People are very nice here -- unfortunately the new Manor House is a jumble of a bizarre menu and yard sale decorations. It would have been very wise to have ascertained what items from the old menu were fan favorites and bring them back - TO BRING BACK THE OLD CLIENTELE! New menu items only work for locals when they are well-prepared - and among the dishes we ordered none were good or special enough to merit returning. Pricing is also a problem - they are not well-aligned with the other competition in the quantity, quality or pricing. Toast is a hit in the post-Village Grill spot -- Raintree occupies the funky straight ahead diner role, and when Lemonade opens up this fall, it will be a major draw and give everyone a run for their money. Manor Houses problems can all be fixed -- but quickly! Lose all the mixed bag decorations - especially that ghastly red plume in a vase - and bring in select images of Old San Francisco, West Portal -- not New York, not faded old prints of food and certainly not a poster for some arcane beer nobody has ever heard of! A boars head mounted on the wall? WHY? Ceiling club blue lighting from Studio 54 era? REPLACE!! Most importantly, decide on your identity - are you a basic diner or a progressive diner -- if youre the former, certainly serve the foil wrapped butter and runny strawberry jam -- if youre the latter, serve locally sourced ingredients and tell us about it! But DECIDE and be consistent and focused on the best delivery. SF and West Portal has so many restaurant choices - places at which youd cross town to eat. Manor House needs to work to become this kind of place, because right now I wouldnt recommend it to anyone in the neighborhood - and that makes me kinda sad.

Stick to the breakfast food or lunch sandwiches. I was craving some chicken fried steak so I decided to give it a try, even though other customers breakfast and lunch plates looked pretty good. My husband ordered the cinnamon apple waffle, which was pretty delicious, but thinner than we like our waffles. The country fried steak and everything that came with it was just flat out terrible. The "steak" was a poorly breaded deep fried hamburger patty. It had no flavor at all other than beef flavor, and it was a hamburger patty (NOT chopped steak). Mashed potatoes tasted old/out of a box. Steamed veggies tasted sour and spoiled. The service was okay, but a little annoying. Perhaps it was our specific waitress, she would walk away before you are even done telling her your order, she would yell, talk way too fast, and was just frantic! I can understand being stressed during a rush, but I think she was stressing out her customers. Ill try the place again, but sticking to breakfast food.

This review is based on several visits over a couple of months. Great service and great 1950s ambiance. They go all out over the holidays to transform the diner into something over the top special. The Manor could be so much more. Unfortunately, the breakfast I have had are far below average for even diner food. Burnt eggs, dry waffles, bacon that tasted old and like it should have been thrown away. Even the pancake syrup had the consistency of honey and was without flavor. Im also not sure if what they are serving as coffee is acutely coffee. Its bad. The last time I dined there I simply couldnt eat this food and left without finishing. Look I get it. Everyone has bad days, sometimes employees dont show up or the cook gets sick and a temp cook fills in that is why I never base a review on a single visit. I really hope they get their food act together. They have so much going for them and should have folks standing in line. Hire someone who knows how to cook basic diner cuisine.

Its clean food comes out quickly. And services seemed ok . I wouldnt expect anything less or more. Im actually reviewing the bad reviews. First out all anyone whom spews out the negative. Should go do a customer service job wait a table. Start a small sole proprietor business. Pay some wages. Hire some people promise 40 hrs a week. And wonder how the next payroll is going to be met.... So the next time you decide to rant some bull____ review over some inconsequential item because you are not happy with you own life. Think again. Is it really that important for you to post. #1 Ive owned a small business #2 ask yourself did my order get met? #3 were you over charged? #4 use a little empathy before you open your or decide to start typing. Thanks for your time....

I love the feel of a diner! What I realized, and no fault to this business, is that I really dont like diner food. I came here with my friend for brunch. Note: they do not have mimosas here. They do have beer and I believe wine, but not mimosas. I ordered the corned beef hash. It was okay. It was better than, what I like to call, dog food variant of corned beef hash which ends up looking like mush on your plate. The hash browns that came with it were over cooked and burnt on the edges. My eggs were tasty as was the sour dough toast I got. There wasnt anything that stood out at me. The service was friendly and they were really fast. I wouldnt tell someone to not come here, but its not a spot Ill go out of my way to eat at again.

We waited about 20 minutes to be seated (table of 4). Then we were seated and we waited patiently for about 15 minutes and then we started to try and call a waitress over to order. A waitress came over and said she would go get our waitress. Our waitress walked straight passed us and took and order from a table of 4 that was just seated and she would not look our way. So we waited about 10 more minutes and left. Terrible service.

Very good quality food and a splendid wait staff. This was my first visit and I enjoyed the patty melt very much. A little greasy for my taste, but I liked the atmosphere enough to warrant a next visit. There are many restaurants in the locality, all of which are very good, but I suggest you try Manor Coffee Shop. It is very unique.

slow, slow service for a midweek brunch (not a weekend); the staff seemed overwhelmed for a cafe that was only half-full....when the order did arrive, it was incomplete; the waitress was informed, said she would take care if it, then promptly forgot / ignored....this used to be a decent place to eat....dont know what happened......

So wonderful since they reopened a few weeks ago. Something for everyone. Their prime rib french dip sandwich is wonderful. Their french fries done in such fat are amazing. Keep up the great work, guys! Their special dinner items are also yummy. The menu shown may not be accurate because of the new owners. It is much better now.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!! Omg! worst coffee shop ever! Do not shop here! The coffee was that cheap grind you buy at Safeway, the food was low quality and overpriced, and the service was appalling! Nancy didnt want to accept credit card for two eggs, two sausage, and a cup of black coffee, that totaled $15! Wow.. STAY AWAY!

Ignore reviews older than June 2016 because they have been bought and have rennovated. New owner/chef added tasty twists to traditional diner menu, e.g. frog legs, duck fat fries. New decor kept the diner feel but clean and light. Wait staff is nice and check back on us.
