Heard about this place from a friend and was intrigued--a little burger joint owned by the people behind the venerable Michaels on Naples and Michaels Pizzeria? Hmmmm, and after reading the early glowing reviews, it was on! My coworker and I came by for lunch on a Wednesday and had no problems finding parking on Anaheim. Parking on Coronado itself can be a tricky proposition, and the little parking lot next to the place seems to get filled up pretty fast. Its a pleasant little hipsterish place: lots of re-purposed wood, design-y fixtures, a meat case filled with sustainable offerings. Wouldnt be out of place in Portland, really. So you order at the counter and they bring out the food to you. I had to get the burger, of course. I got mine cooked medium with cheese and avocado, with an order of fries. They have free water by the door, which was cool, along with little containers of ketchup ready to go. On my first visit we had to wait about 10-15 minutes for our food, which seemed long, but I think we got there right on the tail of a surge. We sat at one of the little tables outside and it was a pleasant day so it wasnt too bad. When our burgers finally came out I had to pause for a bit to behold this thing of beauty: large but not obnoxious, the substantial patty oozing with cheddar and perfectly ripe avocado, topped with a glossy brioche bun, mmm. It tasted even better than it looked--so juicy and flavorful, everything in harmony. The fries are very thick-cut and pretty good, but could have been crispier. Good, not great. The burgers, though, were AWESOME. We both loved our burgers a lot. The burgers start at $7, and each add-on is like a $1 or $1.50 (they even have a $4 foie gras add-on, but Im boycotting that), so it does add up, but I wouldnt say paying $10-$11 for a burger of this caliber is outrageous. God knows Ive paid more for less on many occasions! I went back a couple of weeks later determined to try something else on the menu, and settled on the corn dog. Id read an LA Times article about them and they were raving about the corn dog so I had to try it. It was very brown when it came out so I was afraid it was too overdone, but nope, it had a perfectly crisp exterior, not too much breading (which I think had some blue corn in it?) and a big spicy sausage inside. Like a dope I didnt check to see if they had mustard inside (they did) so I didnt eat it with any mustard, which I probably really needed to bring everything out. The fries were a little crisper this time and better, so that was a plus, but I missed the burger. Next time :(

Burgers made with fine ingredients and a highly inviting butcher case should earn full marks for this place, but these strengths arent enough for a good rating. One post mentioned the awkward seating...yeah okay, minus one star. Another reviewer mentioned the sullen service, which is right on the mark. Lets just say that no amount of sullen is going to magically transport you from the Walgreens lot across from a Food 4 Less to Avenue 59 or Abbot Kinney. Nope. Minus three more stars. Move along. Nothing to see here.

Amazing food. Ive been here twice and I can say I loved everything I have tried. Their Cubano sandwich is to die for, the patty melt is wicked good and the bacon burger was very nice apart from being small. We also ordered their frites with cheese and bacon, needless to say it was a hit. The mighty dry cider was refreshing, and of course mighty dry. The only qualm I have about this place is their pricing... Pretty expensive for a lunch place($12 burger, $10 sandwich), but I think it is worth it

Trendy kitchen that misses the mark. The Chianina burger was good, the patty melt was overcooked and super dry and the $14 poutine was way too expensive for what it was, and.. Poutine only has three ingredients. French fries, gravy and cheese curds. How did you manage to only get the french fries part? The poutine had some kind of chili and melted cheese on it. These should probably be called... wait for it.... Chili cheese fries. These 5 star reviews are handed out way too easily.

This is very trendy and expect a pay or a leg for everything but its worth it. This is definitely a hipster joined just looking at the menu, beer selection and definitely the prices. The burger here is pretty tiny but youre paying for the excellent quality. The patty is very juicy and overall this is probably one of the better premium burgers in Long Beach. The butcher shop here provides a lot of variety from sausages two different cuts of meat and even different types of animal.

I love this place as a deli / butcher shop and I like it as a restaurant. House made merguez sausage, guanciale and porchetta? Absolutely. Dont sleep on the rabbit sausage either, its superb. Now I like the food served here, but as a restaurant it runs slowly and the service is usually weak. Butcher is friendly and knowledgable, a very nice guy. Servers are sullen and without much personality. My recommendation is to pick up your meats and cook at home.

This small trendy spot creates a stylish and unique experience but its not all bells and whistles this places one heck of a punch with its burger. I ordered a burger with cheddar cheese and avocado with fries and not only was it one of the most satisfying burgers Ive ever had but one of the most satisfying meals the burger was perfect the portion was perfect the fries were perfect. Ive found a nice spot to treat myself now and again.

I was excited about the place before going! I thought, hey a butcher shop, good quality products- could be good. I have a tried and waited a couple of months before going back, thinking maybe they wouldve worked out the kinks. But no! Food wasnt anything special, no really taste to it. Prices had nothing working class about it, unless working class means earning $30 dlls an hour. And service was terrible!

The burger was good (the cook on it was perfect) but not the best Ive ever had ( a bit greasy? or juicy? I couldnt identify the liquid, but there was a ton lol ) Love how they grind all their meat fresh and I think the variety of unique meat offerings is pretty cool. I think next time Ill pick up a sausage or some rabbit to cook at home :)

Over priced with bad quality bread and cashiers living in the lala world while I was waiting for my order, I was asked by the coock not the cashier what I was waiting for and turns out my order was just sitting there. Not a place to go back to. Have to admit the Turkey Ham was good and fresh.

This place has the best breakfast sandwiches. The egg and bacon is the best!Usually not too crowded. The only time that the line is long is on Saturdays but even then they are quick. I thoroughly enjoy your breakfast! Do not change it!

Way over priced for half a chicken, potato salad was bland n my chicken was still pink inside. I would have returned my order but decided Ill just never return. Sad part is I heard many good things about this place....not from me tho
