The a la carte menu is awesome... I would go there every day if I had the money too. It can be a bit pricey, but when you want good a la carte go there. They have a good beer/drink/tea selection. I like that they have so many varieties of cereals, legumes, and coffee... although Ive never bought any. I also love that you can weigh out your own spices... saves a lot of money when you dont want to buy more than what you need. They have organic veggies, but I would just as well go to Publix for better prices. The store is interesting and has a variety of foods/items that you wont find anywhere else. My only issue is their fresh foods. Couple months ago I bought store labeled fresh mozzarella, shrimp, tuna, and steak... come to find out it was ALL bad. Within two days I had opened all the packages... and you could smell the rot. That was a good 20.00 worth of food (maybe more). Maybe the fridges werent working, maybe the employees are a little too lazy to check. It was really surprising that 4 out of 4 of my items had gone bad, there was no excuse. Please be careful what fresh foods you buy there... if you are going to buy an item at least poke a hole in it to give it a whiff. I like every other facet of the store, but their fresh foods is something I will forever stay away from! Maybe they should open up a meat counter so they can keep a better eye... I would give the place a higher rating if I hadnt bought rotten food.

I first went to NLM close to 15 years ago. Over the years, the store has improved greatly. I know many of the workers personally and know things from the inside somewhat, I can say honestly that many of the workers have super pride in their store and love working there. I prefer dealing with the professionalism and attitude of the NL employees than at many other grocery stores. The store becomes increasingly appealing for people who may have not liked the laid back 70s image of co-ops, opening up the benefits of shopping at a natural foods store and co-op to all. For being fairly small, they have a great variety of products, and are well-organized. My favorite sections are beer, cheese, frozen. I often recommend their meat section to meat eaters who care about quality. Ive have mixed feelings about deli selections Ive tried, but some things Ive had have been excellent. I dont like morning food and I was impressed with theirs! Their pricing is right for the area. Sure, it isnt the cheapest grocery in town--it isnt Walmart! You CAN save money there depending on how you shop. If you want more laid-back alternative--go to Bread and Roses. If you want a similar store with more items, Earth Fare or Whole Foods might be for you. But I like New Leaf the best.

Honestly, this rating goes straight to the food bar. You guys need to seriously get your stuff together. I literally came in for kale salad at 2:30pm and the lady said it would be ready by tonight. So, I came back in at 6:15 and still no kale salad. Literally she went to the back and came out and said "its on the list to make but we dont know when exactly itll be ready" After that, I proceeded to the nearest customer service rep an told them what just happened and when the staff member approached them about this, they said they werent going to make it.......... After telling me literally 10 minutes earlier that it would be made. Half ass service from a half ass staff. I come in here every day looking for the same thing and half the time its there when they say and the other half is just whenever they feel like it. Nothing is on a schedule it seems. Like "hey, yeah kale salad is always made at this time on these days" no. Nothing. Not the first time, years and years of this. And its not the workers fault, theyre just doing their jobs, Its the managers responsibility and this is the result of poor training. GET IT TOGETHER. ITS KALE SALAD.

Do not eat from their deli section. Today at lunch I purchased vegan spinach noodles from this section and sat at their cafe area to eat my lunch. After taking the first bite I noticed it tasted weird/rotten so I spat it out, and looking down I saw the expiration date had expired a week ago, when the original shelf life is already long to begin with. I wouldnt have been so upset, but this is the second time my lunch has been ruined by them, the first time I had a small piece of glass but I had already left the store so I just threw it out. Honestly this needs to be brought to corporate offices attention because this is a health hazard. This store is supposed to be healthy, not be the root cause of sickness. I have been a long time customer and preferred them over Earthfare, and Whole Foods is too far for me to drive on my work break. Honestly do not eat their deli food they need to pay attention and take their customers seriously. The managers response to me was quote "We are working on it."

My husband and I go here weekly. We love the coupons that are always in the mail! New Leaf has great deals on kombucha and dark chocolate. We also love the Oh My Yoh! triple layer yogurt-- its amazing. Produce always looks picture perfect, the store and grounds are immaculate, parking is easy and they have the neatest little gifts. I got a great salt lamp! New Leaf is not cheap, so do not come looking for Wal*Mart prices, you will not find them here. You also wont find GMOs. New Leaf is very similar to Whole Foods and Fresh Market- the focus is on fresh, natural and organic living. Interactions with staff have been mostly pleasant but also annoying, so if you want to skip their opinions about your choices, just tell them youll find it on your own (the store is rather small) or do not engage further than a hello. I am not sure how, but a discussion about the shampoo I chose suddenly became political! Not fun...

I chose to have a breakfast my organization has each month catered by NewLeaf. One month they did it properly and the order was ready for pick up exactly as scheduled. The food was excellent, and the pick up and paying process was seamless. We liked it so much, we catered with them the next month. The bakery manager confirmed my order and gave me a pick up time of 8am. I arrived at 8:15am and NO ORDER was ready. This was a breakfast for 100+ people and the manager had forgot to process the order into the system. Needless to say, I was very upset. Luckily, Wes was there the morning of pick up and worked with the kitchen staff to prepare a breakfast, even though it wasnt exactly what we ordered. He also gave us a discount. I did have to wait 45+ minutes for them to prepare it, but it worked out in the end. Internal communication needs to be improved, but I do appreciate their efforts to make up for their mistake.

Despite some bad reviews, New Leaf is fantastic. I moved to Tallahassee from south Florida, and things here seem to be more expensive in general, not just at New Leaf. In fact, New Leaf has the best prices on all of the vegan products, fresh foods, and grains that my husband and I purchase regularly. Cheaper than Publix sales prices, cheaper than Earth Fare, and everyone here is just so nice. They have the best fresh baked vegan treats in the bakery, and were prompt and exceptional when I ordered a vegan cheesecake from them with 1 days notice. It was delicious. Everything here is. And yes, sometimes maybe you will find something expired on a shelf, but that has happened to us at Publix and Whole Foods many times too. And in addition to the low prices we save more money with our owner deals, coop deals, and student discount. Also their fresh made sushi is cheaper than Publix and so delicious.
