Without a doubt, this is one of the finest stores in the Bay Area for personalized service, professional fit and outstanding selection of running shoes. Both of the owners helped my wife and I select the best shoes for our personal running style and fitness objectives. I am recovering from serious Achilles tendon repair and the carefully considered recommendation from the owners has me running now pain free for the first time ever. If I had had their advice on shoe selection (they pay careful attention your running style, weight, and body mechanics) before my injury, I very likely would not have had the serious injury that I sustained. My wife is delighted with her shoes, I am happy and I am bringing my High School kids who run track and cross country back to be fit after the holidays. These gentlemen are the best in the business.

Ive been a customer of the store for at least 15 years and I cant imagine a better place to buy sports shoes and accessories. The owner and his son are VERY knowledgeable about shoes and they give every customer their own personal attention and advice. Im getting older and just a few days ago I went to look for a new pair of shoes and told the owner that I didnt run as much as I used to because I was experiencing some knee pain. He had me run outside while he watched and aftward he immediately said "heres a shoe that will let you run without pain". Ive now warn them for 3 runs and he was absolutely right.

Amazing service from knowledgeable people I needed some sports shoes for a new sport, something that provides good, solid support for high arches. Ive never had such direct, confident, and knowledgeable service from any shoes sales person before I visited Ryans. The salesman determined the right size, width, and fit in a matter of seconds. Truly apparent that the man knows his business. I got a pair of sports shoes and birkenstocks and Im quite happy with them. I will definitely return to this store again. Well worth the visit and the price. I am grateful that Ryans is local

One of the best shoe shopping experiences Ive had in a very long time. Steven and Gary know their business (shoes!). He pulled the right size with me even asking. They had me try on several pairs. Even asked me to go outside and run down the street and back. They were concerned with finding the right shoe for my foot, not looking for an upsale. It was my first time there, and I will buy my next pair of shoes from them. Also, they mentioned that if I find its not right, to bring them back and they will help me find the right fit.

Steve was ok but Jerry was really rude and didnt even know how to talk to customer. You will be better off with Road Runner Sports at San Carlos, staff is very courteous, huge collection 3 - 4 times bigger store than Ryans sport. The best thing is, you can buy from Road Runner website and if that doesnt fit, you can exchange or return at their retail store. People are really nice and they die for customers, I guess thats the reason where they are today after 25 years and starting from one garage in San Diego.

I always leave with confidence that I have the right shoe for me, for my style, and budget. They have me lace up a pair and run a little bit to try on the shoes. I think their prices are good. The couple of times I have comparison-shopped, I found a mall shop that priced the shoes higher than at Ryans! This was a few years ago; "your mileage may vary". But I stopped price-shopping because Ryans gives such personal service. Also, Gary was a top-notch marathoner, so I know Im getting good advice at Ryans.

This is a great shop. Ive been buying Brooks and other shoes here for years...like 15 years. Even though I only buy 1 pair per year, they always remember me and treat me like and old friend. I can only imagine how customers that visit more often are treated. Hey, they will let you go out and run with the shoes before buying...do that do that at the big stores? If you are a runner, or just a fat guy with foot problems (I cant spell plantar-f word), these guys will hook you up proper...and no BS prices.

I cant remember the older gentlemans name... but he is EXTREMELY knowledgeable and knows how to get you back on the road after injuries. Ive been running too many years to count, and this is the first shoe place Ive been to where they actually understand that narrow feet need a special shoe! If youre a serious runner and want the right shoe for your foot, go to Ryans. Theyre not going to put you in a shoe that doesnt fit your foot (even if you try and convince them otherwise).

Extreme aggressive marketing, didnt even give us a chance to gather our thoughts and think, worst than car buying or a dentists office visit. They tend to criticize your existing shoe brands (Inov-8 - in my case) if they dont carry that specific brand, I mean I love my existing shoe ...what the heck !!! When my friend Sagar asked him about their exchange policy and pricing, they got offended and asked us to leave the store. I would recommend Zombierunner in Palo Alto.

Skilled and patient help. A well known local track coach in San Jose has been sending his team over to this shop for years. He can account on the staff to give his team members the proper fitting for maximum performance. Store staff asked me what kind of activity I needed a shoe for, selected several shoes, and watched me walk in each one looking for the correct foot angle and stride. The shoe was perfect! I will keep going back.

I have been going to Ryans for the past 10 years at least and never have I once wanted to go somewhere else. While the price of the shoes may not be the cheapest around, Im sure I could get cheaper online, the knowledge they provide you when helping you pick out a shoe should be rewarded. I urge anyone, whether you know what kind of shoe you want or not to go there and let them help you find a shoe that is perfect for you.

Where else can you put on a pair of shoes, and go for a jog around the block with them on? NOWHERE... I wanted a brand of shoe other than what t.v shoves in your face all the time such as Nike, Adidas etc. These guys know what they are talking about. I have relinquished my interest in running with an extremely comfortable shoe.

I had a commute with 4 miles of walking a day in it. My old shoes were making miles 3 and 4 painful after a month on the job. Came in one morning, explained my trouble with my current shoes, tried on 4 pairs while they explained what was good about each, walked out with a pair I wore for 500+ miles with no pain at all. Thanks!

Ryan is a nice guy. Helped me pick out appropriate shoes quickly, told me and my wire a few great stories, and gave me some advice on my shoes. Its a running shoe store ran by runners.
