Today, I went to this PetSmart because I was looking for a decent looking rat for a pet. Upon arriving at the store, I was quite energetic and excited to meet my possible pet, but I was highly disappointed when I found the environment that they were living in. The cage was a complete mess. It looked as if the cage hasnt been cleaned for a good 2 weeks. There were trails of droppings and food everywhere. There were three rats in the cage at that time, two of them were sleeping while one was up and about (around 5 pm at this time). The one that was still awake was vigorously scratching itself without taking a break. It seem as if the rat had some type of flea or some problem that had kept it from going to sleep. It had calmed down for a couple of minutes, but it didnt take long for it to wake up and continue to scratch itself again. Even though the rat looked as if it had problems, I still wanted to try to give it a chance. I was a bit iffy when I had asked an employee at the store to take him out for me and let me hold him. Note: I am a new pet owner, but I have knowledge on the behaviors of rats before hand. When I asked her, she looked at me in a very hesitant manner. She said ok, but not long after that she adds that I must take it out, because the rats bite. I was a bit hesitant because I know rats bite when they are either afraid or have been poorly socialized, which causes them to inflict pain. But, I did not realize how bad the rats were treated until the employee said that the rats drew blood when they bite. Factoring in the disgusting cage, the irritable rash, and the behavior of the rat, I was inclined to write this review in order to enlighten future customers of the environment of this PetSmart. I have visited many other ones before this, and I have to say the one in Scenic Highway takes care of their animals much better than this PetSmart. I came here due to the high ratings, but when I had arrived, it was a total disappointment. Hopefully, this review will help them improve their store quality and their pet management compared to their counterparts.

This location doesnt even deserve the one star. Do not bring your pets here for boarding. The staff is lazy and they do not properly look after the pets. I have boarded my dog at this location for at least 2 years. She wore a tiny bow in her hair each time I boarded her and the staff never told me hair bows were not allowed. The last time they kept my pet they brought her out to me with food and wet hair matted to her face.I asked them what happened and they didnt know.I asked why didnt someone just take her across the hall to grooming to pull the hair back up if the bow came out. They told me it was not their job. So the dog basically had a difficult time drinking water and eating while she was in their care and no one even bothered to pull the back out of her face so the dog could eat and drink while in their care for 3 days. The manager proceeded to tell me that hair bows are not allowed and its in their policy. I asked if I can see the policy and she said no. I feel i should had been informed of this 2 years ago when Petsmart was gladly accepting my money. I could have chosen another facility or kept my dog groomed in a manner where this would have never been an issue. I took my dog to another boarding facility in the area and she wore a small ponytail when I dropped her off. The business has no policy on how animals should be groomed for boarding. When I picked her up, she had a different bow in her hair and it was neatly pulled up. The staff informed me that her hair came loose but the groomer fixed it so she drink and play.I didnt even inform the business of my experience with Petsmart. It was nice to know that there are other companies that value my business and provides great customer service and cares about my pet.This petsmart location is declining and I do not recommend you leave your pet here.

I have been shopping at this store for 15+ years. I know a lot of big box retailers do not typically retain employees, but this location is a slight exception. There are familiar faces always present when Im in the store, I think maybe a couple of the cashiers. You just dont see retention as a priority most times out of places like this, and that is a shame. The store is usually pretty clean, except the front entrance way. They really need to clean/replace that floormat as it looks like it has 15 years of dog, dirt and whatever else has crossed over it all the time. I DO NOT like bringing my pets into the store, because I dont want them having to walk across it. They usually have everything I need, on a rare occasion have they been out of something and if that is the case, I just go around the corner to their competitor. Most of the folks in the store are friendly and typically greet you. They ask if there is anything they can help you find. All what I expect when shopping somewhere. Overall, Ill continue to shop at this location since it is the closest to where I live and generally convenient for most of my errand running on the weekends. -1 star for the yucky entrance

Previous visit: Picked up my mini schnauzer and he had crust all over this left eye, which was also matted in his hair. Had to take my dog to the vet for antibiotics for his eye. His eyes were perfectly fine when I dropped him off. The staff are very lazy and had no idea how this occurred. Current visit: Today I picked up my dog from an overnight stay and he was suppose to be in doggie day camp for the day. Well, when I got to the facility he was not in the play area with the other dogs. I was told that he was "accidentally" removed from play time for supper. Crazy part is, my dog only eats once a day in the morning(which they were absolutely aware of and he had already eaten for the day). And believe me, they didnt forget to charge me for doggie day care. Accidents happen, but I dont understand why he wasnt taken back to camp once the mistake was realized. Enough chances given and I am an Unsatisfied customer, so we shall not return

I have been a petsmart customer for 3yrs, I moved from ny to duluth ga and I was so glad I chose PETSMART IN DULUTH!! I leave my ricky for camp n over night stays, I remember the first night I left him for 3 nites overnight. I cried on my flight back to ny, he has never stayed anywhere..the staff was AMAZING!!! ricky loves going there. I KNOW THEY TREAT HIM GOOD,IF NOT HE WOULDNT WANT TO GO and I know I would never ever left him there.. he loves camp. I also use the grooming. I love the staff everyone is so great, n it feels great when I walk in and they address ricky right away! Thank you guys for all you do, I know Im a real pain when when I have to fly out last minute. But you guys always come through. THANK YOU AGAIN HAPPY CUSTOMER! :)
