**This review is for Dion, who apparently has the MAGIC TOUCH** Came in here about a year ago to get my nose re-pierced. Twice before, Ive gotten it pierced, and twice before had to take the jewelry out and let it close because of constant infections and keloid scarring. I didnt have the highest of hopes that this piercing would be any different but I had the scar on my nose anyway and wanted to try hiding it with a little stud again. Dion did the piercing and was very professional and polite. Its been a year and aside from a brief initial infection caused by my taking the piercing screw out too soon and probably not disinfecting the replacement bone well before putting it in, I have had NO issues in an area that has been notorious for issues. Thats the magic touch #1. A couple of weeks ago, I made an impromptu appointment with Dion to have some coloring-in done on a large tattoo that I started two years ago but still isnt finished. Four hours passed like it was nothing. I even had him touch up some older tattoos that were starting to lose their luster. Dion uses a rotary machine, so it was a really quiet four hours (aside from conversation) that seemed to just fly by. He corrected some color issues in the original work that had been bothering me, too. The amazing thing here, though, was the healing. I have a lot of experience with tattoos and this was the best heal time EVER. No scabbing, no problems whatsoever. I *always* scab (I think it is because I am prone to keloid scarring). Not this time. Thats the magic touch #2. Ive been getting tattoos for almost 30 years and I have had too many tattooists to count come and go. As far as I am concerned, Dion is the only one I want to ink my body, period. Ive had the rest. I want the best! I referred my daughter to him as well. THAT is confidence! He worked with her and designed a custom piece that she is really, REALLY happy with. It wont be her last by him, either. Random observation: while I was here for the tattoo, I cant count how many calls and walk-ins were related to fixing things done by other places.

I came in for a piercing and I cant comment on their work because I didnt even get that far with them. I asked to have a navel piercing and the girl working asked to see my navel. Now, Im 56 and 136 lbs., no where near over or under weight, and her first words were to me "your stomach creases too much... it wasnt made for a navel piercing". When I sit down or bend over theres no actual crease, only a minor shape change. She showed me pictures of rejection which looked more like people who had pulled on their rings (a big mistake for navel piercings in the first place) and then said Id have a really high rejection rate but shed do it if I really wanted it but she wouldnt want to pierce anyone just cause. Fast forward two minutes later and three girls walk in to get their cartilage pierced and she tells them something along the lines of "I dont know if I have the time/materials to do all of you". The shop was supposed to be open for another hour. HOUR. Combine that with the blarring rap music using the N word every few words and the insane estimates (not because of how high but because of how wide the range was) I tried to get on some tattoos while the piercist spoke to the other girls, I was fed up and just left. I was in my car for three or four minutes googling other places when I saw the piercist run outside and immediately start texting and smoking. I called another shop the next day to ask if theyd look at my navel because I was told something might conflict with a navel piercing and they responded "Liberty Tattoo tells that to everyone!". You know its bad when another shop knows its them just by how I was treated and not by me telling them where I went.

My only issue was this: I wanted a custom back piece, so I went in, explained what I wanted, paid the twenty-five dollar drawing fee and was told theyd give me a call when my drawing was finished (said it would be about a week). I waited two weeks and then called the shop. After a lot of ring around the rosy trying to figure out which artist was handling my drawing, I was asked to come back to the shop to clarify what I wanted. The artist (Sam) told me that for such a large piece, rather than sketching it out first, he would need to draw it directly on my back and then start tattooing. Fine by me, except someone couldve told me that two weeks ago. Thats where my troubles ended. We got started that day. It was my first tattoo so I think Sam and I were both a bit apprehensive (he because I chose such a huge piece, and I because Sam wasnt on the web site so I hadnt seen his work). Turns out I sit like a champ and he definitely knows what hes doing. I got half done at the Libertyville shop and half at the one in Antioch. He tweaked and added some parts to the original design, but never without asking permission first, and I never regretted giving the ok. Everyone I met there was nice (even ordered me a sandwich and gave me some water and candy when I got lightheaded) and my tattoo came out and healed beautifully. I would def go back to and recommend this place.

I had an amazing experience with Liberty Tattoo. The artist, Sam, spent a couple of hours patiently designing a tattoo that both met the idea I had in my head and also would cover a stupid kanji symbol that I have grown to hate. He was careful to make sure that I liked the design and incorporate elements that I wanted. The time spent designing was made to feel really fun, as if we were all just hanging out and goofing around. When we got to doing the actual tattoo, Sam was extremely professional and organized, and I was completely at ease. Everything was well-maintained and clean and the chair was really comfortable to sit in for a few hours. The after care instructions were really detailed and given to me both orally and on paper... way more detailed and effective than with any previous tattoo I got. They sold me a tub of healing ointment for a really reasonable price and it works extremely well. I absolutely adore the tattoo I got! I couldnt be happier with everything about this experience and I will be going back to them when I decide what I want to cover a stupid tribal tattoo I got in my teens with!

I have received three tattoos so far from this location, first two times were great, third time was awful. I walked in with my own sketch for the artist to base himself off of, Dion then took my sketch and scanned it into the computer, and when he printed it on trace paper, it was distorted. When questioned, he said he was going to perfect it when inking it on my skin. As the session progressed, I kept checking and questioning why it was looking worse and worse, he kept answering that it would look better once healed and that it was distorted because I was swollen. 4-5 months later, I returned for a touch up, because I was not pleased with how he left it, he then denied the touch up request. This experience opened my eyes with this particular artist, and that this location would hire such a person with the lack of customer service skills, and lack of artistry. I do not recommend anyone to use this artist, and if you must go to this location, please see a different tattoo artist.
