I moved to Pueblo recently. Ive been to the "Hanging Tree" several times already BUT today (6/5/17) at about 2:30pm I walked in and went to the restroom on the North side: no paper towels. Then I went to the round table (north side) and passed several un-bused tables. There was 1 guy making sandwiches and the rest were women with many standing around doing nothing. The restaurant did not appear busy at all with one person in line at the front counter. Today there is an article online on why young people are NOT applying for Summer jobs anymore. My answer for this is pure laziness. If youre drawing a paycheck BUT seem oblivious to work needing to be done...why are you working? I like the atmosphere here most of the time but were there call-ins on Monday or were the people on staff just giving this Monday a slow-start and WAITING for the young bearded man who works pms to clean up the place (for them)? After witnessing this scene I decided (after I got my table setup for book-reading) to leave and go to the "Solar Roast" on Main St where there was LESS staff on duty, clean tables, quick service, with great tasting "dark-roast" coffee---my favorite. IMO if more people would write reviews (like mine) maybe the owners of restaurants would counsel their staff and/or show them the door? Well its about the end of June and not much better here. Was here yesterday (6-25). Whoever owns this place needs to kick some serious A## here. Coffee (kona blend) was average. Worse when I came in the Mens restroom was filthy with an inop toilet (plugged up). I reported it to a sweet lady and she said: "Its the homeless." My reply: "Then lock it (as some places do) and tell the city to provide outdoor "porta-potties" as they do in Europe." 2hrs later the mens restroom (North side) was still filthy and unchanged. I had not eaten yet but remembered where I read in a book written by a chef: "Before you order any food in a restaurant...check out the restroom FIRST." "If filthy, keep walking." I did. BTW: the womens restroom was clean and operable. For food I walked to the "Starlight Diner" on Main. Checked out their restroom (first) and it would put the Hanging Tree to shame: clean and spotless! They had wonderful food also.

Ate here a few days ago. The staff were all very friendly. We ordered food and drinks. I got a Californian wrap and a large matcha green tea. My total was $19 and change, not including the tip. My wrap was decent and well-made, but nothing spectacular taste-wise. My green tea was delicious, but I was disappointed that the large wasnt very big at all. I thought it would be a lot taller of a cup for the large. I felt like what I paid for what I got was too much. The atmosphere was really nice and they have a lot of cool art on the walls, as well as many comfortable places to sit. We were there in between lunch and dinner and it was not very busy. One of the people we were eating with happened to get sick while we were there (medication related) and the staff were very accommodating in helping to get her some ice and a cold rag, which was very much appreciated. Overall, I will definitely go back again, I know this place has been a local favorite for a very long time, for a reason.

The food is soooooo good. We ordered the vegan green chile stew, a vegetarian portobello sandwich, and a vegetarian breakfast burrito smothered in green chile sauce. All items were a homerun. One of the girls delivered our food to the wrong table. After leaving it with the other people, she removed it from their table and brought it to our table. She might need better training, as that is improper. The atmosphere is probably considered cool to most, but not my style. Yet the food more than makes up for all of it! Mmmmmmmmm! Great menu and food! I noticed all ages were eating here. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. They have a huge wall of tea to choose from, so many great flavor options.

From the moment you walk in the door, the whole place gives off an eclectic, urban vibe; from the local art on the walls to the giant red hand-shaped statue people use for a chair when the place is full, everything is full of character. Though their main thing is coffee, they have the "Great Wall of Tea", made up of dozens of large glass jars filled with a myriad of blends. The food is done to perfection, even though its not their main function. Even the location is well chosen; theyre dead center in the liveliest block of downtown Pueblo. From decor to product, theres not a thing I could ask them to change. Hands down my favorite coffee shop/hangout of all time.

I understand that cafes are generally hectic so i cut some slack for ANY baristas having a bit of moody attitude but each time I visit here the service seems to be gradually getting even worse than that. The last time I visited on a Saturday night they were completely rude. Also it would be helpful if they printed ON THEIR MENUS or made a sign in plain sight with their operating hours for making/serving food instead of hatefully informing costumers who waited in line to order that, "Our kitchen is closed!" minutes after it supposedly was. But all of this is very unfortunate because I always enjoyed their food and coffee/tea beverages.

I tried to eat here, because i was parked nearby in my truck for the night. I guess they do not like working class guys, because they would not serve me. I was wearing my Carhartt work shirt so I did not fit in (assumption). When I went to the counter to order a sandwich, the girl told me to sit down and she would take my order. I sat down for 15 or 20 minutes, she never did. Message recieved, I left. Going by what I saw, if you are 18-22 years old, into tye dye, love weed, hate working, hate republicans, love herbal tea, love the 60s, love protesting, and needed therapy when Trump won... this is perfect for you. If not, dont bother.

Proposed to my wife here so the cafe has a very special place in our hearts. The staff is laid back and friendly, the music is always on par with the atmosphere and the food is filling and tasty. The prices are fair considering its a locally owned cafe, which is all the more worth supporting. We always go with the Popeye breakfast burrito, portebello mushrooms, spinach, bell peppers, vegan green chili, onions and swiss cheese. Yum! Highly recommend to locals if you have yet to try it out and anyone passing through its close to City Central exit on I-25. Definitely worth the visit!

Excellent atmosphere with friendly staff and quick service. Phenomenal tea selection. As far as food goes, Ive only ever had items from their lunch menu. People have told me that their breakfast is "microwaved" but Ive never had it. Theyve got wraps/sandwiches and soups that are very good and they usually have fresh fruit or baked goods also. This is a very chill spot and people tend to hang out, but its a friendly and relaxed place. Great place to study/read.
