*****The 5 Star Reviews are staged!***** We had been in here before and determined it was NOT a good place due to horrendous smell. Fast forward several months, I was in the neighborhood and thought Id stop to see the Lawrence fish. To my surprise it didnt have the drop to your knees smell it had before. Fish tanks looked okay and they had a few fish I thought my husband would like. Brought him back to store and we purchased over $50 of fish a few days before Christmas. Within 1 week, over 30 fish have died in our 180g tank originally stocked with over 50 fish. Our Olathe Pet Shop fish died first and then our tank was overwhelmed with ick. Although we set up an immediate hospital tank and treated as quickly as possible, fish are still dying daily. We expect to lose every fish we have/had. JUST SICK. We monitor water quality every other day / water changes daily / and drip acclimated the new fish for over an hour. Note: 1) Do Not buy your fish here. 2) Quarantine all fish 3) No warranty is going to fix this. 4) Our tank was perfectly stable for over 6 months prior to this purchase. Will never forgive this store for wiping out our tank.

I loved the shop overall. If they carried my cats food I would be more than willing to pay a little more to help support it. Their fish selection is the best Ive seen. I will definitely go back. My only annoyance is their fish return policy. I understand that most of the time a fish dies because the tanks water quality is not good. However I bought a sick fish. It had a mark on its side, I assumed it was a special marking, but a few days later that mark became an open sore. He is dying now. It wasnt an expensive fish so Im not terribly upset about it, but I wish they would extend their return policy for the people that have good water quality but was given a sick fish that took more than 2 days for symptoms to develop. I will still go there though, it really does seem like they take the best care of their fish as possible.

Awesome lil shop. I have been there numerous times. Specifically for their fresh water stock. They have probably the best selection and healthiest fish I have seen in any of the fish stores here in the metro area. I have gotten easily a couple hundred worth of fish over the past year and while I have had a few losses. I brought in a water sample and they refunded me or exchanged the fish. I dont think I will be going to any other store for my stocking needs. Both plant and fish wise. I have always had friendly and joyful visits. Knowledgeable staff and never once felt pressured to buy or not to. I have been to a few stores where they will interrogate you and question your choices. Not here! Overall probably the best pet/general/fish store we have in the KC area. Keep up the amazing work! You guys rock!

first thing first i think all the review are friends and families of this pet store because this is a horrible pet store drove across town because i thought it was this wonderful place this was a waste of time because of these reasons 1 the store is a hole in the wall store they do not have the vast collection other reviews said they had. also not much on selection of supply barly anything! and as far as the service it was terrible worse service in town better off going to petco and wait 30 minitues for help there.. the help was rude and not knowledgeable nor would they take the time. and at the time there was only one other person in the store.... ant three people working or talking on cell phones. also the fish are sickly dead laying on the bottom of the tanks dead IN SHORT GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

i stopped and spoke with the owner, about what i was needing, to set up my 150 gaL and what types of fish i was looking to put into it, i had drove around kc for a whole weekend, and went to several big box type of places, where the employees do not know anything other than how to text, drive, chew gum, and smoke, at the same time, he was very knowledgeable , and made me realize, it is not always about price, while "mom and pop", places like this need cash flow to stay afloat, they are more about making sure I had what i would need to get set up and going, without any hitches, plus his place doesnt smell like long john silvers

I dont think youre going to find a better store for aquarium related products in the Kansas City Metro. This store has a very wide selection of freshwater tropical fish and plants. The saltwater section is still under construction, but will be adequate once complete. The prices are comparable, if not lower, to what youre going to see elsewhere in the metro. I spent over an hour just looking at fish. The owner was very courteous and knowledgeable. Hes been around a pet store a time or two, I would say. Really appreciated the support. Ill be back again and again.

I only shop here! They are very knowledgeable about their animals and really work hard to keep them healthy and well(not over) stocked. They are currently testing their new Arowana tank and getting in ready for their beautiful Arowana! I love this store! Any of their employees are eager to help you and will leave you alone if you dont need help. They will also check up on you to make sure you are finding everything you need. Plus you get a coupon back every time you purchase something. I will never go to another pet store in Olathe!

Love this pet shop! Awesome selection of fish, plants, as well as various exotic animals. We have purchased two bunnies from this store and they are both wonderful pets. Only complaint I have is that I was not told my two female bunnies would not be able to be together at all until they were spayed, thats fine because I will be spaying them anyway, but I wonder how/why are they kept in the same enclosure in the store? Other than that, great store and staff, still deserving of 5 stars!!

I have done business with this store since they opened and have been nothing but completely satisfied with the quality of the service. The staff is always ready to help and answer my vast amount of questions. Our child loves animals and when we bought hermit crabs, then fish, they helped educate me on how to take care of them. Very helpful and I would recommend them for anyone who has pets. I also like the money we spend stays with a local business owner and not some huge corporation.

Best place for Freshwater Fish & pet supplies. They do have some birds, reptiles, hamsters, etc. but I went in w/ my oldest to purchase fish for our new tank. He was very knowledgable w/ which fish go well together, care, and anything else you want to know. It has been 2 months now and EVERY fish we purchased from him is alive! My husband purchased a few fish from a big retailor, and each of them died (except 1) w/ in 2 weeks! Highly recommend this small Bussiness pet store!!
