I would rate me and my familys experience with Georgia Eye Associates as a one star because while the experience had clear good points - the eye glasses center had knowledgeable and helpful staff who were clearly looking out for the best interests of the patient, and friendly nurse staff were kind and efficient - they were not sufficient to cover the frankly terrible points of the visit. I was a new patient, and was seen to by Dr. Winski (with whom I had an appointment). While the measuring of the prescription, etc. was mainly done by the nurse staff, when I actually got to see the doctor, we barely touched on my eye health. I timed the visit, and did not see the doctor for more than 7 minutes. Was the doctor personable? Yes. However, I have never before been see to by any eye doctor in a one-on-one appointment in 7 minutes, and largely felt the experience was simply the doctor going through the motions and did not come away with any true understanding of how my eye health was at that particular appointment. This was the first black mark. Now, I am a person who carefully reads all paperwork, and assumes that the words on the page mean what they say. However, this was not the case here. I regularly wear contacts and did not come to the visit expecting to need anything more than possibly a new pair of glasses. When I got to the page of paperwork about contacts - the page reading in italics that the patient was responsible for all costs associated with contacts (to my understanding, if there was a fitting, etc.). This was NOT what was meant by the paperwork - instead, the meaning was to pay between $50-$75 (I forget the exact figure) to simply SPEAK about contacts. (This did not happen in my appointment.) When I and my mother (who had accompanied my brother through his visit) protested the charge at the end, the good doctor was abominably rude to my mother and myself claiming that, "If you didnt want contacts, then why did I waste 20 minutes of my time speaking with your son. Next time, dont sign the form." (As a point of information, both my mother and brother are quite good at telling time and both concur on the fact that Dr. Winski did not see him for even 15 minutes.) I will be looking for another doctor to see, as this sort of experience for new patients is questionable at best. I was simply unsatisfied by my experience and my mother and brother both agree with me.

I called this office to make an appointment (new patient) , I explained to the Receptionist that I was a diabetic and that I was having a problem with my eyes. I gave her the information she requested to schedule an appointment; after a few minutes she informed me that my insurance was not active. Well, I knew that my coverage was active and told her so, I offered her the phone number to the Provider Line for my Insurance Carrier from the back of my card, she informs me that she could not call the number and that I would have to. I reiterated the fact that this phone number is for the Physicians office to call for such matters. She continued to tell me that she could not call because that would be violating my privacy and HIPAA policies, she told me I would have to call. I did not press this issue with her. Just to confirm that my medical coverage was active, I called my Insurance Carrier anyway just to be told that my my coverage is active. I called the office back, I spoke to the same lady that I had spoken to previously, After going over our previous conversation, I then let her know that she should have taken the responsibility to call the Provider Line to verify medical coverage. You see, I worked in Healthcare and I am very aware of what her actions should have been on that first phone call. I let her know that the Rep stated she should have called the Provider Line as she was not getting accurate information from the website (this happens sometimes). Then she asked for my phone number, she assured me that she would call me back after she verified my coverage, that was almost 2 weeks ago still no phone call. Ive worked in customer service for over twenty year to include the Healthcare environment, For me it was bad enough that I am having issues with my eyes and have to schedule a Drs visit, its even worse that you reach someone in that office that does not use good customer service skills, show empathy or even willing to perform her responsibilities within her scope. My first impression was not a very good one thanks to MY experience with trying to schedule an appointment as a new patient at this office. The only reason Im giving one star is because I have to in order to post my comments.

I had cataract surgery done on both eyes by Dr. Gillian. I was very hesitant about this surgery because I have had a torn retina but both Dr. Winks (who helped save my vision 14 years ago during the retina issue by seeing me on an emergency basis and arranging for me to be seen by a retinal surgeon also immediately) and Dr. Gilliam calmed my nerves and talked me through the procedure. I am so glad because not only was the surgery as easy as they had promised, but my vision has gone from truly bad and deteriorating quickly to amazing! This was a life-changing procedure for me and I am truly grateful to everyone at Georgia Eye. My husband, sons, and I have been going to Georgia Eye Associates since 1998 and I have never not had anything other than 5 star service from them. Beth in contacts is wonderful, Beth Dr.Gillians assistant is wonderful, and Dr. Gillian and Dr. Winske are beyond wonderful. I love this practice and highly recommend them.

I recently had cataract surgery on both eyes. It is a simple, straightforward and painless experience. Dr. Gillian is highly qualified, and the bonus is that the surgery (in my location) is performed at the Gwinnett Medical Center, which is second to none in my opinion. Nurses and staff there are caring and friendly, and upon leaving you are given aftercare instructions by the nurse, not just handed a document. My vision is much better than I had even expected prior to going in. I would recommend no other office for your eye care needs, plus they also sell glasses. Highly satisfied.

so i called this optical office for my wife, daughter and myself to book an appointment. the lady stated they can only see 2 people per family. so of i want to get all the of us glasses i have to make two trips. this place may have a large selection of frames but they can keep them. its hard enough balancing schedules to get things done so they want to make a role to make it even harder..thanks eye associates! your policies exemplify why the medical industry is so difficult to deal with

I am so glad a friend recommended this group. I saw Dr. Gillian and he did my eye surgery (blepharoplasty). I was very pleased with the staff at the Lawrenceville office and also at the hospital. Both provided very good service. I am beyond pleased with the results from the surgery. I would recommend this group and especially Dr. Gillian to anyone looking for eye doctors. I am willing to drive 1.5 hrs. from my house to visit this group. Thanks you guys for all you did!
