Fantastic coffee and service, bagels and pastries, even oatmeal. Theyll make your drink to order and dress it to your taste. Coffee that tastes of what it is, its strong and will wake you up. No watery brown stuff here. Roasts are tasty and theres many of them. If youre not sure where to start, Tesora is a good point. Iced coffee is also strong and delicious. Phil himself is a good dude, and while Ive never seen him at this spot, he regularly hangs at the mission SF location and greets customers. His son even (used to?) work the coffee counters. The only drawback is that theres usually not many spots to sit and enjoy, since there are a lot of laptop campers most of the time. If its nice outside, theres usually outdoor seating available. The counter is quick, so even if theres a line you dont usually wait too long. Staff is always great.

Phillz coffee is the best coffee in the world, but my review is based on customer service. If you never been to Phillz, their set up on how you order can be a little confusing, and although the concept is the same throughout all the chains, the layouts vary. So, the first time I walk into this place, I accidently walked through the exit. I thought I was standing in line and was next. When one of the girls, a bleached blond skinny girl with dark eyebrows looks at me, I smile in anticipation of being next but she just rolled her eyes with sn irritated look. Then I noticed proplr entering on the opposite side of the cafe and realized I was on the wrong side. Now I went from being next in line to third. Why didnt anyone say anything out of courtesy when I was standing on the wrong side? That was bad customer service.

I kept seeing those damn cups, I had to try it. I love black coffee, but Philz seems like the gateway drug for black coffee drinkers to start ruining it with cream and sugar. The way they ask you if you want cream and sugar suggests its the only way to drink it. I thought I was going to a legit coffee spot with no frills. It feels a little gimmicky with the overly dramatic pouring technique and drinks that sound like the names given to spoiled San Francisco children. I will try them again, it wasnt bad. I guess I was just expecting something else.

I really dig this joint! The staff - They smile. They can also get creative behind the counter. Ask for some off the menu blends... The place is clean and the coffee is mean. Straight forward pricing for a cup of joe too. $2 for a regular and $4 for a large. Feel free to hop on their wifi and if youre lucky enough to find some space, go ahead and setup camp for a bit. They wont mind if you do some studying or busy work while enjoying their brew. You can also order ahead for your "sip-in" or carry out convenience.

Usually Philz coffee is pretty good and has decent service but they have started to slack in service over the last couple months. This morning I went in and they had lost the coffee I ordered only 10 minutes prior and then served me the worst breakfast sandwich Ive had yet. They have stopped giving tapatio packets with their dry sandwiches as well, I think I might have to go back to Starbucks which is really sad to say because at least their food is appealing and ready when I come to pick it up rather than lost...

If you have never experienced Philz coffee, you ought to. You know that acidic taste you are used to getting with your coffee, their unique way of making it takes that bite away. Every blend has hints of flavors ranging from chocolate to fruit and nuts and caramel, natural flavors of the beans not artificial additions. Its a coffee experience you wont want to miss especially if you really love coffee.

Philz serves the BEST coffee in the bay. Ive tried my fair share of coffee places and I like Philz the most. Maybe its because the baristas make the coffee for you and know how to make it best whereas at other "good" places I get the coffee and mess up when adding sugar, but regardless I would go here every day if it were closer to me. Here that? Open one in Emeryville, please!

Philz is legendary coffee. Not kidding just come here and order a simple coffee and be blown away that you never tasted coffee that good before. It was really eye opening the first time I came here by accident. I didnt know I was drinking coffee wrong my whole life. I can never make it as good as they do for some reason. I come in here to get a hand pour every chance I can.

This Philz location is relatively close to I80 so if youre in the mood for a jolt of caffeine and have 15 min for a coffee detour, then stop in. The location matches the industrial style of the Gilman Berkeley area and it has large garage doors that open up in the spring/summer. The baristas are fast, friendly per usual and I rarely have a long wait here.

Nice atmosphere inside, a smaller space but reasonably sized. Not much inside table seating for working, especially with computer. Parking lot usually full or close to it but there is bike parking and more spots on the street. Place is pretty hard to spot from on Gilman going west, youll have better luck any other direction through the intersection.

Have been drinking decaf to help empathize with my pregnant wifes forced decaffeination. Philz offers many kinds of decaf (unique amongst all coffee places Ive been), and they are *all* amazing. They are so good I dont even miss normal coffee when Im drinking here. Philz is amazing. Philz has changed my life.

This Philz location offers the standard delicious Philz Coffee and seems to make it at a reasonable rate so it is not too long of a wait to get your coffee if theyre not swamped. The employees are very sweet and complimented my outfit. I recommend this location even though the parking is very limited.

I love their coffees! I really like the staff in all the locations Ive been to; they actually speak. LOL! They are friendly, helpful when asking about the selection & they actually genuinely thank you. I wish there were more around or closer to me. Coffee may he a bit expensive but it is so delish!

Lovely staff, interesting next-level coffee. And they hooked me up with a free cup of some coffee I had never tried before. The super cool staff also knows a lot about the coffees and will explain to you whatever you want to know about the wide assortment of drinks they offer.

I love this Philz coffee place! I go there very often, almost four or five times in one week! There style in which they run the cafe is a little diffrent from the others and the employees are super friendly! Its a great place to chill to and take sips of your coffee

I dont know how they do it, but its the best coffee Ive ever had. I say that having experienced a full range of Portland, Seattle, and San Fransisco coffee shops. I usually get a blend of ambrosia and anesthesia, but everything is great.

In a coffee drinkers paradise this is the best coffee around. Philtered soul is my favorite. Memories as well as milk sugar Etc to your taste, and they hand for every cup. They also have specialty pastries sandwiches available.
