I went to Bloomingdale Eye Care to receive a new contact lens and glasses exam as I ran out of contacts and my current glasses prescription was over 3 years old. The exam went fine, and the doctor gave me a trial pack of 5 lenses for each eye. I was told to schedule a follow up appointment the following Monday and they had to order more trial packs which I would receive on Monday to get me by until I could receive my official order. The initial trial pack lasted until that Sunday as expected, but when I showed up for my appointment on Monday I was told that they still had to order the trial packs that should have been ordered the week before. They rescheduled my appointment for that following Friday, and I asked if I could get another brand to get me through until the order came in. I was told no, and told to check back in a few days when they arrive. That Wednesday I called in to check to see if the order had arrived yet, and was told that the contacts were on "back order" and it could take a few days or a couple of weeks. I told them I understood that sometimes that happens, and then again requested to be given a temporary trial of another brand to get me through until they arrived. I was again told no, and then also told that if I wanted trials of another brand I would need to schedule another eye exam. Appalled at this idea, I double checked just to be sure of what they were telling me and I asked "So I just paid for an eye exam last week, you want me to pay for another one to get a temporary brand to get me through until the trials Im supposto have comes through, and then pay for a third exam to get those trials?" She said "yes, that is what you would need to do" Upset I then requested her to email me my prescription and I would go have it filled somewhere else. I was then told that I do not have a prescription until after my next appointment for which I need to be wearing the contacts, that are on back order, for at least an hour. I asked her how I could possibly not have a prescription, I had the eye exam, paid for it, got the initial trial set of contacts that I need a prescription to get. I was told that I have to have 2 eye exams before the prescription is finalized. I then asked why and stated that I have never had to have 2 separate exams to get 1 prescription before. To which I was arguably told "well that wasnt here" Essentially I and VSP were charged and did not receive anything other than my wasted time. I then had to go out of network to Target Optical to get another eye exam on short notice, of which I paid $140 for out of pocket. But, with the exceptional customer service that Target provides, they called Bloomingdale Eye Care to try and get the original prescription information so they could just give me the trials needed to go back to Bloomingdale and get the final exam to fill the original prescription. The Target employee was met with the same rude customer service that I was and told no. The first thing the Target employee said to me was "Wow, now I understand why your so frustrated..." After my new eye exam, Target not only was able to write a prescription with just one visit, but also gave me the 5 pack trial pairs of the brand I needed, plus an additional 10 pairs of a second brand just incase I had any issues receiving my order. Well worth the $140 that I should have never had to pay.

I had a pretty opposite experience from the other people who have reviewed this place. I called and scheduled an appointment and didnt rely on an online scheduler. Got in and was taken care of pretty quickly. They have a nice selection of designer glasses. The doctor was very helpful and explained questions that I had. When it came to selecting lenses and features they didnt oversell anything nor did they try to sell me things that I didnt need. They were all genuine, upfront and honest. I will say that the only downside is the waiting time for the glasses ~2 weeks. Which I feel is a bit longer than it should be, but they operate out of a 3rd party lab I believe so they dont necessarily have control over this process.

I called on a Tuesday with an emergency eye infection. The doctor was able to squeeze me in to her busy schedule for the same day, actually within the hr. I love her passion and dedication, she made me feel at ease and has been very proactive by checking my eye every day until the infection cleared up. The office is very clean and nicely setup. Staff is always friendly and greet you quickly upon entering. The place is always packed so make sure to call and schedule and appointment and arrive about 15 min early.

Used their online appointment scheduler to get some new glasses. Submitted the information and received a reply that I would be contacted to confirm my appointment. Week later and still no confirmation of my appointment. If this is how they operate their office with this simple task, they I will not be going there.

The Dr. here was very friendly and good with my 3 year old, who had never had an eye exam before. There are toys in the waiting room for kids to play with, and it has a nice atmosphere. The only drawback was the waiting, which seemed very long to me. But once we got in to the Dr., it was worth the wait.

Horrible customer service. Waited a month to get my glasses and they were still not ready. The employees dont give a damn about you. Dont waste your time. One small business I wont go out of my way to support. They have gunnar optiks but it isnt worth it.

This place is pretty good. I have been here twice & the staff is always friendly. Eye doc always makes corny jokes & asks about the Bucs (hence the four stars). Lol No, he is really good & nice.
