When Twisted Tattoo Studio opened a half block from us on Elston, my wife and I thought, "whats next -- an adult bookstore?" But then, owner Nado Tataujes opened Cafe Urbano two doors down, and with manager Gerardo G Pavon and the rest of the Urbano family, theyve become part of our family. Cafe Urbano is the perfect place to chillax and have a great coffee with a wonderful snack & sandwich offering (my favorite is the breakfast panini with bacon! yum!). The vibe is decidedly hip: floors are a patchwork of various woods, while local artists works hang on walls refit with wood rescued from an old barn. Even the shops shelving is cool -- supported with plumbing pipe. A eclectic mixture of music is piped in for your listening pleasure, or sit and talk with friends, have a chat with G, or tune out and surf using free WiFi. In any case, Urbano will have you coming back for more.

Cafe Urbano is a true oasis in the neighborhood, ive been coming here since they opened. There arent many other options around here, and the cafe really fills the niche for a meeting place and cultural hub, not just a coffee & sandwich place. Art shows, music shows, lit readings, and more. Try finding that anywhere else in Irving Park... The Metropolis coffee is great, always fresh. Abuelita is good if you want something sweeter. The sandwiches and pastries are tasty, my favorites are the twisted chicken and the pulled pork special when they have it. The low reviews here are baffling, the staff is always great and the food is fresh and made to order, so keep in mind it takes longer to prepare. Most times its also a 1-man show, so if its busy they may not have time to chat. If you want fast food, get a muffin.

Small cafe (8 two-tops and a bar with seven stools). Two outlets. Free wi-fi with password. Decorated in excellent local art, mostly by tattoo artists. Instrumental jazz on the audio at low volume. Hardwood floors and rough wood trim. Nice menu of sandwiches. Chai is from a box - I didnt both to ask which. Nice selection of loose leaf teas. A few pastries. The barrista (stoned or half asleep or both) was verrrrrry slow to prepare both tea and breakfast burrito on a completely empty Wednesday morning at 715am. The burrito and salad were very good when they came.

Ive been here several times and the place is very unique with art for sale all around the walls. The coffee and food is good and I like spending time in cafes during the summer to get out of the heat and get work done although recently the heat in the cafe has been unbearable. The staff has always been very kind and makes the cafe worth coming back to. I cant help but think what the heat is like behind the counter for the staff working with the Panini press and coffee machines when Im burning up just waiting on my coffee.

This place was very nice. To be honest I have drove several times there and never saw it, but thank god for Yelp. I was looking for coffee place near my house and found Cafe Urbano very close of me. When I got to the place I was impressed of how nice it was and it was actually pretty big this coffee shop. Place has a lot of arts in their walls and look like kinda hipsters kinda place. I love visiting coffee shops and for sure will stop more often there in this one.

This place is the bomb - meaning superb! They use Metropolis Coffee, a tie with Intelligentsia for local coffee roasters. Place his hip, relaxing, a cool chill place to grab an wide varies of speciality brews. True coffee mixologists. I highly recommend the Horchata Mocha over i.e.! Lots a local art work and vibes. Workers are very professional and spot on. 6 starts in my book and I was a barista in places in Oregon for 4 years.

Have been here several times since it opened. Great concept. Nice cozy place with delicious coffee and a blend of Mexican and American food and drink items. Very limited menu, long wait for pretty much any item ordered. Last several times Ive stopped in, could not order food. They were out of items or kitchen was closed well before closing time. Ill stick with my favorite Cafe in Pilsen!

Great cafe with a feel reminiscent of when the Jumping Bean first opened on 18th. Cool local art on the walls. Mana or la Ley music piping through the speakers. Corner prime spot with large windows make this a sun drenched spot great for people watching or just hanging out. Solid coffee and even shakes for the kiddies. Just wish the staff was a little friendlier.

My abuelita mocha was wonderful, but took about 15 minutes to come out. We also ordered some food that never came out. We asked about the food after a half hour of waiting. They promised it would come soon, but after another half hour (in which time people who ordered the same thing after we did got their food), we asked for our money back and left.

Cafe Urbano has a great atmosphere and some pretty good food as well. Ive always been a fan of the drinks here. While all of that is great, the cafe is extremely hot. I dont know if its illegal or not to have their workers working in that extremely hot cafe, but if I were them Id look into it.

The salad is delicious, the coffee is tasty and the sandwich was decent. The vibe is pretty chill, free WiFi and good music playing in the background. Id go back. Would have given them 5 stars if the staff was a bit more inviting. Stone face does not make for a friendly face.

G and his comrades have created a warm, hip oasis in our otherwise hardscrabble neighborhood. Great Metropolis coffee, baked sweets and healthy eats. Local artists work on the walls adds to the creative, community-oriented ambiance. Welcome Cafe Urbano to the West Walker hood!

Great food & drinks, paired with excellent service. I like that there are frequent live musicians; that said, I dont think they need to be amplified in a space as small as this. Hate to be the crabby old "turn down the music" guy, but conversation was a bit difficult.

Free wifi, quiet, well lit. Great place to study or get some work done while enjoying a tea or coffee and bakery item. They also have sammies and other cafe items. Will be paying a visit soon!

Pretty cool little place. Tried the tuna egg melt which has scrambled eggs in it. The tuna salad is home made and you can tell. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The house drip coffee is potent.

Such a great addition to this neighborhood. Their coffee is great and so is their breakfast burrito. I also like to stock up on coffee beans here, be it Metropolis or their house brand.

I loved everything about this quiet, artsy cafe, from the breakfast burritos to the coffee to the nice quiet place to sit with a laptop, and last but not least the cool music.

I love this place, but seems like food and service has been a little dicey in the last month or so. Hopefully just a short phase, cuz this place was really great.

Great spot, relaxed ambience and amazing coffee. A little on the pricey side for a broke college student but awesome place to do homework. Free WiFi, great people.
