As my title clearly suggests, the folks at this gun store make you feel like dirt....that is..unless you are white. I am not screaming for the NAACP here, but that is the impression I recieved during my first and only visit to this store. I am in the market for a compact 9mm, something light, reliable, and easy on the eyes. I walk in, and there are four older white males hanging around(they must be regulars). I asked one of them for help and he told me that he did not work there. The employee slowly made his way to me from his spot of doing absolutely nothing. I told him that I was looking for a 9mm and he pointed to the guns under the glass...all of them. Not only was this young man unhelpful, he did not show any signs of customer service or reaction to even want to help me find my next firearm. I asked him for his personal opinion and he did not care to give it to me. Gun stores are speciality hobby stores. People who walk into them generally are excited about purchasing something, and have at least some knowledge of those types of products. They do not want to be treated like second rate citizens and made to feel awkward in an industry that is already predominantly white males. I wonder if my service would have been any different had I pulled out the wad of hundreds in my wallet and put them on the counter before asking to see a gun? Probably not though, the level of customer support was non-existing and the lack of enthusiasm from the employee blatantly shows that he did not care to help a customer find the right gun for him. But isnt that what his job description essentially is? I mean all he had to do was show me a few guns and I would have bought something. We are talking about a guy who walks into anyother gun stores and buys two or three guns at a time. If this store is to fight this economic time, where guns is not a necessary thing for people to buy, they will need to show that they are there to sell guns. And not only that, but the idea that they are there for anyone who wants to talk about firearms, compare differences in firearms, and guide customers with their expertise about making the right gun purchase. They should hire people who like guns for one, because if this guy did, he did not show it to me; and hire the type of people that will make sales for them with good old fashioned customer service. Again, they should think about not only the $800 sale this missed out on today from me, but the potential thousands and tens of thousands of dollars in lost business from my future sales--not to mention my friends who might have gone in and purchased something. So, unless you are white, try another gun store, because these guys will not give you the time or respect. They clearly let other guys, who are white, hang around, not buying anything, but treat them like old friends. Oh yeah. I am asian. I own and collect guns. I am never going back to this place again.

The place is an utter mess. Know one knows how to put anything away. If my kid left his room like this place, he would be grounded. Selection isnt good. They are missing entire categories that every gun shop should have. Prices: Price gouging on AR ammo. 10 rounds of 223, cheap no-name stuff, for $10. 50 rounds of cheap 556 for $44.99. They are taking advantage of the demand. That is not unusual, but to charge over double the price, that is Price Gouging and customer remember that. Make more margin in the short run, but loose the customer in the long run. The big issue I have is the service: Holy crap, Ive never heard so much vulgar language in my life. They werent even talking about anything terrible, just F*** this and F*** that. They must have dropped the F-bomb like 50+ times. The worst thing about it was the owner was right there in the thick of it. Completely unprofessional. Im a guy, I can deal with fowl language, but I felt like I was at a 9th grade after school hang out. I hope the owner reads this and really focuses on rebuilding this businesses reputation that is perceived by his customers or would have been customers.

Update regarding my shotgun that was shipped to these guys... UPS dropped it off on Friday and today is Monday and they still hadnt called me to tell me my gun arrived. I cant go until Wednesday anyway so I thought I would see how long it would take them to cal me. But I digress... I called today at the end of the day (Monday) to ask if they had received my shotgun from UPS and getting the guy to check was like pulling teeth I basically had to prompt him to do everything. He says "Im not sure if weve checked your gun in". Long pause. I said "ok would you like my name then you can check and see?" Pause... "ok". Then he says its there behind 11 other guns that need to be checked in first which didnt really make sense. So I asked him to explain which led to a heavy sigh and another long pause and then an answer in an exasperated tone which didnt make sense, so then after more prodding he says "Ill probably get around to it tomorrow". To make a long story short... Im done with these guys. As soon as I pick up my shotgun I will not be giving them anymore of my business.

Marin firearms has some potential (good inventory etc.) but the customer service is horrible. Reading the review below me I had to laugh because I am VERY white and they treated me like dirt too. Hey atleast they treat everyone like dirt equally right? I bought from the store once because no one else had what I wanted but from now on I will avoid the store as much as possible and make sure others do too. Way to go guys.... way to run a business. The only reason I rated them 2 stars was that after awhile of them being a total jerk to me I was a jerk back and they finally started to become helpful. I shouldnt have to do that to get service. Dont buy from them. Go somewhere with good customer service.

WATCH-OUT for the sales-dude TREVOR. He has proven to be dishonest, lazy, and he plays games. Its a funny time right now with impending CA gun laws and with demand so high. Trevor is on to this, so hell be off doing some menial task like counting empty boxes and meanwhile completely ignoring your presence. WORST OF ALL, HE SOLD ME A BRAND NEW FIREARM WITH WHICH I WAS NOT FAMILIAR, AND HE DID NOT SHOW ME THE "RUNDOWN", e.g. how to use it safely, which is a CA State regulation. Just rang me up and moved on to a hopefully more lucrative customer, I guess. I dont know why the owner keeps Trevor. Probably for some f.u. reason. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

I had a very positive and smooth first gun purchase at Marin Firearms. The staff were helpful and the manager threw in a free gunlock and a few other small items. I know the shop recently changed management - so I may have gone after the reviews below were written as I had a very positive experience. Who ever left the comment a few below who said" they make you feel like dirt unless you are white" may be over reacting. I am not white and I think their service was good. I used to shoot at bullseye quite a bit and the guys there are awesome too. I dont think there should be any argument or comparison between the two. both good shops.
