Do NOT attempt to donate furniture from a pet friendly home to the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store! Were preparing for a big move and called in advance to ask if they would take a couch, purchased new less than 2 years ago. They didnt ask if there were pets in the home, just said "sure!" and so we hoisted it into the truck and made the trek to the Government Street store. When we arrived, the woman working there initally said they wouldnt be able to take it because we had a dog, but she said shed reconsider it if we unloaded the hefty sofa and removed the few errant pet hairs that had survived the vacuum cleaner. We did so, unloading the couch, and she said no again without giving it a second glance. She was incredibly rude, and we were frustrated that she had us unload it for absolutely no reason. We wound up calling Cajun Relief, conveniently headquartered right next door, and they were super nice and happily took it. They connect flood victims directly with new furniture, so we were happy it could be put to good use. Ive uploaded a picture of the couch that was "covered in white dog hair" for reference... if you think yours is in better shape, go for it, but Id avoid SVDP if you have any furry friends!

Perhaps not ideal for clothes shopping... The store has a small selection compared to others in town. Its like most thrift stores; you just might get lucky and find something. I stop by every once in a while just to see what they have. Last time, I was very happy to find 3 books that I had been looking to buy, and they were very decently priced.
