This has become our "family place" for birthday celebrations, etc. Tucked into a space behind the kids shoe department, it is a tastefully decorated restaurant, with a limited, but quite appealing menu. The oddest thing about the Nordstrom Cafe is that its semi-cafeteria service ... you pick up a tray, and some items you just take to the register and pay for. Others (well, most), your order "in the line" and are given a holder with a numbered card to put on your table, where your food will be delivered. You get your drinks in line, but the servers will refill them for you. Ive been there many times, and this whole service model never gets any less strange. The food consists of well-designed salads, assorted sandwiches, pasta dishes, pizzas, and a handful of entrees. These are magnificent, and I keep having the Tuscan Roasted Salmon, which is not only delightful (accompanied by roasted hunks of vegetables and potato) but an amazing deal, not costing much more than some hamburgers within a block or two of the location. I must admit that I have not delved deeply into the menu ... I just discovered, on my most recent visit, that they have soups too (theyd been tucked back by the salad station, and are now up by the order window), which looked awesome, and an array of quite tempting desserts. Everything Ive seen/tasted there has been wonderful, and Im guessing that Id not be disappointed in ordering something other than the salmon, if for some reason I opted to not get the salmon. Nordstrom Cafe is one of those "hidden gems" that used to be a fixture in department stores, providing excellent dining experiences at a reasonable cost, in a somewhat arcane space. Ive never been in there when there was a wait for a table, but its always seems to be at least a quarter to half filled ... so is (hopefully) operating in that sweet spot where its got enough business to keep going, but not so much that its something that you have to PLAN to enjoy.

Out of shopping at 8 different bridal stores, my experience in the Nordstrom Wedding Suite has provided my favorite memories with my family and an environment where I have felt so valued. On my first visit, my sisters and mom came with my two nieces--we had so much fun with Julianne and the designer that was there at the store for his trunk show. On my second visit (when I even changed my opinion and price range completely, and was cared for just the same!), my little nephews came with my sisters and mom--we had such a great experience again. Everyone who was working there was helpful and kind even when they werent working with us directly. Everyone was attentive to our needs, but working directly with Julianne was even better. She communicates so well outside of the appointment, and when we have been there for our appointments, she has been incredibly personable, comfortable and knowledgeable on the gowns weve looked at. Whenever I was going for a certain look--she always found just what I was imagining or better. When putting into place the many details of a wedding day along with the emotions that you feel in the midst of it, it is refreshing to have such a great experience looking for what you will wear on the day you choose the man youll spend your life with. From my own experience and seeing the stylists work with a variety of clients, they have been caring and attentive! I want other women to experience even a little of what I did here and hopefully find what they will feel beautiful in on their wedding day.

This store may be over priced but there customer service is out of this world. Now some people probably try to take advantage of this. Theres the story where Nordstrom took back four car tires with no questions asked from a customer. Have you ever seen the automotive department here? Exactly! Im not sure if the story is real or an over exaggeration of there return policy but its fun to tell. Yes they will take back anything. This story has a great shoe department. They also have a policy called 4 on the floor. Every time I pick out a shoe they always bring me 3 similar shoes so I can compare. I do love the variety but Im kind of a Kenneth Cole guy, so its hard to switch me. Once they were able to but it doesnt happen often. This location has an entrance on Michigan Ave but is actually a block off of Michigan Ave. They were able to get that address by building a walkway mall that leads you to the back where there building sittings. I think it was brilliant. The many stores in the mall on the eat to Norstroms are really nice. . The store can be a little pricey but for people where money is no object, then Nordstrom is perfect. If you are on a budget then keep an eyes open for there half yearly sales, if your on a budget. It is a great store from top to bottom. Shopping here is an experience and not a chore. There are also nice comfy chairs by the esculators. Its a great place to veg out, when you are done shopping and you are left holding the bags.

This review is for the lingerie department at the Michigan Ave location. Even though this is the closest store to me I will travel out of my way to avoid having to go here. There never seems to be anyone actually working. The final straw was today when I eventually found someone to open a room for me. I had 5 different items to try on & once I was done I needed a few other sizes. Does anyone check on you? No. I had to get dressed & go myself. Meanwhile I can hear a few of them in the back talking & laughing. Every woman who came into the dressing was asked if someone had helped them, every single person said no. No surprise there. The girls here will avoid eye contact as youre standing there with items, the lines are ALWAYS long, & they move about as fast as molasses. Last time I was here it took over 30 mins to do a return! Oh, & it was all purchased on my Nordstrom credit card. The easiest returns ever! I will not come back here again, Id rather drive out to Oakbrook next time I have to try something on.

Im frequently on business in Chicago and was in this store to get a quick tie near the end of March 2013. Honestly, the mens section and the shoe sections looked like they had just run a herd of cattle through them. Very much a mess. The service was very good although the woman helping me was obviously trying to find the most expensive tie that they had in the entire store, as every tie she brought me was $50. more than the last. Ive been in here before, and generally find the prices absolutely outrageous even for Michigan Avenue, plus the Chicago sales tax is ridiculously high. I only recommend this store for people who have nothing better to do with their extra money. Nordstrom Rack or Ross are much better choices. I wont buy any more $225 ties there, but would go to the outlets next time.

I was really disappointed that Nordstrom wasnt able to work with me to find my wedding dress. After multiple attempts to schedule an appointment online (failing due to their booking tool being down), I finally got on the phone with one of their reps. She informed me that the style of dress I was looking for (something short for an end-of-August wedding in Chicago) was limited in availability. She said that they would not be willing to bring in dresses I had found online and liked to try on during my appointment. For everyday clothes, Im not a fan of buying online. So, Im sure not going to buy my wedding dress online. Generally, I have great things to say about Nordstrom, but unfortunately that was not the case this time.
