Ive been coming here since I moved to Walnut Creek in 2010. Lately it has been steadily declining. Lines are always long and cashiers are slow. Today, thankfully, there were almost no lines and several cashiers were open...but the first one I went to wasnt standing by her register, instead she was off doing something else so I went to the next one over. Someone else got in the previous line and I heard the cashier make some smartass comment about how people must love waiting in line. I glanced over to get her name so I could have a chat with the manager...she *was* the manager. Congratulations, youve lost my business! I recommend the Safeway in Lafayette or the one on Contra Costa Blvd in Pleasant Hill. The staff is much more efficient and friendly.

The location is convenient to me and I gave it an extra star for being open 24 hours. The selection is above average, but I cant get over how high the prices are for many items. Because of that, I tend to get things like dairy, eggs, and meat elsewhere unless there are exceptional sales on them. I recommend checking out the weekly ads and a less-frequent periodical coupon pack for the best deals. I tend to save shopping for Fridays since they have good $5 Friday sales. The produce doesnt impress me, but Ive been a bit spoiled by going to a lot of farmers markets and by previously living in a town where a supermarket near me had less expensive and better quality produce.

If youre looking for the Safeway sale items, you can find some good prices, otherwise, this store is priced higher than any other store within driving distance. Their "Organic" produce is priced higher than Whole Foods and has poorer selection for comparable items. Trader Joes is much cheaper and has healthier selections of most "Trader Joes" type Items. Overall, I always feel like I paid too much when I shop here. Even CVS has better pricing on most items - especially alcohol! lol Beware the awesomely priced loss leaders designed to draw you in and make you pay WAYY too much for everything else!

This store is the nearest and so my go to place, I love the Deli, the fresh produce, the seafood counter and the dairy,the freezer section, and the Asian aisle. The Starbucks always has a line and even on weekdays there are queues of 3 or 4 , but I hardly notice it now since for me distance trumps finding a emptier version of the store, of course improvement will help as it wouldnt harm to have better customer service ☝

Once the other WC Safeway is finished, I sincerely hope this one gets completely redone next. Its the smallest Safeway Ive ever been in, yet right next to a very busy area of Walnut Creek. Youd think theyd have figured a way to manage long lines by now but no, just no. WC is putting all this money into Broadway Plaza, the least they could do is have Safeway spruce up to be more with the times too

I work at safeway and i have a hard time with my boss because i need a restroom break before my 10 minute break I. Cant wait until my 10 minute break because I am not. Going to have a accident if i do not. Male it to the restroom. In time and if i did have a accident it is on my boss not me he does not care about my health or well being i work hard at safeway since 2007 i deserve a restroom break

Like Safeway. At this point I can find almost all if not all ... This is a huge supermarket with food, pastries and deli, machine with ice, flowers, a large parking lot, a pharmacy, disposable cutlery and appliances for baking, personal care products and household goods and other. Minus: But the prices here are a little overpriced. Plus: They have a delivery of all products.

Could this store have any fewer checkers? I come here often around 8pm and the lines are insane and few stands are open. The staff, too, are slow and dont engagepr acknowledge the people who are waiting for 25 minutes in line. Its absolutely insane and shows disrespect for customers. Im moving to Whole Foods down the road - costs as much but way better service

If i could give 0 stars I would! This is the only Safeway I know of that consistently has ABSURDLY long lines. Not to mention they dont carry as wide of a selection as other neighboring safeways and their checkers take their sweet time doing their job. I like being able to walk to this one but Im willing to make the drive to avoid this store from now on.

Very busy and intimate location of the popular West Coast grocery brand. Prices are what you expect for Safeway, checkout lanes can be a few people deep but never ridiculously long wait times. Store is well maintained and staff, while sometimes over worked for average pay, are only as nice and the customers they serve.

Im done with this store. It is always too crowded. The staff is super friendly and helpful except when it comes to getting you out of the store. There is no such thing as popping in for a quick purchase here. Even a single item purchase in the express lane takes no fewer than 10 minutes waiting in line most days.

Having been a manager at a different safeway, Id pretty safely say this is one of the worst stores youre going to find. Its clean, thats the only upside. Poor selection, understaffed, CROWDED, and I have not once been here without a huge line. Save your time and frustration, drive to literally anywhere else.

The cashiers and baggers can be very slow. The girl at the counter was so quiet and I had to ask her to repeat herself several times. She also seemed to ignore me when I told her I needed an extra bag. The bagger did a C- job. One bag so heavy I had to carry it from the bottom and the other so light...

We live down the street from this Safeway and hate going here. Its always crowded, the selection of food is minimal, and there is always a long line to check out....even during off hours. Not sure why they are always understaffed. Its usually quicker for us to go to the one on Bancroft than go here.

Unprofessional employees. I visited the deli and ordered a large sandwich. The sandwich was good. I was not in a hurry, but was told to hold my horses. Um Okay. Even another employee was rude in her tone of voice to the customer behind me. Jordan rang up my sandwich and was very polite.

Prepare to wait. Every time I shop here there are mutuple lines of customers waiting to-check out. Most of the time the lines are longer than 4 cuatomers deep. I will go to either the deil, barkery, starbucks and order something extra just so they will check out my real purchases.

Yesterday I called for a last minute order of a 1/2 sheet cake and experienced great customer service. The guy was very friendly and I loved how they decorated my cake. It tasted delicious just what I expected it to be. I Would definitely recommend ordering more cakes here:)
