Went to check out the new store that opened this week and its horrible. Its about 1/3 the size of the old store, doesnt have a Joe Muggs coffee shop, and feels horribly crowded. The aisles are narrow and hard to navigate. The shelves are in no logical order. The sections are tiny, only carrying what looks to be the top 20 titles/authors in each genre. I cant believe that I drove nearly 90 minutes to be this massively disappointed. I used to visit the BAM in southlake mall 2 or 3 times a month and spend $50 in books alone, as well as buying drinks and snacks at the Joe Muggs. Now I wont bother to make the trip. It used to be the best bookstore within 2 hours of where I live, beating out a Barnes & Noble that is 20 minutes away from my house as well as the B&N that is in Valporaiso (about 15 min up the road.) But with a bargain section that is barely there, and none of the harder to find titles that made the trip worthwhile, its not worth the bother anymore. Ill save the gas money for more books, unfortunately that will have to come from Amazon at this rate. Also, people were being allowed to stand right outside the main entrance to the store and smoke. Besides being incredibly rude, and against state law, the employee I mentioned it to blew me off mumbling something that sounded like "hold your breath or use the other door."

Books a million in the Merrillville south-lake mall has the worst customer service I have ever seen. They were so rude when the mall was closing and I was trying to walk out of the store, the rude cashier told announced they were closing and then personally came up to us to tell us in a rude tone sorry we had to get out because they were closed. We were simply just trying to walk out the exit. I will never return to this Books a million and maybe the managers need to hire better sales associates.

I went into the and had a very personable experience with the woman who worked there. When we couldnt find exactly what I was looking for she referred me to their online site where I found what I needed. I plan on going back again soon.

They are very small. They dont have a crime ficition. Mostly bibles and romance novels.
