A couple weeks ago I dropped off some clothes and blankets - i was using a reusable shopping bag that I wanted to keep so I asked in a really friendly manner if it wasnt too much trouble to get it back. The employee scoffed at me and said "well were not THIEVES" and then handed me the bag. It just seemed unnecessarily hostile and rude and totally unjustified. Ive always been a big supporter of Goodwill and will continue to be, but I do think its important for the employees that are working there to learn how to deal with others in a professional and courteous way - especially if they hope to move forward into other roles in the workforce. I know that job training is a big component of the organizations mission, and is really important in helping some people get on their feet during difficult times. I have personal experience with benefiting from GW services and have seen what the organization did for people I care about. The employees inside the retail store were very friendly and helpful!

I enjoy shopping at Goodwill, what I find very up setting are the prices! They are ridicule high sometime higher than departments stores. Example: they priced "on the go Ultra sheer stockings"$4.99 you can purchase them for $1.79 at 7 eleven! a used Kate spade canvas bag $79! their shoes went from $6.99 to as high as $19.99. These are all donated items given FREE to Goodwill! Instead of helping people obtain items at affordable prices they make it impossible. Once a customer asked if they had a layaway because she was unable to purchase the item. Then once you check out they asked if you want to round up your change for educational purposes. Really how about rounding down your prices!

There arent a lot of thrift stores in DC, so just having this Goodwill around is great. The location is not very convenient, unfortunately. For being one of the only Goodwills in the area it also is not that big. But for all its downsides I do appreciate that it is around and I tend to be able to find clothing items whenever I come. The fact that there is a dressing room is a huge plus. They also have a decent furniture/household goods selection.

Came to do a fairly quick donation. Disappointed when intake workers were pretty careless and tipped over a whole crate of another donors books into a puddle. Folks just kind of stood around and watched as more and more books slid down this heap into the water. Also very reluctant to provide a receipt for donation. All that said, process was fairly quick compared to some other drop off centers.

I love the staff minus the Assistant Manager she lacks good customer services. I dont like shopping in there when shes there. All the employees are very knowledgeable when it comes to whats available. This store is always nice and presentable. VERY CLEAN even the bathrooms. Keep up the good work! April M. Krystal, Kia, Michelle, Natasha, Mr. Lewis, Ned, Brandon and all others.

The assistant General manager and the general manager makes goodwill look real bad..they have poor customer service they never out on the floor..they always getting good people fired!! turn all of the employees against each other!!I think Goodwill need to get rid of these two people so the customers can start back shopping at Goodwill!!!

My husband, son, and I found terrific items for his room - a desk, lamps, and kitchen items. Lorraine, the general manager, was wonderful. She and her staff were helpful, professional, and so willing to assist us. We wish more families would take the time and trouble to shop here to help both the organization and its fine employees.

Good place for a city that is getting extremely expensive to live in. The staff, from the maintenance crew who has done a great job at keeping the place functional and clean to the floor staff who is always helpful and attentive, the place is relaxing and of course affordable. Keep up the good work Goodwill at South Dakota Ave.

HOW EXACTLY DO YOU TURN DOWN DONATIONS AT GOODWILL?? I came in today to donate my and my daughters clothing and shoes and this guy denied my donations claiming he doesnt want to go home late. Im never offering anything to this place again. It just doesnt make sense and defeats the purpose of the store.

The general manager is never there and when the general manager is there, no where to be found, other team leader/ manager is no where to be found when you need them, and you gotta wait until someone come from the back to get some type of assistance #smh

This is the cleanest, most organized goodwill that I have EVER been to. Every time I come, I can find quality clothes for work or free time. Pair it with a trip to Costcos food court, and you have a perfect Saturday afternoon!

Every time I come here I am able to find at least a few items on my list at very reasonable prices. Not as big as some other thrift stores but quality merchandise at cheap prices, what more is there to ask for?

I can nearly always find a bargain here in clothing, household or books. The staff have upped their game over the past 6 months, being genererally friendlier and more helpful than last year. Hope it continues!

I did my back to school shopping on a half price day. "supeshh." Thats the sound of my mind being blown. The uniforms were $ 1.50 and some still had tags must have saved $70 bucks. Thanks nanna for the info

Complete rip off. Tried to buy a faux fur vest and was told it was $10 extra because its "fur". $15 for a well used item that was probably $20 new. Ill take my business elsewhere.

Everytime I drop items to donate, the staff is helpful, friendly, and efficient. Then I go to the store and ALWAYS leave with some great clothes or shoes.

Great diversity of merchandise. Special half price days many times per month, even on Weekends. Slow checkout, be prepared to wait for your bargains.

DCs preeminent Goodwill store. Its a bit out there, but since its still inside the beltway, I can give it a pass.
