If you check the other reviews Ive left both here on Google as well as on Yelp youll notice I am almost entirely positive. Normally if I cant leave a good review I dont leave one at all, but the pure laziness of the staff at this place is absolutely infuriating and their horrible customer service deserves a bad review. I gave a ride to a young patient who, because she was once in the Foster Care system, is on Medi-Cal/State Benefits. Unfortunately, the state is often frustrating to deal with: be it an appointment with a medical doctor or dentist, the initial feedback when checking for her eligibility on the computer is that she is not currently active. Ive been with her at half a dozen appointments and this issue arises every time. The solution is for the reception staff to make a phone call to the state office- a number provided right on the benefits card for just such an occasion-and speak directly with an agent. I told this to the receptionist and she refused to make the call, stating that these days the computer tells them all they need to know and there is no need to call ("We just dont do that"). From experiences with other medical appointments, we know better. For some reason there is a glitch with this persons account that is ALWAYS cleared up with a phone call. Sure, its a pain in the butt to have to talk to a live person instead of typing into the computer, but sometimes its necessary. The patient called the number herself from her cell phone. As expected, her eligibility was verified. She took her phone to the receptionist, who was informed that she was indeed eligible and that a letter stating that fact would be faxed by the end of the business day. At the dentist or medical offices, this is always enough. Not here! They told this patient that she will have to be rescheduled because they wont see her until the fax actually arrives. It is my opinion that this decision was made, in large part, due to hurt ego: theyd refused to make the call themselves and insisted that "the computer says you are not eligible and thats what we go by now," which was disproven by a simple phone call made by the patient-a call they should have been willing to make themselves. This patient moves out of state in a week, and made that fact known. She is on an extreme time crunch and her benefits expire soon. Verbal authorization from the state - with the promise by the states representative to fax an eligibility letter - has always been enough at other medical offices and should have been sufficient in this case as well. This was a case of very, very poor customer service. EDIT TO ADDRESS "GINA SMITHS" REVIEW: If Gina is a real customer, Id be surprised. Gina, this isnt a case in which the computer showed this patient as "eligible." By the way, less than 5 minutes ago, the Doctors office called and said they would have their billing agent call in to verify eligibility. That is EXACTLY what I asked them to do while I was in the office with this patient. It is ALSO what they told me they dont do (see my "We just dont do that" quote above). I was annoyed when the receptionist said, "We just dont do that" because at every other appointment that Ive attended with this particular person, in which the same problem has been encountered, they "just do that" and everything works out perfectly. Its sad that it took a bad review on Google and Yelp to get this office to do their job as it should have been done when the patient was sitting in the lobby at her scheduled appointment time (10 minutes early, in fact).

Ive been going here as long as I can remember and now take my own kids. Office is very friendly, personable and goes out of their way to accommodate any need you might have. Drs. Taxera and Tollman are both excellent in their ability to diagnose and address conditions of eye health, additionally the office is up to date on the latest equipment and technology used in the optometry field. About five years ago, Dr. Taxera quickly referred my then 12 yr old daughter to a retinal specialist as significant inflammation was present deep in the eyes. Although it was the weekend, he got us an appointment with the specialist for the very next day, Saturday. I appreciate doctors who take a personal interest to ensure the best care is given to their patients and are willing to seek outside medical resources available to address issues beyond their expertise. Although our daughter is now regularly seen and monitored by specialists, Dr Taxera continues to follow her condition and has seen her at a moments notice in times of concern to determine whether or not an unscheduled follow up appt with the specialist was required. The OptiMap imagery available in their office is very uncommon for an optometrist to have onsite. In fact, UCSF Opthamology department raved about this new equipment theyd recently obtained to take photos of my daughters eye condition. Upon entering the room we realized it was an OptiMap machine and stated that shed had that type of imagery done at our general optometry office. It was that very machine used in Dr Taxeras office that took the original photos showing inflammation at the onset of my daughters eye condition. The specialist was surprised and said is was extremely unusual to find that type of equipment in a general practice, especially since their opthamology department had been waiting for some time to acquire one themselves. Very impressive to know Drs Taxera and Tollman invest in technology that helps them give the best care and diagnosis to their patients. I wouldnt go anywhere else!

My wife and I have used Three Rivers for years. We now live in Roseville and didnt want to make the trip to Yuba City for our last glasses purchase. BIG MISTAKE! We tried a large chain that was conveniently located near us (the one where the lenses scream in Ninja before they separate in two) and their "premium lenses" were severely scratched up in less than 6 months. Shocking because my glasses are always either on my face or on my nightstand and typically last for years. The big stores lure you in with their discount pricing but immediately begin to upgrade you. Turns out you end up paying nearly as much for your glasses as you would at a premium store like Three Rivers but the quality of the product is no bargain. This time we made the drive to Yuba City and after almost 2 years my lenses are still scratch free and the frames are flawless. Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable too!
