Google won’t let me post this without rating Quality and Appeal. I can’t speak to those points, so I’ll assume they’re good. The service, though, has been pretty poor. About a month ago, I called Argonaut to find out if a case of beer was available for purchase for an upcoming ski trip. I was told that there was no problem and to call back in a week to get everything set up for payment and pickup. One week passed, and I called back. They no longer had any in stock, but would order some. They could let me know in a few days. A few days passed, and I received no call, so I called to find out if there were delays, if the order could be fulfilled, etc. At this point, the trip is just over a week away and I don’t know if I’ll be able to get what they told me a month ago was “no problem.” They’ve done nothing to help me find somewhere else to make a purchase. It seems they’re stringing me along in the hope that they’ll get my business, and unfortunately they will if they’re able to come up with my order. They seem to be the only game in town for certain things. And if they can’t fulfill my order, they’ve pretty much ruined one highly-anticipated part of the trip.

I have been to this store hundreds of times. Some of the best selections in one place. The problem is on my last checkout my partner (who was not purchasing or handling the alcohol) was asked for his ID. I told them I was purchasing and they said everyone needs to show there it. I told him we have been here hundreds of times and that has never happened. The manager then told me know one under 21 is allowed in he store and if anyone in your group is under 21 you can not purchase the alcohol. He went on to tell me if my partner is under 21 and they sell to me alcohol they can be closed down (note my partner is 34). I said if that is true why were the people in front of me with a child about 10 allowed into the store and furthermore allowed to purchase? He did not have an answer for this question. I then asked him why over a hundred times were we allowed to purchase? No answer. I truly felt this was discriminatory on there part. Allow some but not others to purchase. If your with kids they can buy but if your adults, clearly over 21 and the other person is Hispanic show your ID or leave. Discriminatory without question.

Every other major Big Box Liquor Store in the area will take any keg shells returned and refund for the deposit and put that toward purchases or refund. If i come back with two keg shells, and I only want one keg, I should be able to get the second deposit toward my purchase. Argonaut refuses to do that unless they can find a specific receipt with your keg deposit on it. Their comprtition does not. Worse, the representative and manager that informed us of the policy were both rude and dismissive. The amount of condescension we received from the clerk was just unbelievable. I understand that folks at the point of sale system and managers dont set these kinds of policies, but treating customers with disrespect when they express confusion about that is a great way to lose customers. We will be doing our shopping at one of the other local large-format liquor stores that have more flexible and customer-friendly policies... more so because we were treated with disrespect than because we dont like the policy.

After a Red Rocks show and following a late night show at Cervantes.. my 4 friends and I still awake and went home to have some eggs and pancakes breakfast. One thing was missing.. mimosas. So we went down to Argonaut to buy some Andre.. Jaclyn at the register might not have woken on the sunny side of the bed. She was awfully unpleasant and DENIED us some 2 bottle of Andre and 2 Colt 45s. Anddd wouldnt sell my friend cigarettes. Really?? WTF?! Jaclyns thought- we were "still under the influence." Girl please, we finished our beers at 4am. It was 8:30 when we rolled in. Do yourselves a favor: screw Jaclyn and Argonaut (though it still is a great selection of beers & spirits) AND GO TO SCOOTER LIQUORS up on Colfax. Dude is nicer and we were served. WTF Argonaut, hire some friendly morning women register folks. Ha.. we had our mimosas and they were great.. have a great rest of the day!

This place has a huge variety of stuff. However, Ive noticed that the bearded guy who runs the front end is a real strictly towards black and latino people. As if his main goal is to hurry them out of the door so that the white shoppers feel safe. The location is convenient for me but Ive never experienced friendly service. The employees sort of point me in the direction that i need, never assisting, but will take white shoppers on tours and introduce them to things like the chilling barrel. I like to explore new options, try new things, look around a little, but that only gets an employee to shadow me as if im going to steal. I hate having to contribute to the establishment but they have such a huge variety that I cant help myself. I guess id feel better about shopping at the place if they were less bias towards different people of different ethnicity.

I had a terrible experience at Argonaut. 2 cashiers treated me horribly: The first carried on an absurdly long conversation with the drunken customer in front of me while he rang him up. People in other lines moved through quickly. When I went to another line and tried to voice some constructive criticism to the cashier she at first laughed and said that everybody knew the other cashier was a problem and then treated me like my complaint was a nuisance. She went on to commiserate about me with the customers behind me while I WAS STILL THERE which led to the customer following me out into the parking lot screaming insults at me. What an ordeal! I can’t believe the horrible service and escalation of a simple piece of feedback into an all out disaster.

Always liked Argonaut - good selection, good service, nice people, convenient (even before the new building!). Recently went in to setup an order for our wedding reception, Sarah was nice, we had a good conversation, she promptly emailed a quote. No response since that first email (even got an autoreply that her mailbox was full??? Really, in 2014 you have a full mailbox?). What service exactly is a vendor providing for me if I have to micro-manage them? Ive already wasted more time dealing with them than simply buying the alcohol and transporting it MYSELF would take. Screw you Argonaut - I live only a handful of blocks away, but Im DONE shopping there, and I will never recommend them for any corporate event.

Was here with my girlfriend just now. The cashier asked me if I was good as I yawned while I was walking towards the cash register. I said of course.and I asked him the reason he asked and he then responded that they dont sell alcohol to people who are drunk or intoxicated. And again asked me if was good. I tried to laugh it off but it was completely out of line. I dont drink. Im not intoxicated. When I said that I didnt drink he didnt respond with any sort of apology just rang my girlfriends order up and ignored me when I said that I was upset. I will never bring my business here ever again.
