Dont expect to rent a surf board if you are a stranger (not from SF) and if waves exceed 1m (3 feets) in height. The boss (that you most likely wont be able to see) dont want to rent you some board because you "dont know the swell"... I came a two time, but apparently I wont be able to Surf in USA. Aside from that, they looks to have good equipement to sell, and also have some second hand surf board. -- Nespérez pas pouvoir louer une planche si vous nêtes pas du coin et que les vagues dépassent 1 mètre de haut. Le patron (qui ne semble jamais être vraiment là) ne veux pas louer de planche si on "ne connait pas le swell"... Apparemment ça serait lun des plus fort du monde... Faut sortir un peu de son pays les gens ^^ Jy suis revenu deux jours plus tard sur les conseils du vendeur, pour venir surfer les vaguelettes auxquelle javais droit. Mais manque de chance le swell était revenu plus tôt que prévu, donc je ne surferai pas au USA... Mis à part cela, il semble avoir du bon matériel à vendre. Ils ont aussi des planches doccasions à vendre.

Would give it 0 stars if I could. Walked in and courteously said hello to three employees who all looked at me at once as if I walked into their private living quarters. After I responded with a socially normal how is it going? they vacantly stared through me and then began acting busy as if putting things in their places. I quickly found my family who had entered earlier and we vacated the premises without a purchase. It was as if we werent there. Its as if they never existed. Hence the well deserved 0 stars if that was possible. But maybe this is just a hipster san francisco thing....too cool for school?

Having to save some money by avoiding flying with our own boards, we had to rent some and found the experience at Aqua Surfshop quite delightful. Knowing how it goes with localism and surf, we figured we would be shunned and scolded as the rented soft tops were thrown at us; this was not the case. We came into a very chill environment with quite a selection of nice surfboards for rent. The people working there were extremely nice and did not hesitate to recommend some great boards. Go here if you want to rent anything. Also, check out the beach break right up the street, it is great fun!

Aqua has a great selection of boards, and is run by a bunch of dudes who know exactly what theyre talking about. They spent time helping me find the perfect wetsuit, and have a huge selection of both mens and womens clothes and other surf accessories. Theyre a great shop and throw some rad events for the community too.

Ive been coming to Aqua for years and love this shop. The crew that works there are knowledgeable and always stoked to get you the right gear. Theyve been doing some awesome events lately with local bands and food vendors that bring a solid group of people together from the community.
