I had a terrible experience at Scooterworks. It was the first shop I went to when I moved to Chicago, as I recognized the name from their massive online mail-order store. This was a mistake. While they might attempt to convince you that theyre prices and quotes are fair, they are really just manipulative crooks, who are trying to take advantage of you. After charging me almost $200 JUST to re-jet my carburetor, they then attempted to convince me that I would cost me a MINIMUM of $800 to fix a bad crankshaft seal. After getting a second opinion from another shop in town, i learned that this problem can be fixed for less than $300. This shop does not know how to do business, and I strongly discourage you from trusting them with any of your repairs.

I dropped my bike off in April for an engine redo. I was given a comprehensive estimate and I had them start the work. While they were in there, they found that my clutch was basically destroyed. At the time, there was one guy in the known Scooter-world who made clutches for my type of bike. They sought him out and learned that he had retired. That means no clutch. No clutch means no bike. The guys at Scooterworks searched high and low, they exploited every source they had. It took 4 months of them calling all over the world and they found me a clutch. When I picked up the bike and paid the bill, they came in under the estimate amount. They really went above and beyond and they have a customer for life in me.

Customer service is crap, expect to get put down. If, for the love of all that is holy, you HAVE to go here for any reason, do as much research as you can, so as to be able to have a conversation with the staff as long as you can before they deem you not worthy to converse with. I have never used their mail order, but assume it is as good as their customer service = crap. They dont carry or service 4 stroke. For a city like Chicago where the scooter community is growing, i invite competitors to come and OWN this niche market, cause these guys are literally dropping the ball. Reminded me of being a child in a RC car hobby shop getting snubbed and told things like: If you have to ask you cant afford it.

I have been riding motorcycles for decades and have experienced the shop snobbery feeling so many times that I have almost come to expect it. When I visited Scooterworks (first scooter shop Ive been to) I had the same low expectations as usual but was completely won over, everyone was incredibly nice and did not mind spending time with me and answering a million questions even though I did not purchase a thing. A+ for me. Most shops I have been to feel like cliques, but I really felt welcome here. Highly recommend.

Your review Outstanding Experience - - Today What a fun place to visit! Everyone was welcoming, happy to help, and knowledgable. This is my first scooter so I had a lot of questions for the staff. They were patient answering everything, including details break-in procedures not covered by the manual. They even had a solution to the issue Ive been having with my mirrors–a solution even the dealership I bought the scooter from couldnt come up with. I just wish I lived closer to them.

I agree that things mustve really changed around, or theyre really working hard on making the customer experience better because I had a great experience with them back in August of 2010. Everyone was very nice, the deals were amazing, and we walked out with free lunch, door prizes, and a great deal on a Buddy 125 scooter w/ back rack (trust me i did a lot of research). Dont get bummed out reading these old reviews, check it out for yourself in person!

Awesome service, fantastic selection, any and all accessories for your scooter, what more could you ask for? Apart from that, they are generous enough to offer group rides, lunch and bbqs as well as helping out with local charitable organizations. This place really is the total package and for any scooter inquiries, this is the first place that I recommend checking out. A++++++++++++++++++++++++

Awesome place and awesome people! Meridee taught my wife how to ride before we purchased. She went above and beyond with her instruction. The showroom is spectacular with so many options to choose from.We left with a Buddy 50cc and will be going back next month to purchase a second. I couldnt recommend this place enough.

Great service maintenance here. Theyre always very attentive to my needs and do whatever they can to get parts on my Kymco 250cc when it needs them, on top of quick and efficient service. I recommend this company to any scooter rider!

Great experience, great variety of inventory, great service and great price. If you are buying a scooter dont go to a motorcycle place that has a handful of scooters. This place is an actual scooter dealer. Meridee was great.

I purchased my Genuine Buddy here 3 years ago and have it serviced regularly. The service department takes good care of my bike and are always happy to help. They have accessories for scooters as well as helmets and gear.
