One of the staff members was quite rude and pushy when I was in line to purchase 3 items, she constantly made remarks and gave attitude. I didnt catch her name but Im guessing because I look younger, she didnt take my business seriously or maybe it was because of the person before me that had made a bigger purchase of about $100 that she didnt think my business was welcome, even though her check comes from the buyers she wasnt too happy about mine. She was the worst person Ive encountered by far I will be coming back to get her name and post another review on how that day goes, however another staff member opened another cashier thank fully and was much more pleasantly kind, she greeted me well and thanked me for my business, her name is Karine and its because of staff like her that make me happy to shop at thrift stores. Goodwill: hire more people like them, there are many people seeking jobs and if your staff doesnt like their jobs well maybe they should seek a position at a place where they are doing something theyre passionate about, because it isnt very hard to smile and be kind to others, I do it everyday without getting paid, now if someone is paying me to provide good service even better Id be happy to be there rather than being unwelcoming and unapproachable like the staff member I encountered today. Maybe it was even race related perhaps because I am a Mexican American born in the U.S she feels that a Caucasian women deserves better treatment.. hmm who knows, there may be a lot of factors to this, however I was in a rush which is why I didnt speak to the manager but dont worry its not my last time visiting, you will know the name Nancy Reyes by the time Im back. Hopefully then the service is better!

This review is two-fold: one for the selection and staff and another for the ridiculous pricing at this Goodwill. Let me start by saying I have been a frequent donor and do so because I believe in recycling, building community, and appreciate the Goodwills original mission "to provide a chance, not charity," to people society had labeled as unemployable, while making second-hand goods available to those who may not be able to afford buying everything new. Thanks to the generous donors of Santa Monica, this location has a particularly decent selection. The store is regularly organized and, from what Ive seen, staff are friendly and respectful to all customers, whether deal-hunting or homeless. For selection, general cleanliness and courtesy, this Goodwill gets good marks. Then there are the prices... Ill be honest, I like a bargain, but $3 for a well-loved childrens book I could find new for $4? $80 for used, outdated True Religion jeans? $100 for a no-name used bottle of perfume?! Even the clothing prices have gone up from the typical $5.99/piece to $19.99 and up; I find better deals shopping the sale rack at retail stores. One of the pictures from a Yelp reviewer was for a kids bike priced at $299!! Goodwill is supposed to be a non-profit organization. Goodwill should be ashamed of their prices, especially considering the high homeless population in our community who frequent this store! The way this store exploits its generous donations is embarrassing. From now on, Im encouraging my friends and neighbors to donate to Deseret Industries or Salvation Army.

What is going on with the pricing at the Santa Monica store?? The only good deals are on the overly used, shrunken clothes on the bulk racks. The so-called premium clothing, name brands in good condition, that they bring out regularly on small racks is priced the same as the clearance racks at TJ Maxx! The point of used clothing is great deals! Look, we all know that Goodwill pays ZERO for the items, qualifies as a non-profit solely because they employ the under-employed, which really means they pay minimum wage and in the case of the disabled they often pay below minimum wage, which is legal, but cmon guys... Goodwill has come under fire for these things combined with higher than average executive salaries for non-profits. I hope somebody reads these reviews and checks in with the people who are doing the pricing.

The signs for Mens suits: $20 special color tag, $25 all other colors or if not priced. I found a suit that shouldve been $25 but the lady said its a boutique item so she had to ask someone in back how much it was. It ended up being $35, which is pretty good for the quality, but at the same time its 40% more than whats advertised. Please make sure the suits are marked with a price if theyre supposed to. And please put another sign up saying "Oh, & if we forget to mark a boutique item, the price may be a lot more." Cheap Man out.

It has interesting stuff. You wont waste your time. The only thing is that the prices are much higher than other goodwills. For example, I found Frye boots for $100 !!!! Thats the price in Notdstrom Rack. Ha ha !! Are they serious? This crap is used ! I guess this is the policy of the new management..

This place seemed clean and well organized, but there was very little stock. I was looking for baby clothes and there was literally nothing...just one tiny rack for kids clothes...tiny. Also very little housewares and misc items. Pretty much just clothes for men and women. Disappointed.

I get so many cool things here, the staff is almost always helpful and courteous. There are some seriously crazy folks walking in and out the place all day and I have seen some serious patience exhibited by volunteers more than once....

all goodwill stores are under pressure to raise prices it does not help when people call or go back and brag about reselling items they bought there for hundreds or thousands of dollars profit.

Great for browsing around looking for bargains... I got a leather carry-all for $25 in mint condition. Amazing and eclectic shoe collection worth rummaging through. Lovely, chatty and happy staff.

This place is ok. They mostly carry lame t-shirts and crappy shoes. One time, this homeless man was begging everyone in the store to get him jeans. No one bought it for him. True story.

Good place for deals in downtown Santa Monica! SM Goodwill features a large selection and "boutique" section! (Whatever that means)

Shopping at the Goodwill is entirely hit or miss... Usually a giant miss. The location is a hit, but the selection here is a miss.

Smaller sized goodwill but right in downtown. Can usually find something close to what youre looking for in a cinch.
