My husband and I ordered an entire 3600 sq ft house of flooring from the Home Depot in Carmel, IN. Part of the flooring was engineered hardwood and the other part carpet. When the hardwood arrived we picked it up from the store and stored inside of our home for approx 15 days while we waited on the installers to arrive. Upon arrival of the installers we were informed that every box needed to be open for 48 hours and the install could not happen this day; mind you we have an entire house of subfloor at this point since all the rip out was already completed. 48 hours passed and the install went in flawlessly, the installers did a fabulous job and we couldnt be more pleased; the miscommunication from Home Depot in the beginning wasnt their fault, so how could we be displeased with them? Fast forward 10 days and we are ready for carpet install. The installers arrive at our home and prep for their install. Prior to installation we review the carpet... its the WRONG color carpet. 4 shades lighter than the carpet we ordered and paid for.. we are hosting Easter in 4 days.. we cannot not have carpet in our home. With the promise from the Home Depot store ASM Tony, stating they would make this right with a 48% return of our monies for the wrong carpet being laid in our home we accepted the 4 shades lighter color to get this job done 4 hours later than planned and this issue on Home Depots end caused the installers to work past 10pm. It has been 23 days since the carpet was laid and we STILL DO NOT have any refund. We look at the wrong carpet daily and are not pleased. The ASM of the store has jerked us around day after day offering $1000 refund which is not even close to 48% promised the original date. I would NEVER recommend Home Depot to anyone and cannot believe the lack of service theyve provided for an ISSUE that was THEIR ISSUE to begin with. We asked for the right carpet and were informed the fasted they could get it was 10-12 days.. well again that didnt work due to our Easter plans. So as of today Home Depot has lost the business from a high paying client and a very dissatisfied client still waiting on resolution for their error. Brittany Keels

Well, I ended up going to Home Depot in hopes of finding the items I needed that Lowes didnt carry. I had two common themes. First, I found less selection, markings, and disorder than I had expected. Secondly, and by far the more bothersome of the issues, was a terrible customer service experience. I asked an individual about finding a certain item. His response was "I have no idea, Im maintenance". He continued walking with no intention of finding someone who could help me. Shortly after, I approached another staff who pointed me in the right direction. I then tried to find roofing, which I was told was in the "corner of the store". Unbeknownst to the employees of Home Depot, box stores generally have at least 4 corners. I went into the nearest corner, which made logical sense, and realized I was in receiving (which was unmarked and completely open to the store). While turning around, a MANAGER NOT A GENERAL STAFF, said "Umm you are in receiving". I responded... "I realized that now, Im a bit lost and cant find what Im looking for". His response was "Yeah, I can tell". No offer of help. No chuckle, just rude sarcasm. Worst experience with customer service Ive had in a box store in a long time. My business will be going elsewhere.

We went to the store to buy a Zero Gravity Chair for $24. We had just bought one on 38th Street. We went to Michigan Road to see if they had one too. There werent any in the spot for them so we asked someone to see if they had anymore somewhere else. After searching they (two associates) said they did not have any but we could go to customer service and they could order them for us for the $24. Great, so we went to customer service, stood in line and explained to the lady at the counter what the other associates had told us. First off, she acted like we were lying to her, secondly she was rude to us and basically told us "that is not how it works" in a very condescending tone. Her customer service skills are quite lacking. The way we were treated was quite frustrating. We believe we will just give all of our business to Menards. Thanks but no thanks Home Depot.

The old men they hire on the floor should be Walmart greeters, not hardware associates. Their advice on multiple occasions is grossly misinformed, obfuscating with hyperbole, to the point that I avoid the Carmel Home Depot. Meaning they make statements to sound knowledgeable while misguiding the shopper. Forget calling in! I had to listen to the ill regular heartbeat of an old codger for 15 minutes until I hung up, when he forgot I was on the phone and slipped the phone in his breast pocket. I blame the hiring manager as unskilled in selecting candidates.

Nothing short of extraordinary. We live in east Carmel, much closer to HDs main competitor. But I will make the drive. The service at this store is A+. A young man (~30s, but Im sorry I didnt get his name) was a great help in selecting a power tool and went well beyond the call of duty in helping my wife with some hardware, which he found on the website of a different company (since HD doesnt carry it). Even the checkout clerks are pleasant and amazingly helpful. I will drive the extra distance. And probably buy some of their stock, too!

No help when you need it. I needed help in the paint department being the first time I would be painting but no one was there to help. I had to walk around the store to find someone, when I finally did, instead of admitting he had no knowledge, he advised me wrongly and I ended up buying the wrong products and messing up my painting/wall!!! Home Depot had great product but they need to focus on helping the customers.

Weeks ago I went in to order a storm door for my house. The clerk told me that he will have a company to come in my house and measure the door then he will order it. I have called several times and I still cant get them to call me back or give me a yes or no answer. I have no idea why they are even open when they ignore customers like this.

Ive had several exceptional experiences with the staff, especially the paint department. Theres a guy named Mike whos very helpful and always gives the best advice and has answered the hundreds of questions weve asked with a smile. Only "complaint" is I wish it was closer to home.

Was in the Carmel store and had EXCELLENT service. We had been to other box stores and about had to beg associates to give us a hand. Richard in door hardware made us feel like we were his only customers. Excellent service.
