The owner, a semi-retired attorney, is more than willing to talk about Leadvilles fabulous past and show related books to visitors. And he doesnt try to up-sell, either. In our case, he suggested a less expensive paperback about Leadville as being better written and a better value than some other books. If this had a fireplace or pot-bellied stove, you can see how it could be a handout during the 13 months a year of Leadvilles winter weather. Oh. Wait. The store owner is also the official National Weather Service observer for Leadville. He put an end to the tale told by other shopkeepers of snow thats 13 feet deep in the winter. Not so, he said. Its generally about 10 feet deep.

For such a small town, this book store has quite a lot to offer. The staff is cool. They have a nice variety of books about Leadville and Colorado, as well as classics and best sellers. Lots of magazines, calendars, stationary, and childrens books. Right on the main strip.
