I bought a brand new home in April of 2008, that the builder had installed a Quiet Partner 1 dishwasher in. The dishwasher never cleaned all that well and started to make "grinding" noise in February 2009. The contractor said they purchased the dishwasher at Home Appliance Center in Cedar Rapids. I stopped to inquire if they had any ideas on what the problem could be. They seemed rather disinterested and asked what sort of detergent we use. I said just normal liquid dishwasher detergent like the sample that came with the appliance. The employee stated that was most likely the problem as I should switch to powder and purchase a dishwasher cleaner. I tried his recommendations but the problem persisted and a few months later I stopped back to inquire about any other ideas. They again seemed to be rather uninterested in my problem. I then again asked them if they had any other ideas on what the problem could be, as the problem seemed to be getting worse. Their only suggestion was it was most likely the motor going bad. They were unwilling to help me trouble shoot the problem further or even suggest that a service technician look at the dishwasher. I had to inquire how much it would cost for either a service technician to look at the dishwasher or the replacement cost of a motor. They "felt" most likely it was the motor and would cost at least $200 to fix. With the lack of customer service, I decided it was not worth my time to try and give them further business. As I couldnt see purchasing a new motor for a problem they "felt" it was and is about half the price of a new unit. A couple months after that the dishwasher now just makes a wonderful buzzing noise but unfortunately doesnt clean dishes. We decided to purchase a Bosch dishwasher to replace the Whirlpool. All I have to say is stay away from Whirlpool dishwashers...I think an appliance that one only uses a couple times a week should at least last a year without problems. Whirlpool doesnt even think they will last much more than that because they only have a one year warranty. I am also extremely disappointed with the "customer service" at Home Appliance Center, as you would think they would either try to service the product the sold or try to sell you a new one. Anyways just my opinion you can take your chances on Whirlpool or Home Appliance Center if youd like. But I strongly encourage you to shop elsewhere if you value customer service!!

I walked in the store ready to buy a washer and dryer. No one greeted me so I walked around the store. A man was sitting behind the counter eating and told me that someone would be right with me. So I made another lap around the store and the same man was now on the phone but no one had come to greet me. in fact the two other men that were there who were not talking to customers did not even acknowledge me. So I left. I thought maybe I would get better service if I called them on the phone but there was no answer. I went to Sears against what other people have told me and was surprisingly satisfied with my purchase. The three employees there all came up to me and offered help. Two of them turned it over to the other and he was very knowledgeable professional and helpful.

These guys rock! It always feels good to buy from a locally owned business. It feels even better when you dont have to pay more for the personal service. Not only is Home Appliance competitive with the box stores prices, they are awesome to work with. Im a DIYer but sometimes need some advice on diagnosing the problem. Craig & Steve are the Click & Clack of the appliance business. There isnt anything they cant fix or, even better, tell YOU how to fix. They will show you how to fix it, print out a diagram and sell you the needed parts. If its a brand they dont have, they will tell you where to get it. Theyll even tell you where to get a used appliance if youre not looking for a new one. The only place you need to go for major appliances.

My wife and I purchased our fridge, washer, and dryer from the Home Appliance Center about 4 years ago. This week our washer stopped working. I called the Home Appliance Center and talked to Steve, who originally sold us our appliances. Rather than just setting up a repair visit, Steve worked through the problem with me over the phone. He guided me through several things I could try to identify the root cause of the problem, which turned out to be that one of my 2 year olds socks got sucked in the washer filter and was preventing the motor from turning. In the end, Steves service saved me a lot of money I would have had to pay someone to come and repair the washer.

They know their products super well. We bought our oven, dishwasher, cooktop and refrigerator from them 4 years ago. I had researched appliances online and in Consumer Reports and it was all very confusing. Craig helped boil it down to the essentials and made very clear and insightful recommendations. Four years later, we are thrilled with all of them. The ice maker and the dishwasher had minor issues and they fixed them right away and most of it was without charge. Their service people are kind and careful and knowledgeable. I trust them completely. And we got a better price on the appliances than were advertised on sale at a big box store!

My new Condo came with a refrigerator from them 4 years ago. The freezer is no longer keeping stuff frozen and the refrigerator not keeping stuff cold. Called them to have them come take a look because their phone answering machine says "service what we sell" well that is BS. They would not even come to take a look at my frig. Told me to buy a new one. Should not have to buy a new frig after 4 years. Will never do business with these guys and will never buy another Whirlpool appliance

We were leaving on vacation and the day before our dryer broke, my wife was totally distraught and had wet clothes that needed to be dried before we left. i called around to our local appliance stores and they offered little help but then we called Home appliance center and the parts guy was awesome! He stayed a little late to help us get the part we needed to get our dryer fixed that night! These guys will be my 1st call from here on out and thanks again for all your help!

I was impressed by how much these guys know and how they are willing to help! I would reccamend buying from these guys ANY day of the week. Not only are they a great help in finding what you are looking for, but they will also save your loads of money by informing your of repair tips, powder solutions to use (Tide HE Powdered Enzymes only!), etc. They also saved us from buying a bad unit, which would have gone in the second floor! Great job!

I will buy all my appliances at Home Appliance -- Craig and crew went above and beyond for us. Delivery, install, and amazing follow thru when we had an issue with our freezer. Craig was insanely patient while I took weeks to make a decision. Dont waste your time and $$ not buying local from someone that cares about his customers and has a personal relationship with him. Great local business that delivers on promise.
