This is a very interesting experiment: $5 ice cream bars with unlimited toppings. I ordered a taro and a Thai tea, both with a ton of different kinds of toppings, ranging from chocolate/condensed milk drizzles to all kinds of crushed treats and nuts. The size is pretty average, but what steals the show is the presentation. The choice to have it served in a basket and topped with a pile of things makes it look ultra decadent, and at that point you havent even tasted it yet; your taste buds are predicting the kind of sugar sensations youll be witnessing. Youll have to let this thaw for a good 2-3 minutes first for two reasons: 1) its probably a little too solid coming straight out of the freezer display for most people to enjoy right off the bat 2) youll want that chocolate drizzle to condense and hold all those toppings together. I highly suggest doing a 2-3 layer drizzle, which means layering chocolate drizzles over items like nuts and waffle cone bits, this ensuring that it all stays in one place. The verdict is this: yes its $5, yes, its not a huge drumstick, but yes its fantastically indulgent and an enviable sight to see. Theres some sort of chain reaction where people see someone eating one and immediately want to try it out just because it looks so fun to eat. Its in an up and coming area of downtown San Jose, which is great for its avant garde style of desert making. I predict theyll make hot dessert and shake versions of this for the next rolling fall/winter

After having a filling meal we fortunately had enough room for a small dessert. I have to admit I am a little biased towards ice cream as it is my favorite sweet treat. But that doesnt mean I dont appreciate the differences between a refreshing artisan frozen cream treat, and a sub-par dairy dessert. The young lady helping us was friendly and quick. And there was another gentleman there that was glad to answer the questions I always seem to come up with. The process to order your ice cream was a simple three step method. Pick your cream, pick your sauce, and then pick your treats to top it off. The texture of the ice cream was beyond perfect and worked perfectly on the wooden stick. The wet topping got stiff after contact with the cold ice cream like magic sauce we all love so much. I completely enjoyed my dessert at a large table in the center of the quiet yet lively market. Me and my two sisters enjoyed the entire experience from start to finish. The quality of the treat distracted me from the understandable price of about $5 a stick. I will be returning!

Milk & Wood is a fun ice cream bar experience. You can choose a flavor (they have rotating seasonal flavors too) then add any toppings you wish from milk, dark, and white chocolate, to waffle cone bits, nuts, chocolate shavings, etc. No matter how many toppings you ask for, youre only charged the one price for toppings, so go at it. The full price is just $5. I like that they use paper boats here so that you can catch your toppings when they fall off as you bite into the bar. Popbar doesnt give you anything to catch your toppings, which makes it messier to eat. I liked the strawberry yogurt pop and green tea kit kat (theres an actual piece of kit kat in the middle :) Coming here is fun because they have a bar and other restaurants inside SoFa Market too, so you can eat a full meal in one place. Parking: street/metered.

If I had only 3 words to describe Milk and Wood it would be this: a delicious mess. Milk and Wood seems to be following suit on the Chipotle-style customization trend that weve been seeing a lot of lately. For $5, you pick your base, sauce, and (unlimited) toppings. Or alternately, you can skip the toppings altogether and get a plain popsicle for $4. They have plenty of unique popsicle flavors (Thai tea, durian, green tea kit kat, salted caramel, etc.), about 3 sauces (white/dark chocolate, condensed milk), and a good variety of toppings as well including my favorite, Fruity Pebbles! It wasnt bad for a quick dessert but it did get pretty messy what with the chocolate drizzle all over the place and the popsicle breaking into pieces. IMO, it is pretty pricey but is worth trying at least once.

If you’ve ever been to PopBar in SoCal, this would be the NorCal equivalent. It’s pretty much ice cream on a stick and you can add drizzles and toppings to it as well. I got the cookies and cream bar, topped it with milk chocolate and white chocolate drizzle and then added some oreo cookie crumbs and nuts. It was pretty good and not too sweet. The ice cream didn’t melt super fast as I’m not a fan of soft ice cream. My only real complaint would be the price of this. Almost $5 for ice cream on a stick?? I like the whole concept of the it and how you can choose what you want to top it off with, but the price is a little ridiculous. Overall, it was good, but pricey.

Milk & Wood is one of my favorite places to satisfy my sweet tooth. For four dollars you can get a flavored ice cream bar and load it up with tons of toppings. I think this might be my favorite place in the SOFA district. Additionally, you arent numbered with the flavors of ice cream you get. You can get anything from taro to nutella, and anything in between. There are some ice creams that come equipped with candy already in it. Milk & Wood is located inside SOFA Market to the left. You can usually easily find seating inside in the back near the bar or outside in the front.

Four bucks for the ice cream on a stick and a chocolate drizzle of your choice (milk, dark, white). For 5 you get unlimited toppings. Wish the server had old me the toppings were unlimited as I missed the sign. Heck,it would be great if the encouraged or presented newcomers with pairings like Cold Stone. The service and ice cream are quality up there with Breyers. Good, convenient, and not overly gluttonous:-) ....great music played at the venue.....calm, chill, relaxing atmospheric neo soul

Milk & Wood - providing creamgasms to all!! Nestled in San Joses up & coming, SoFa Market, Milk & Wood stands out from most South Bay dessert shops. The shop is independently owned and the recipes were created IN HOUSE. With flavors like cookies & cream, Thai tea, & green tea kit Kat, you cant go wrong! Ladies, come get your D fix with the cutest ice cream man in town!! C.R.E.A.M. who?

I really enjoyed the food! The ice cream bar are a bit pricey: $4 plain, $5 with toppings. The toppings are unlimited. It was my first time going today, and I got a Thai Tea ice cream bar with chocolate wafers, chocolate curls and drizzle. The other ice cream flavors were green tea kit Kat, pistachio, chocolate, cookies and cream. They have different flavors each time.

Very tasty ice cream. Green tea was mild but complemented the white chocolate toping well, enjoyed the kitkat chunks. The Thai tea was really good and strongly flavoured. The crisp texture of the ice cream set it apart from all other creams. Would eat at again. No parking, takes a 2 person team to enjoy it!

This place is great, in the SoFa market. Lots of interesting flavors and plenty of crazy toppings too! The only downside -- there are no tasters. With some of the weird flavors youre intrigued but spending $ on something I might not like keeps me from trying anything too adventurous.
