Ive visited this wine store/wine bar combo a few times to peruse the fairly good selection of wines by the bottle for purchase and twice Ive sampled food/wine onsite. The same owner who runs this combination store also runs the exclusively wine bar with almost identical menu (visited once) in the middle of Santana Row with the patio. I should note that the high marks for service are for the actual store location as Id put the wine bar in the middle of Santana Row much lower as each time Ive been in there (and only stayed once), there was a much haughtier air and less interest in paying attention to customers for some reason while the store staff were friendly and warm, helpful in selection, and made great recommendations, plus they were happy to accommodate a modest request on substituting an item since Im a vegetarian. Vintage Wine Merchant tends to carry wines for sampling that are on the more mid to higher end of the scale ($10-20 per glass) and each time I went I selected a different glass, both of which were good (they also do flights). One occasion, I had a trio of bruschetta while another day, it was the cheese plate which came with a selection of three cheeses, amazingly good marinated tomatoes and green olives. Seating is at tables scattered in the front of the store or at a marble smaller wine bar section. A nice splurge if you are shopping or at the movies on the Row or before a meal at one of the other restaurants. I should also mention that they run a monthly wine club if folks are interested.

Lets start off by clearing any confusion, Vintage Wine have two locations, the wine bar in the middle of Santana Row and the merchant store across from the movie theater. The wine bar itself is small, however, they offer outdoor seatings, so there are plenty of seats to enjoy your wine. My go to location is the merchant store as Amanda Bear works there. She is an amazing host and kept the entire shop entertained with different selection of wine, as well as her sense of humor. Because of her, I may consider becoming a wine member even though I dont drink often, they can make for great gifts.

This is a nice wine bar with a retail store to relax and enjoy the two-for-one flight/glass during Happy Hour before catching a movie at CineArts across the street. They offer a good selection of flights. The service can be a hit or miss experience depending upon the night. Their small plates selection is limited and could be improved by expanding beyond cheese and meats to include Caprese salads and various flatbreads.

Updating my previous review, the rude waitress is gone. New staff is awesome. Wines were OK. We have been here twice. First time the waitress was extremely rude. I thought we never come back here, but a friend really wanted to go and we tried it again. It was better service but still I remember the first bad experience

This is a great place to start the evening. The flights are great and ever changing. The outdoor seating is well heated in cooler weather and its absolutely int he middle of all the action. Great for people watching and quiet enough that you can have price conversation. The staff are great

Great place to explore new wines. The staff are quite knowledgeable and can point you to some real gems. They have a nice seating area. Its great to sit and share a bottle of wine with friends knowing that you paid retail price and not the restaurant/wine bar mark up!
