I had a terrible experience x2 at my local HD store (Evanston, IL) while buying a toilet. The service technician was nearly helpless and largely useless. I easily learned more from the printed labels than he seemed to understand. He then sent me for a cart (rather than sending for one via a customer service approach), and when I brought the wrong kind of flatbed, he sent me back. I asked several times if there was someone who could bring it to us, or have the item sent up front, but received no clear answer. After 20 minutes of me schlepping around the store, we got our product. Despite his repeated assurances that "Everything needed was in there" we found that the box had been opened and retaped, and we were missing the seat and some bolts. We returned 2 days later, and he was there again, much to my dismay. It took two trips to customer service, two consultations with a plumber, nearly 45 minutes, and a whole lot of frustration to do the OBVIOUS thing and just open another box and give us the parts. This was my first, second, and third suggestion. The head plumber recommended it as well, seeming incredulous that our server hadnt done this already. He had clear flexibility, imagination, and communication deficits. Anyway, we finally got what we needed after much frustration. Then this employee chased us down in the parking lot to talk with us about the inventory item (he gave us some other toilet seat for some reason) and how it needed to be scanned for inventory purposes, even though he had sent us on our way and the service desk told me we were all set. Dont plan on shopping with HD, Menards is just a few miles further and a customer service dream.

I had duplicate apartment keys made for my fiancee, so he could get in when I was at work. When I went to get the keys made the gentleman who helped me seemed a little out of it and didnt really understand my questions, but did make the keys pretty quickly. While he was making them I heard him laughing and telling another employee that he had been drinking some Jack Daniels before he came into work and was feeling "really good!" Now I dont care what people do with their personal time, but when it affects their ability to do their job I have a problem. Well needless to say NONE of the keys worked, some of the keys didnt even look close to the design of my other keys. Not that Im a key expert, but I would assume it would be rather difficult to screw up this badly. But because they took the bar codes off the keys after they scanned them, they had no way of tracking the mistake down or refunding me. Plus I just happened to throw away the receipt because who knew that something like this would happen?! Just a friendly reminder to always keep your receipt, no matter how cheap the product. Now Im stuck with a set of keys that dont work.

Im a contractor i have been in buisness for many years .. My company B&W REMODELING has spend over 1.5 million at The Home Depot in 2012 all over chicagoland .. The Home Depot located at 2201 is by far the worst home depot ever .. carts sit outside all wet then my murchendise gets wet and ruined by the time i get to the register .. There is one register open on a sat when its busy and there is a huge line for about 20min The person at the register scaned several items twice glad i caught it .. I asked for help finding something and nobody was working in the hardware departament asked for help twice .. The items are difficult to find unlike other home depos .. Im at a Home Depot store every day sometimes a couple times a day and I have never seen a more dirty, unorganized and misguided Home Depot ...

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! Completely incompetent bunch of CLOWNS in TRUCK RENTAL Department. I called 4 times on 6/20/17 between 2:30PM and 3:15PM, only to have my phone answered by some Latino guy in Truck Rental, and IMMEDIATELY HANG UP! No joke...this guy mumbled, then hung up on me 4 times. I tried calling for a Manager, and received no assistance whatsoever. I then tried calling for a general assistant, and a woman answered frantically, and says "I having a terrible day, ha!" Seriously? Does this place have no guidelines or customer service protocol to abide to? This store needs a serious review by corporate, and in particular the TRUCK RENTAL Department. If youre not interested in any customers business, then go out of business.

I just left your Home Depot managed by Mama Joy. I purchased an air humidifier, unfortunately when I got home put it together and filled the large tank I then noticed a major piece was missing. I wasnt sure what piece was missing I just knew it wasnt working right. I came back to your store to find out what I needed. Mama joy was not only concerned but extremely gracious and sweet about the whole interaction. I really wish more company leaders could take a lesson from Mama Joy! I will keep coming to the Home Depot on Oakton. Thanks Mama Joy keep on smilin

I went to this location couple of times ,and their customer service is really really bad compared to other locations . It took me forever to find someone to help me out . i thought it was being unreasonable ,but when i went there again the week after because i am close to the location ,they were still the worst in customer service .. If you know what you are doing then it is good ,but if you need help then this place is not for you . go to other location where they are very helpful .

Getting actual help in this store is almost impossible. It seems like this place is really understaffed and needs more people. I am constantly roaming looking for someone and when they do call someone - they are nowhere to be found. The whole place looks pretty deserted. They may as well shut the doors and turn the whole place into a warehouse and allow pickup and returns and ordering only online or via kiosk. It is fun wandering around

Dont buy paint here. I like Home Depot low-voc paint, but the service at the paint desk is awful and has been since I starting going there on and off, over a year ago. The same Infuriatingly slow, impolite staff every time. If I didnt have to buy paint to start a job tomorrow, I would have gone somewhere else today after waiting 10 minutes for service, because three staffers where helping one person.

The staff here make the place easy to navigate and are very helpful but lets be honest, the real prize of visiting The Home Depot are the hotdogs. These are legit and so well put together. Most places just throw the condiments and not care how sloppy but this lady was creating art when she put mine together. So good, Ill definitely come back here for more. They also sell super doughnuts!

In the same morning, I received great customer service from Frank on flooring, then walked over to the washing machines and received the worst customer service. An older lady (didnt capture her name) immediately started greeting other people when she found out I wasnt making a purchase that day. If she thinks shell get the sale later, shes mistaken. She clearly needs to be retrained.
