700. Still, it would have been nice to have known how much it was actually going to cost beforehand. I booked this pretty far in advance and budgeted my money pretty carefully around it. The sticker shock and underhandedness put a bit of a damper on things. All in all, if I were to describe this place to someone who was looking to get a tattoo, I would say be prepared to be jerked around a lot, but what you get will be ever so worth it.

I went in on 5/15/2010 to have 2 more tattoos done on my arms. I already have 2 - so I know what a good tattoo should look like (done in a different state). I stopped by Body Mod - and had printouts of what I wanted done - which were small words (very simple designs) on each of my arms. My receipt says it might have been done by a "Yas" - Im not sure of the guys name - but I was a walk-in, and they said he could do it. They asked me to pay for the tip BEFORE I even got my tattoo - which to me - is INSANE. How can you tip someone before you know how good of a job theyve done? Then - this "Yas" tattoo artist - screwed up my tattoo. Part of the stencil came off - and he wasnt checking my printout to make sure it looked the same - so he missed a whole part. When he went to fix it - he made the part too thick - and botched the whole tattoo up. The other tattoo - he got the letters all different thicknesses - and all the edging is so ragged - it looks like someone drew it on with a marker. So I had one messed up tattoo and one that was horribly done. Do not - go here. This "Yas" guy only started working at Body Mod 2 weeks before I went there - so they obviously take new artists at random. Had I known that - I would have never gone. He apologized for messing up my one tattoo - but how do you fix that? Do not go here. I repeat - DO NOT. The one he messed up - doesnt even look like it should. I have 2 tattoos that need to be fixed or possibly covered over - dont let this happen to you. Go somewhere else.

So the way I came to get some work at this place was the reviews from Google. But after dealing with these people I will never go back again. The artist are cool and have some talent, but the management are horrible and unorganized and more concerned about money then the quality of the work that leaves that place. I was in the process of getting a whole sleeve and they didnt communicate at all with me and pulled me along like a puppet. Now I have several tattoos from other places and this by far was my worst experience. So bad that I actually signed into Google and wrote this which I never write any comments good or bad. But I thought it was something people should read before deciding where they want to get work from. I am sure others have had great experiences from here but not me especially since I spent a lot of money already and was invested with this place. Now my sleeve isnt done and I would rather have it be that way then to deal with the management at this shop.

I went in last week to set up an appointment to get a very small (3 in tall) and very simple tattoo done on my sternum. I already have a large back piece and side piece that are absolutely phenomenal so I know what a good tattoo looks like. I talked to the man at the front desk who was very nice and helpful. He said that the artist would be in by 1100. I waited for an hour an a half until the artist decided to show up at 1230. He appraised my tattoo at 120$ which I thought was rather ridiculous considering how small and simple it was, but I had good faith so I agreed. It took him about 10 minutes to tattoo. Hands down the absolute worst artist Ive ever experienced. He didnt make me feel comfortable whatsoever and he tattooed my piece CROOKED. Its been about a week and as my new tattoo heals its darker in some places than others and he failed to even fill in the entire tattoo. I will never be going there again and I hope you never have to experience this disaster.

Probably saved my piercing! Ive walked by several times but never went in because its in the mall. I walked in with an embedded cartilage piercing (a 2 1/2 week old piercing from my regular piercer that was healing nicely until I snagged it yesterday causing it swell enough to swallow the piercing). Liz was as gentle as she could be with the earring back literally inside my ear and was able to remove the too tight jewelry and replace it with a longer piece of jewelry to accommodate swelling and a wide back to ensure it didnt get sucked back into the now enlarged hole. She also changed another piercing only 1/4" inch from this one to a larger piece of jewelry so I didnt have to go through another painful procedure if the area had additional swelling. Liz probably saved my piercing. If she hadnt worked so hard (about 20 min) to remove the piercing I probably would have had to go to a clinic to have it removed, probably with a scalpel.
