Dont even bother to respond to their NUMEROUS employment ads. Youll be routed into internet and phone automation hell. After taking all of their online "assessments", being carefully "selected" and hitting 14 phone prompts, Sirandipruthu Ghandis second cousin twice removed will actually pick-up and give you an interview time and date. Hell also give you the name of the person youre actually supposed to be meeting with......but only if you ask. Youre also advised to bring a print out of the email you were sent so when you arrive you dont get that "What the hell are you here for?" look from the front counter clerk just like when you arrive at a Wendys or Taco Bell around there. Then, to your dismay, after arriving on time dressed in "business casual" attire as per their email advice and waiting around for 10 minutes, youll be advised that "Nikki is actually out on jury-duty this week" then watch them scramble around wondering what to do with you and 5 minutes later Chad comes running in through the front door to state "Im taking Nikkis place from the other store and was caught up by the drawbridge" (with no apology). Then hell sit you down and ask a bunch of asinine questions from a script while writing your answers incessantly like a secretary that doesnt know short hand only to tell you that "This went really well but youll have to meet with Nikki anyway because shes the hiring manager".........but........ .......no second chances Nikki......or Home Depot. Enjoy the employees that you have got. And whatever you hire in the future, you deserve each other. (P.S. That miserable old creepy man that interviewed me there 2 YEARS ago is still there behind the scenes. I didnt follow-up with him either. I remember him asking me more about the street I lived on and what color my house was because back in 1942 his grandmother lived around there and his brother used to - whatever - other then INTERVIEW me or my qualifications. He reminded me again of that guy that looked me in the eye in the restroom when I was 9. Just MFing ODD MuskeGONE! It should be law that job applicants are allowed to run a background check on anyone they are supposed to meet with for an interview before they even bother taking a shower and getting dressed).

United home service through the home depot is a dysfunctional mess. They stay in business because home depot, after the payment is made, throws them table scraps. When you order carpet at home depot, even after your peers advised against it, expect the company to bail out on the day of installation. I scheduled my installation a month out. The morning they were to come and lay the carpet, I was called and told they could not do it and THEY would contact ME at their convenience to reschedule. Very blunt. No explanation. I had to call the store in town to find out why the 3rd party that home depot hires didnt meet the contract. Later in the afternoon, the contractor called me and knew I had personally taken my complaint to Home Depot. They said they could come out first thing in the morning the next day. Okay, fine. But then after hanging up the phone, they called back minutes later to cancel AGAIN. They stated they werent supposed to tell me that they could come out the next day, sorry for the trouble. O_o So, now I wait in limbo for carpet that I paid for because I have no idea if the next scheduled day will develop results.

I really like this Home Depot. All the staff are knowledgeable and really friendly, and they treat you like you probably know what youre doing. Whats nice, however, is if you really have no idea what youre doing you wont be made to feel like an idiot. I have done a lot of DIY projects, and sometimes they turn out and sometimes they dont- but I never feel like I cant ask questions here. Also, their hours are great. Also, they give away wooden cable spools once theyre empty, for anyone who is crafty. And, also, their prices for stuff like packing boxes and shipping tape are lower than even Meijers prices. Great store, friendly staff. As an edit, Im really uncertain why the guy below me is going on a racist rant, but I assure you... I am a five foot tall white girl and I have never felt like the Muskegon Home Depot staff have treated me with anything except respect. Their employees are indeed mostly black, but Im not really certain why that would ever matter. They can all show you where the paint and wood and weird hanging hardware is, regardless of race.

We ordered a house full of carpet from them. First they promised a 2 week wait for installation, only to be told after purchasing that it was actually a 6 week wait. Then the morning they were due, they called 25 minutes before install and cancelled with lame excuse. And no reschedule date in mind. My house was in shambles, unlivable at that time from all the furniture being in other rooms and blocking things. Plus I took work off to be there. I called the Home Depot store about their United Home Services they use for installs. I talked to the store manager, she was quite concerned. She made a couple calls and I received a call shortly after with a Saturday install, the next day. I had to cancel all my plans, but needed carpet done. United Home Services have terrible customer service and communication. I would never recommend them!! They finally did send a crew of only 2 out to do our house and move heavy items. Felt bad for the guys, but they did a good job. No thanks to United Home Service tho!!

Came to the store today with "warranty issue, a "Ridgid" Power tool with a "Lifetime" warranty. The checkout person contacted hardware , a representative then informed me that my Ridgid tool had a "send it in" warranty ,a 4 to 6 week wait. My only other option was to take it to "Grand Rapids" for warranty service , or BUY ANOTHER ONE. I needed the tool so this trip was my only option. I was told by another "associate" that the "warranty center" was on Alpine and the I96 exchange. I asked "would they be open? Yes they would be open I was told.I then went to see if the store had in stock the broken tool, yes but it would cost me $119.00 cash, nice warranty. After arriving in Grand Rapids a call to the Alpine "Home Depot" I was informed that the "warranty center" was not there but on West River Drive, another 8 miles, and oh they would NOT be OPEN.I have now driven 100 miles and wasted fuel and time for nothing

In a word, RACIST. I have been there many times. I have found this to be true on every occasion: If you are a white person visiting this store, expect to get lesser treatment. Expect to see the employees (mostly black people) at the service desk giving out special discounts to black customers that they wont give to you because youre white. Expect that the black person in line in front of you will be greeted with a smile and a hello, but the black employee will mumble under her breath and avoid all eye contact. Expect to be treated with contempt by the racist, black employees, even managers that work there. If youre white, they will let you know very clearly that they have nothing but disdain for you. This is NOT an exaggeration in any way.
