Modern tattoo is an outstanding tattoo parlor. I have been constantly going back to Wayne for years. Some of the nicest staff you can meet in the field, they really care about their customers. Wayne took his time to get everything right with my ink, his dedication to the job is one other artists should admire. I went and got appraised for my chest piece at Liberty Tattoo, being quoted at 300-400. I ended up paying $100 at modern for the same work. Not only are their prices great, the work is suburb, and I have no complaints on a single piece theyve done. Their premises is one of detail. With a nice lounge area, set with comfortable couches and a large tv with access to the remote, the vibe is one of relaxation. Their walls are plastered with stencils and designs dating back to the Second World War. As well, outside of every room is an iPad, where you can swipe through that artists portfolio. Modern Tattoo actually supplies free shuttle services to the Great Lake Naval base, and offers amazing prices to those who served in our Armed Forces. While this is an admirable service, going as far as downright kind, I would recommend to anyone who is seeking to get work done to call ahead and see how busy they are for that day. You may be stuck waiting awhile if they bring in a lot of Naval appointments. Other than that, Modern Tattoo is, in my opinion, the best parlor in the northern suburbs. I give them a full 5 star rating.

I requested a very simple tattoo of link from legend of Zelda (literally just the outline of him) and said multiple times "just like the photo I provided please." The man that tattooed me completely ignored all my requests during the process to STOP adding random additives to the art, as it is legend of Zelda, and should really be only done one specific way. He ended up turning my tattoo of Link into a weird looking elf and I couldnt be more devastated. Not to mention the shading (which he unnecessarily added) is so wonky Im completely embarrassed to have this on my body. He changed his entire outfit from simple SOLID GREEN and added stripes all over him! He changed the design in the middle of the tattoo, and I just cannot stress how mortified I am over this. DO NOT TRUST this shop. This shouldve been the simplest tattoo and now Ive had it for two hours and am calling other shops hoping to have any luck in covering it up. Not to mention that I was sobbing throughout the last half of the tattoo since the artist had already butchered the design, and the artist continued to ignore my pleas to fix it and continued doing his own thing. This is my 15th tattoo, and Ive never felt more violated and disrespected in a tattoo shop in my life.

Ive gotten tat from Wayne and hes absolutely awesome. Kris did all my piercings and I have to say she is totally amazing. The staff definitely cares about you more than just a customers but takes you in as youre part of the family. Everytime Im there theres nothing but laughter to the point we are in tears. Ive being a customer for years and this is the only place that will ever get my business. Thank you to all the staff with taking the time out with me and showing me nothing but love. Donna

This is the oldest and the worst shop ever. First off the owner Pops, has Hepatitis. I believe he shouldnt even have a license to tattoo! If the Health Dept. would do there research and check, they would be very surprised what in his shop. Not to mention all the out dated certificates of the shops artists. I would never want to expose myself to this atmosphere. I am just reporting it as i see it. Not to mention theres this old dusty dog running around.

The apprentice that works at this shop was very friendly and helpful. we got really great prices for our tattoos, they did an amazing job on my boyfriend and is traditional style tattoos. You gotta pay in cash not by credit/debit, it was well worth the money and for my first tat it came out beautifully. WOOOO
