I normally dont write reviews, but had to after my experience at this store. Went in on Friday, Feb 3, 2012 and was looking for Super Bowl themed paper plates, cups, napkins, etc. First employee I ran into stated that she worked in Toys and did not know where they may be, somewhere down by where the milk was. Didnt offer to take me there or help, just pass me off to another department. Next I went down to the food section and wandered around for a good 5 minutes. While I was down there, I saw two Walmart employees, one was a male department manager and the other was a female Assistant Manager. I made sure to walk up and down each aisle to try and find what I was looking for without their assistance. When I couldnt, I purposefully stood in the middle of the aisle, watching them talk about work and displays. I stood there, waiting for either one to ask me for help (I probably would still be standing there). The Assistant Manager walked RIGHT past me, made eye contact and all and DID NOT say a word to me. The department manager then did the SAME THING. A vendor (who was working on a display) noticed, HE asked if I needed help. A VENDOR who does not even work in the store! Needless to say, I told him that I just watched TWO managers walk right past a customer without "bothering" to help him. He proceeded to show me where the paper goods were for the Superbowl, and then proceeded to tell me he did not like coming into that store, he preferred a different Walmart. I dont like shopping in Walmart because the service SUCKS 95% of the time (and yes, I have been helped by other Walmart employees who were OUTSTANDING), but I would rather pay a little more for the customer service than suffer treatment at the hands of these obtuse employees who look at customers as interrupting their work, instead of being the REASON for their work. Shame on you Walmart...

I have been shopping at this Walmart for the last 5 years since moving to Wallingford. When I first started coming to this store I must say I wasnt impressed. Like everyone else the service wasnt very good because there were not that many people to help and the shelves did need re-stocking. But I must say that over the last 3 years I have seen quite a turn around and especially within the last year. Almost every employee I come across while shopping is very pleasant and more than accommodating, they all seem quite happy to assist customers and happy with their jobs. Almost always I find most everything on my list to be on the shelves each visit and often purchase way more than whats on the list. The store is merchandised very well and its always an fun experience coming into the store. I love their produce department and have found that the quality is superior to the other local grocery stores. Another area that I am especially pleased with is the Pharmacy. My family gets all their prescriptions here and the staff here really shows genuine concern for their customers. I think others tend to blast stores with poor ratings based on specific incidents and not tend to let emotions cloud their judgement. I wanted others to know my thoughts on this store and have the opportunity to hear my great experiences.

Reading the reviews below, its good to see that someone was happy with the overall cleanliness of this Walmart Supercenter. My friend works there as a maintenance person and takes pride in his job. Something which, for the lousy hourly wages of less than $10.00 per hour he is paid and factoring in how, some months, he chooses paying his mortgage and utilities over putting food upon his table; Walmart does NOT deserve! The other workers probably seem lazy because Walmart does not treat them well nor even pay them a living wage; that or they speak limited English and simply do not understand what customers ask them. Taking into account that the " Duke" of Walmart, Michael T. Duke earned $20.7 million in 2012 and has a retirement package of more than $113 million; one can truly understand WHY those workers getting $8.50-$10.00 hourly, seem as if theyre "lazy" and unwilling to work hard. Nobody can live on that salary in Carbondale, Illinois, never mind anywhere in Connecticut or Downstate New York. But what can Americans do, excluding for boycotting Walmart. Something which I find impossible on a Food Stamp budget. Duke should be ashamed of himself for paying those like my friend such a meager wage for their hard work!

Again no one cares over there half the crew and teams are always pissed off dont know why???? Including the management team it is like they all have a stick stuck up??? That Walmart (used to be past tense) the best place to go in and get the things you need but over the time every one is bitter and pissed why? Is that what we call service Walmart is the the number one company now to me Walmart is the number nothing. Everything starts with great service it has not happened at all, it starts with getting guest out it has not happened people wait in lines for hours not a smoke out of my butt , but it is true look at ur cameras. And it starts with humbleness that no one ever has anymore. There is a lot for me to say about it but,me writing all this will not make a difference but any ways wanted to let u know a little out of a few.

Biggest department store Ive ever seen. One stop shopping for sure because included is large grocery section. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because they did not have the product I wanted (rolling foldable milk carton with long handle or reasonable facsimile). Asked a Dept mgr standing talking to employees and was advised had nothing like it. So I started checking store myself looking for anything on wheels: garden Dept, automobile Dept, craft Dept and finally in the camping Dept I found a folding wagon which fit the bill perfectly. Im an older lady and now can move things around easy!!! As I rolled it to register I went by the same manager and said look what I found!!! My thought was, as I silently rolled by, was teach your employees to sell a substitute! That would have been 5 stars!

I bought a computer game disk here once and when I got home to install itit said the key was already used...Which means someone took it (likely into the bathroom where there are no cameras and opened it to write down the key, then went home and downloaded a virtual copy and just used my activation key). So that turned into a 45 minute call with the game company helpdesk and they couldnt do anything so I had to return the game and I was sure to grab one in a plastic casing this time. While I didnt grab one in plastic the first time around, this still wouldnt have happened if there were more watchful and mindful eyes of employees/security. Short Version: Dont buy computer games there unless they are enclosed in hard plastic shells!

I came here on a Sunday morning and it wasnt that crowded. I needed a case open from the jewelry department but there was no one there so I asked an employee that was stocking the shelves for assistance. She was very kind and explained that she did not have a key to the case and that she would call for assistance. So I waited and waited.. like 10 mins later, the employee comes back and asks if anyone ever showed up. I replied no and she called again. I waited for another 15 mins. No one showed up. Finally I saw a manager and as I was approaching him (we made eye contact) he headed in the opposite direction. He didnt even bother to stop to see if I needed assistance. Smh... Fed up, i just left the store.
