One word comes to mind when I think of this place - CLAUSTROPHOBIA. This place is disgustingly tiny and I always feel like Im in the way. You cant get up and down the aisle without stepping on someone or hitting a person with your cart. Additionally, its dirty and kinda smells. Chinatown Market, compared to many of the other Asian grocery stores in the area (HK market, Richwell market, etc) is super tiny. The variety is also on the limited side and not all of the produce is fresh. On top of that service is kinda blah, not surprisingly considering its Chinatown, but ehh..still come here time to time for Asian ingredients though... On the positive side, there is a private parking lot...

As others talked about how dirty inside and rude, glad to tell you the whole place is RUDE. As photo I put up demonstrates, typically blocks the alley with vendors, who dont just unload--but park and wait, and wait and wait till the market sends someone out--blocking the alley. This ensures no one can drive down it to park in Ton Shen Healths shared lot. Mal educado, ill bred and ignorant management.

Meh. Nothing special compared to other grocery stores in Chinatown. Average prices. They do have a private parking lot, which is rare. Richwell & Starlight II nearby also have parking lots, however. Richwell also boasts a bakery & both are bigger than Chinatown Market. I will note that this is nicer than the other smaller places in Chinatown, but on the same level as Richwell & Starlight II.

Typical Chinese ethnic grocery centrally situated in the Chinatown business strip, next to the new Chicago Public Library, with limited free parking by the building and parking validation for nearby Chinatown Parking Lot. A good selection of fresh veggie, meat and seafood. It can be a weekly grocery shopping stop for the whole family, and also a quick pit stop just to grab some tasty snack.

Bought hotpot meat (beef), prepared everything for a good hotpot, opened the meat package, only to find that the bottom part of the package (hidden by a layer of meat on top, is inedible, pure fat. I had to throw out half of the package. I have never been tricked by a Chinese market until now, and this place lost my business with its dishonest practices.

It made me so disappointed. I bought pork ribs in the market, they asked me :" do you want the ribs to be chopped?" I said "yes please. thank you. " when I come home and open the bag. I really cant recognize that is the ribs I bought. They are all soft bones like rib tips. But Im sure what I bought is ribs with few rib tips. Why they cheated me?

Great selection of products and produce. Well stocked and quite clean. They dont have any products that we could find from S.E. Asia, mostly Japan and China. But that probably makes sense given the name of the market and its location. If you spend over $50 at the market they will give you validation for $2 parking for three hours. Great market!

Super packed and the selection of produce is very limited. I should have never grabbed a shopping basket - your hitting people left and right with it. Super cramped. Parking is ridiculous so plan to park on the street. Really nothing special about this place. If your up north - H-Mart makes this place look like a mouse.

Good location, but its small (limited selection of products), a little dirty/slippery/poor lighting, and very crowded. Most Asian/Chinese markets a few minutes away (by car) are bigger and cleaner. However, if you are in Chinatown for a meal and just want pick up couple of things, its very convenient.

Chinatown Market offers an authentic foods and beverages from China. Its a very cozy place where you can find live fish and other sea food. Its very convenient to stop there and get back in the L system or park in the Chinatown parking lot for as little as $3.00 when you validate it.

A lot of the items I purchase are for a dollar, everything seems reasonably priced compared to some of the places around. Granted its not the cleanest place ever but the variety is good and the service is fast.

Its a super crowded market on the weekends, but with lot of choices. The selection is huge compared to Richwell & May Flower, but it was hard to navigate inside with almost no space to turn.

Convenience, good varity, reasonable price for Chinese grocery. I found what I needed for my Chinese meal, vege, dry scallope, green tea bags, meat, seafood and fresh Asian fruits.

Super small Chinese grocery store, but has a lot of stuff. From hard to find items in the suburbs to common items that a Chinese eat. I will come back again if I am in the area.

Its ok. Its so small and selection is limited. They have good seafood and meat options. Veggies are always limp. I wish they had bigger space. And its a bit dirty in there.

Great selection of frozen and fresh seafood. Service is 0! They are totally unfriendly and even hostile, like buying stuff from them is bothering them. Heck of an attitude.

You can find all the Asian snacks here! Green tea KitKat, strawberry KitKat, giant porky and many more! But be sure to check the expiration dates before you buy anything.

Great selection of vegetables, drinks, snacks, noodles, frozen potstickers, sauces, icecream, and rice. My advice is to not go with a big group, the store is a bit tiny.

I can get great Chinese food there and the price is fair there. However, this market is too small and there is always so many people... We need space !!!

This store is very busy. The selection is plentiful. The checkout staff was friendly if you spoke the Chinese dialect. Overall - I like the store.

Typical Asian market. Lots of food, fewer pots, pans, and other kitchen supplies.
