I was surprisingly disappointed with BHLDN Chicago after a recent visit. It was my first appointment I made for trying bridal dresses, and I thought it would be my only appointment since I had reviewed many of their dresses online ahead of time and loved so many. I came to the visit with my mom and two sisters. We arrived around 11:45 to browse before my 12:15 appt because I was told to arrive at least 15 minutes early, but the store did not open until noon. When we came back, we were greeted promptly, and told that our consultant would call our name when ready upstairs. We browsed for a bit and went upstairs. We werent called into our room until closer to 12:30 after we let another staff member know we were ready. The room was large and well decorated, but it was dirty. There were several dust bunnies, and it looked like something had been spilled on the table and was not cleaned up. Our consultant was Melissa. While she was very kind and made me feel comfortable, she was not very helpful. She did not seem to get the vintage feel I was going for- there was one dress that I had picked that she told my mom she had "nixed" for me because she didnt think I would like the fit. She then suggested her own dress for me and had me try it on, but it was totally off the mark. I would have much preferred to try on the dress that she took away. I wish a little more time would have been spent reviewing the survey I filled out ahead of time. Additionally, we felt like we had to ask for accessories. I mentioned several times I wanted to wear a chunky statement necklace for the wedding, but it wasnt until we asked that a necklace was brought to us. No other accessories were suggested. The 1 hour appointment went much to quickly. I would absolutely recommend longer time slots being available, especially for first timers. Additionally, everyone with me felt like there was no closure at the end of the consultation. There was no mention of a follow up or what to do if we wanted to purchase right away. Just that I should contact her if I needed my sizes for any of the dresses I was interested in. After that, we went to browse bridesmaids dresses. My sister found a couple to try on. The consultant in the fitting room was passive aggressively rude to almost everyone (we think her name was Lina). She asked if she could help us with a size for a dress and I mentioned seeing a dress downstairs in the glass casing that we wanted to try. Her response was "That dress is over $600". Im not sure if she thought we didnt want to buy something at that price point, but we certainly would have if the quality met the beauty of the dress. We never got a chance to see how it fit my sister. This same consultant was consistently telling people to leave the fitting room, and asking us to go into the large room with couches. My sister called me in to help her a couple of times, and we were always brushed back out quickly. The consultant seemed more interested in keeping people out of the fitting room than actually helping anyone. It did not make sense to wait in the large room, as there were no mirrors in there for those trying on dresses to look at themselves. So many people just waited in the lingerie room outside of the fitting room and looked it, but she didnt seem to like us waiting in there either. I guess I was anticipating a more magical first time experience. But instead, I felt rushed and disappointed, and definitely was not made to feel special. I did find 1 dress that I liked during my bridal fitting, but then found another dress on my own that I liked more (Carmen) while looking at bridesmaids dresses. I will likely purchase Carmen just to try on again at home since it is so reasonable prices, but I am also going to another bridal shop since my first experience at BHLDN wasnt what I hoped it to be.

Lets just say the dresses are beautiful, the staff who help you in the salon are all lovely, however, their company policies are BS! I found the perfect dress at BHLDN, they told me I should order it as soon as possible given my wedding was 4 months away and it could take up 2 weeks for the dress to come and if I needed alterations blah blah.... So even though the dress was a little over my budget, I was feeling a time crunch (which they placed on me) and I decided to take the leap and buy it. The dress arrived at my parents house in just 2 days (so much for 2 weeks), which at first I was thrilled about..... until exactly 33 days later when I get an email that the dress I spent $1800 on, was now on sale for $1200.... I immediately call and see if they can do a price adjustment or let me return the dress and re-purchase it for the discounted price and they stated they had a 30 day return policy from the date you received your dress, thats it, no questions asked. Ignore the fact they said it would take 7-10 business days from the order date to receive the dress and it took 2 days. If it had taken the 7-10 business days, I would have still been in the 30 day window to return. The dress was shipped to my parents so I havent even had a chance to try it on, its still in the original shipping packaging, but since I got it 3 days too early, they couldnt do anything for me. Given getting married is a fun exciting time, but also the most financially stressful time in a persons life, being in the bridal business they know this and you would think they could make an exception. Its 3 days.... Its never even been taken out of the packaging. But nope. Nothing. I am happy I found a beautiful dress, but this whole thing leaves me with a sour taste and I do not recommend BHLDN and will not be returning.

My mom, my sister the bride to be , and me ( maid of honor) her sister We went there. And a lovely experience. My sister always wanted to come to Bhldn ever since she started planning her wedding. And we finally made it to downtown Chicago. The weather was perfect. Catherine was my sisters consultant. Right when we walked into our own special room. It was nothing we had before we go wedding dress shopping. There was my sisters own fitting room & a huge place to sit and lovely angled mirrors & even hooks to hang our favorites, Love that. Love everything about how we where treated on our mom & daughters trip to Bhldn. All the dresses have that modern feel with a touch of elegance to them. Yes the selection is small. But we ( mom and daughters) all like a few dresses. Two of dresses she tried on where in our buget $1200 & one was even on sale. Love that & I like That one the best too. The styles are just what my sister wanted to try on. We left there feeling happy and knowing that she could come back and get what she wanted. I just wish that there was more time in our appointment. But after our appointment made up for it. We had fun looking around upstairs and downstairs. I just wish that there where more brides maid dresses. The selection is slim. Just like bride dresses. But very friendly staff and not pushy.
