I will NEVER shop at this store again. When I first moved to Lawrence I thought this store was great. But lately the customer service has been horrible! Everyone who works there has been rude and unwilling to help. I have actually had someone tell me that they would NOT help me get a fish from the tank for my 7 year old daughter; and then she just walked away. I have tried and tried to give this store a chance but I wont shop here again. Added to that, my daughter had a horrible interview with a manager named Gabe here back in March. She had to wait over an hour for him even though she was there on time. Once they got into his "office" he flat out told her "Look, Im sorry but I cant hire you. I require certain things from the women I hire here and you dont have them." Obviously my daughter was outraged because he hadnt asked her any questions or even looked at her resume. she asked what those were and his simple said "You arent skinny, you arent as tall as I am, and you are not blonde. Those are the only women I will hire." Then he stood and asked her to leave. Added to this, he had a picture of himself with the words "Im a Player" written on it. A few months later my niece had the same exact experience here! Completely mad, I called the store to complain but Gabe hung up on me. And continued to do so until I gave up. NEVER SHOP HERE and please dont go here for an interview.

Unprofessional - bad business model. I went to PETCO today to buy a bag of Hills Science Diet cat food, but a lady that works there told me that they dont carry it any more. On top of that, she gave me a bunch of attitude. Something about customers buying from Amazon, and other large retailers, blah, blah. I dont feel guilty that people buy things from Amazon, but I do feel guilty that I have to go home empty handed. Colleen, my cat, didnt cause PETCO to have competitors, but shes one of the many pets that PETCOs taking their frustrations out on. Thanks PETCO, I wont be shopping at your store ever again, and not because I can buy cat food cheaper elsewhere. Youre unreliable, and (at least some of) your staff are unprofessional. And more important, you let Colleen down.

All 6 of the tetras I brought home were infected with ich. I realize its a common fish disease that spreads fast in the packed tanks of fish stores, but most places Ive been to at least try to treat the water. Yes, I should have looked a little more closely at their holding tank, but it shouldnt have happened in the first place. Im only happy I could give those poor little guys a better home and some comfort as they passed.

This is terrible I didnt even go to the store yet, though. I was on the customer service call and I was on hold for a while then Simone finally answered when they did all they said was hello and then they hung up on me! Which I was stumped bc thats not good customer service. If you dont even help me then thats just bad service

Well the animals arent in good shape especially the reptiles but the store is good for supplies if you are in Lawrence and want an animals other than a dog or cat I recommend pet world

I can always find someone to help me and answer questions while shopping at Petco in Lawrence. Large selection, I just wish they offered grooming at this location.

Coupons, sales, clearance items. Does not keep much back stock, though. So if its not on the shelf, they probably dont have it. Staff usually very helpful and nice.
