My family is also a multiple generation user of Novaks for service. My Dad never took his car to anyone else. Just recently spent half of my Friday of vacation, instead of heading out of town as planned, to test drive some cars on their lot and pick one for my college daughter. My husband found a truck at the same time that was new to Novaks so it wasnt quite ready for sale. They were in the process of working on the truck brakes, so we told them we were interested in purchasing both, called the bank to check on loan info RIGHT THERE in their parking lot, said definately the car, and the truck when it was ready, and left our phone number for them to call us when the brakes were fixed on the truck. We left town for St. Louis for the weekend. Husband called on Monday and truck wasnt ready to look at, still had brake issues, but they were working on it. By Wednesday, hadnt heard anything new on the brakes, we drove over- truck still had brake issues and meanwhile, car wasnt on the lot. They SOLD THE CAR the day before- Tuesday (even though they had our phone number THE WHOLE TIME). I lost a half day of vacation (which is already low due to kids plus elderly parent care) and now have to search again. My mothers car is NEVER going there for service again, Dads probably rolling over in his grave. Word didnt mean anything, even to a long time customer. Apparently too much effort to make a phone call when another showed interest in the car. Mad doesnt even cover it. How do you plan to give me back my 1/2 day of vacation lost? I hope the ONE day earlier sale was worth it. No more business from my family, or anyone else that will be hearing my experience. Dont expect ethics at this business. Edited: forgot to add being out the money we spent on CarFAX reports for both vehicles. Husband even stopped in on Monday to get the VIN numbers from them.

Sad to say that after over 40 years we can no longer recommend this business to anyone. Our family (going back to the 1950s) have always gone to Novaks, until now when our single daughter traded her car for one on their lot. She discovered the brakes were bad so she took it back to them....they fixed the brakes (after owning the car for 2 weeks) and charged her $250 without checking with her first. When she confronted the owner about this, he said she could have 2 free oil changes or $60. He wouldnt refund the money they should have spent in the first place to sell a SAFE car! I also need to mention that our daughter has a 2 year old son. Selling anyone, much less a single mother, a car with bad brakes is too much. I cant think that any of the mechanics or the owners would be happy if their daughter was sold a car with bad brakes. Our daughter trusted them.

bought a car from him and its junk. 2 weeks after getting it, I took it in for a strange noise and they told me the brakes were rusted out. replaced them without my consent and charged me $250. Im the 4th generation to go to Novaks and none of us will ever go back. Beware of this shop!
