Not impressed with this location in the slightest. I attempted to return a pair of shoes that I had ordered online, but was told the order confirmation didnt count as a receipt and would have to have the returned money put on merchandise credit, which was incorrect. Not to mention, the sales associate acted nothing but frustrated with the situation. I said merchandise credit was fine as I was going to order the same pair of shoes online because they were not offered in store. Before the transaction was completed, I asked the associate why the transaction couldnt be replaced on the debit card I had purchased the shoes with and was told it was because there was no bar code listed on the order confirmation. At this time, another associate was present and stated the money could be returned on my card. The original associate was continuously rushing and put the money on a merchandise card before the other associate could verify with management that she was correct. I attempted to use the merchandise card online, got an error message, called customer service to find out that merchandise cards can only be used in store. I clearly stated my intentions to purchase another pair online, but was completely disregarded and dismissed. Communicating with customer service was a great experience, but I will no longer be taking my business to this location.

Researched online for the fishing pole I wanted and it was listed in stock at the local store. I looked for it but couldnt find the exact one I was looking for so I asked for assistance. Long story short, the assistant said the computer showed they were supposed to have 7 in stock but he didnt know where they were. End of story. He didnt ask anyone else, he didnt look into it further. I searched for another 10 minutes and found the pole. During the search I found another pole i wanted but it didnt show the action. I got online to type in the model # to find the action & found the pole on sale for $30 less at Cabellas. I went to the gun counter (right next to fishing) and asked the assistant behind the counter (different assistant) if they price matched. He said they did not. I found that odd so I decided to check online. Not only do they price match, they give an additional 5% off. I went to check out and got $35 off of a $99 rod. I can understand if he would have said he didnt know. But dont relay incorrect information. Seems as though the people working there need a little more training.

Say you had no reciept for 1 $25.00 Under Armour shirt. They give you a gift card understandable. But you apply that gift card to a $40.00 Under Armour dress shirt Polo but ya get home get the size strip off thats usually clear and folded. Humm theirs a set of 2 stains. Ok so youve paid a additional $15.00 cash on top of the $25.00 gift card guess what your entire$40.00 is going on a Gift card. Ya add funds to previous paid funds but due to no receipt your penalized and given another gift card. Not my kinda store staying with DICKS Sporting Goods. Make a return at Dicks Sporting Goods & you get $10.00 off for 3 hours on your next purchase plus cash back.

When did it become acceptable for sales associates to practically run over a customer with a cart of supplies/merchandise? It happened two times while I was shopping at the Evansville Academy store today. They were rude and unapologetic about it. Then when we were ready to check out we were standing in line and the checkout person just left to go get something for a person who had just walked into the store. It would be nice if the managers taught their employees some basic manners. We just left our merchandise and walked out. It is no wonder Amazon is doing so much better than the retail stores.

My partner and I went shortly after their grand opening and have no plans of ever returning. The store was fully staffed and fully stocked but not a single person greeted us or made eye contact. We came across at least 15 employees but not a single one of them acknowledged us. Normally when a new retail establishment opens the employees go out of their way to make you feel welcome and make sure you find everything ok because they want you to leave with a good impression and to tell their friends about what an awesome place it is to shop. Not the case with this company I guess.

Poor, I drove to Evansville to purchase your firearms special in ad. Ive been looking forward to this all week since youre out came out the man at the counter said he just sold the last one I pointed out that he had a black one in the gun case and that he could he substitute that one he said no there was no way so I called for Owensboro Kentucky store guess what they sold their last one today too funny how that happens. As much money as I spend at your store should have known

Academy has one of the best selections of outdoor essentials. All items are set at an affordable price. They price match! My experience with Academy was good. I only bought shoes at the time, but I have purchased several large items such as a grill, fire pit, and basketball goal. The quality of their items are fine and the workers really help to make sure all customer needs are met. This place is an extremely great place to go to for all outdoor necessities.

I purchased $249 balls of various kinds for a trip to Rwanda and when I attempted to pay with a check from my non-profit I was refused due to my name was not on that company check. After discussion was still refused. This is rediculous. I have NEVER had this issue before. I will not be purchasing anything from there again. Company customer service was unable to tell me if this was there policy. Extremely dissatisfied.

The employees there are horrible. I have been in twice and they all stand around playing on their phones. I asked two workers where a particular shirt was and neither one of them even bothered to look or ask someone who would know. When I get to the register, the workers are just having their own conversations and texting. The store is nice but the workers are not.

I returned to Academy to purchase a ladys tenis outfit. We had great help and options two years ago. This time I had a hard time finding them so i had to find help. There was no help on the floor. Finally we got assistance and the outfits are in a corner with the equipment. The selection was lacking so we left. I dont plan to return.

From the outside to the inside, it is a big box store. If you need help or have a question you will need to track down help. They will stand right next to you and not see how you are doing. They have a great selection of outdoor gear. They have a store brand clothing line called Magellan that is decent quality for a great price.

With the selection not to be rivaled, and the staff who will greet you with a smile on their worst days, one of the cheapest places to buy ammunition and the clothing selection with all the name brands that you could ask for this could be your One Stop Shop for any hunter, College student, or visitor to Evansville Indiana.
