I dont often write reviews, especially negative ones, but I am really hoping that things start changing at this store. I buy most of my fabric online however there are a few quality fabrics I like to buy locally, however this Joanns is making it difficult. I sent my brother in to buy some sweater knit I needed for a gift. To make sure he got the right thing I made sure he had a link on his phone to show an employee. He did so and came home with ponte knit instead of sweater knit. Huge difference. I understand that the employees dont need to know everything about fabric, but they should know enough to distinguish the names! Also, I have found that I need to always double check the receipt. After checking out one time I thought it seemed off and asked the cashier to redo it, when she did there was a $15 difference! And instead of putting it back on my card I could only get a gift card. Hopefully the employees can get better training so that things like this dont happen!

Disappointing! I refuse to shop at Hobby Lobby anymore, but every time I go to Jo-Ann they dont have what I want. After not finding one thing I needed today, I did have three items, one was 50% off on a shelf with several other similar items. When we got to checkout, my half-price item didnt have a tag, so my husband went to pick up one that did so they could scan it. Meanwhile, the manager informed the cashier that they WONT SELL ME the one without the tag. Even though we are standing there with one with a tag on it. I told them screw it and left all my items and walked out.

The Ames Jo-Ann Fabrics store has the worst customer service I have ever encountered at a fabric store. You will often wait more than five minutes for a clerk to show up at the cutting counter or the registers up front. Plus, they stand behind the counter and complain about things right in front of you. Ive even seen a line of 6+ customers while a clerk dilly dallys behind the cutting counter instead of helping customers. Unfortunately, if you need apparel fabric, there isnt a great alternative in town.

I bought an item and gave this large middle aged lady a 10$ bill, she gave me change for a 5$ bill. I said "I gave you a 10$ bill" she got in my face and yelled " It was a fiveeeeeeeee!!!" Freaked me out. If she needs the money that bad more power to her. I wont shop at that sh** hole.

Ive just left Jo-Ann Fabrics in Ames IA. The store wasnt busy. After pressing the button for help, I waited several minutes for a clerk to show up. When one finally did, he was trailed by two other clerks chatting him up with compliments and giggling. Unacceptable.

Some of the online coupons did not register when checking out so they had to go back and markdown each item by hand. They were great about doing it, but it was very time consuming and a hassle. Worth the 70% off!

Sells specialty items that are required for crafts and sewing. Great start for hobbyist to find required items. However, it might get a little expensive.

The staff were helpful and friendly. This is a smaller Jo-Anns, so the selection was limited in some departments (e.g. the dessert decorating section)
