I have just moved to this area and this is the largest store closest to me. They have a good variety of fabric, however more calico would be good as I am a quilter. The layout is different than any other Jo-Anns Ive ever been to, but eventually Ill figure that out. The reviews Ive read about this store are mostly from a few years ago, so I thought Id give an update. Ive been there more than a few times and I cant say that anyone was especially rude except the short haired older lady behind the cutting table. Shes all business and is not very cheerful; perhaps shes just worked there too long and has lost the joy in her work, I dont know. Other than that I think the staff is wonderful, they are always smiling and helpful, especially at check out, they all want to help us save a buck with coupons and who wouldnt want that? I am one of those customers that wants to get the most for my dollar. There was one employee behind the counter who was so patient with me and was gracious enough to look up when some of the fabric would be on sale so I could come back and save a little more. If you dont need it right away and can wait a week or two, why not. Another time I was looking for a button and at checkout one of the helpful staffers looked in their system to see if they had any more and also looked up to see where I could find one at a sister store. But again I didnt need it right away and would rather just wait until they got more in. Everyone has their bad days, perhaps Ive gone there on their good days. I would suggest if youre going on the weekend when most people are off work, go right when they open or a short time after that. Or I would suggest going in the evening hours after 6 p.m. when most people are at home enjoying dinner with families. Every Saturday and Sunday everywhere is going to be busy, we all should accept that. If you plan to go on the weekends, just know you may spend extra time there because they will most likely have more visitors. Also, if youre waiting for your number to be called at the cutting table, I browse around the store close by enough to hear my number being called. It passes the time and Im not sitting there waiting with all the other grumpy impatient people. Just remember that life is too short to pissy all the time ;). Ive learned that hard way. A little wisdom from me.

This store is very large and carries most of what anyone needs for most craft projects. There are times where they are very busy and likely even understaffed, but thats not unusual in many places in this day in age. Rarely have I found someone rude to me in the years theyve been open as Ive lived in Vernon Hills before they even opened this location, but they are not perfect; no one is. My last experience was good; I wanted to make a poodle skirt and found the felt, broadcloth, netting, tulle, thread and zipper needed. Plus I found the poodle applique and some cool trim for the "leash". I had a pattern at home, but I did pull the McCalls and Simplicity ones that were like mine to get yardage. 2 of 3 patterns were out of the largest adult size, but hey it is almost Halloween and Im doing this kind of last minute... For the area, I choose this location first as Wal-Mart doesnt carry any cut to yardage fabric anymore and Hobby Lobby is a joke at the cutting table. There have been times were I have left without getting the fabric I wanted cuz no one even answered the bell I kept ringing to get it cut. If you are looking for something more specific, you may need to try something like Vogue Fabrics in Evanston or a specialty quilt store as I would like to see more calico options. When this location first opened, they did have a lot more calico - or so it seems that way.

I agree with every review written so far. I would go to this store on a weekly basis. Each and every time the experience was awful. Everyone is rude and dont even think about asking a question! Whew! Im never going back. The selection is good and the coupons help but I would rather pay more and get decent customer service. This and the Arlington Heights store is awful. Their sewing machine dept is awful too. You would think you would be able to ask a few questions if you want to invest in a sewing machine. Not here! They hardly answer your questions and look at you all bothered. Ive made the mistake of buying 3 sewing machines from them. This last one I found on Amazon for $60 cheaper! When I tried to return it, I was told I couldnt because the box had been open. How are you supposed to try the machine and see if its worth it without opening the box? She said that people just use the machine for a project and then want to return it. Ive bought 3 machines from them! Does my customer history look like I just bought the machine to finish a project? No! So not only have you insulted me, you now have lost a repeat customer! My rating is actually 0 stars - they dont even deserve 1 star.

My mom and me went to JoAnn Fabrics yesterday to buy a vinyl tablecloth and when we opened it today to set it on our dining room table it was all cut in pieces. It wasnt cut 2& 1/4 yards like we said yesterday. Just now my mom called me and said that the girl didnt believe what my mom told her and accused my mom of her being the one who cut the vinyl into pieces and that it wasnt bought that way. My mom gave me the cell phone to explain to the girl and then my mom was having such a hard time with the girl plus the manager that my mom showed the receipt and said to just better give her the money back and we wont ever come back as customers and well just go some place else. That just happened just now. Weve always been satisfied with them before but not anymore! Just now I read the BAD reviews on JoAnn Fabrics. ALL BAD! Before we were ALWAYS happy but NOT anymore. We should have read the bad reviews before buying anything. My guess is they have bad management and bad employees now because before we were always satisfied with management and employees at Countryside. Its sad but true. We are VERY disappointed.

I disagree with the low ratings people are giving the employees of this store. I go to this JoAnns a lot! Ive had sales staff walk me to the aisle of an item I am looking for, instead of just pointing, I have had them explain how I can use competitors coupons, mailer coupons, Sunday ad coupons, on-line coupons all at the same time (separate items, of course)... Ive personally rolled my eyes at the ridiculous things customers ask or demand ("how many yards does it take to make a mans suit", "why cant I use a coupon on a sale item"...). The cutting counter employees have commented, positively, on my fabric choices, asked about the project Im using the fabric for, made suggestions on the correct fusible web to use... Some of them dress up at Halloween, how fun is that!
