This is tricky. This Schnucks, used to be a store called The Market Place. The Market Place was well known for working with local farmers, but also raising the prices very high. This store was the only large store in the city of Columbia, IL, so they basically had a monopoly on prices. The nearest chain store is 15 minutes drive away, so they could do what they wanted. The good news is, somewhere last year, Schnucks bought the store, or at least is leasing it, and they have just started, this month, to remodel it and make it great, like a Schnucks.

This location is small with limited choices. Prices are higher than other places we do our weekly shopping. We stop here to pick up forgotten items and dont always find what we want. This location does NOT have a Seafood counter as the sign outside leads you to believe. Rather a corner with frozen fish selections. Bakery and craft beer selections are the bright spots but still over priced.

Each Schnucks I visit seems to have the right feel for the community they operate in, this one is no different and has several homey traits I wish those closer to my home had. Clean layout as usual and convenience items picked and placed for the local community.

When this store first opened it was very nice, but now most so much. Another family member and I were publicly shamed in the store twice now by other customers and some of the workers there. Such a disappointment!

It is the only big grocery store in Columbia therefore they can charge higher prices. It is a smaller Schnucks so they dont have a large selection. I wish they would get a salad bar.

Very friendly staff. If you need help finding something, just ask. Most of the time they will drop what they are doing and take you to the correct location.

This is not my normal Schnucks but it may be worth the drive. Friendly staff and courteous customers. They also had a New Jersey delicasy Pork Roll!!!

Are there better schnucks in the area? Sure. But with Boars Head deli meats and a pretty decent selection everywhere else, it is more than adequate.
