I am relatively new to biking, and was afraid of going into a shop that would make me feel even less knowledgeable than I already am. The staff at Sharp was fantastic. They recommended several bikes for my needs (commuting to school and other small rides), spreading over several price ranges. I never felt like I was being pushed towards a more expensive bike; to the contrary, the salesperson actually recommended one of the less expensive models because it was a better fit for my needs. The advice was great (the bike is awesome), the sales staff was very knowledgeable (i brought a friend who knew a lot more about bikes and he was very impressed), and I couldnt be happier. On top of everything, the price was cheaper than any website (at least including shipping), and I got to take my bike home that day! This place should be 4.5-5 stars all around; if youre in town, you would be doing yourself a disservice by not at least stopping by. Ive dropped in a few times to get my bike serviced, and the people are always very friendly and even ask how my school is going. (I actually miss them now that Ive moved away... I need to find another small business feel bike shop to fill the void.) I dont get the two bad reviews. Who knows, maybe they were written after a long ride uphill in the rain. Either that, or the staff has completely changed since those reviews took place (doubt it). For those of your who are far more advanced than I am, this place also looked to have the top of the top of the line for those who are in need of a quick and light road bike. As for me, I would say Im a few years away....

This is the place I recommend to a friend and it was recommended to me by a friend. We bought several bikes and equipment at Sharp bicycle. My experience was absolutely positive and I have nothing negative to say about the shop. We were looking for a road bike for my fast growing 14 year old son and wanted something that lasts for a while. We were shown a last years model saving us a lot of money and Matt Sharp fitted my son professionally on a bike that will last him several years. And yes, he will refit him when he has grown out of the old fit. Sharp spent hours helping us to find the best bike for the money. They also exchanged parts to make them fit to my body (long legs, short torso) so I can ride without pain - priceless. When I wanted a bike computer with a different strap for the heart rate monitor, they talked with their rep and got me what I wanted at no extra charge. Sharp takes a lot of time to give the best advise and service possible and sometimes it takes a few minutes until they are done working with another customer. Dont worry you will receive the same attention as the previous customer. Just say "hi" when you walk in the shop and be sure they have seen you. Expensive? No, actually not. Go on the Trek website and compare the MRSP with their prices. They sell below MRSP + free professional fitting + excellent advise + superb post sales service. This place competes on quality and service at an excellent price. If you think other places are cheaper do a true side by side comparison, then add the extra services, especially the fitting, and then you decide were you want to buy your bike.

I took my special baby stroller for multiples, which needed tube replacement inside the tires. I also stopped by there just to get some air in the tires. Whenever I went there, I felt they never care about me. No one greeted me until I approached to them (even though I was quite visible, since I was standing in front of the register.) When I asked them to take a look at the tires of the stroller, to see if they needs new inner tubes, they were reluctant to do so, telling me that they had other jobs to do. When I wanted to put the air into a tire on another occasion, they reluctantly handed the manual air pump to me, to tell me to put the air by myself (while I still have my babies on the stroller.) Simply, I felt that they just dont care about me. I came to think that I am not a kind of the customer that they wish to deal with. I never went back there since, since there are so many nicer and kindler bike shops around Lamorinda.

I love this place. When I moved to Moraga, I thought I would be "smart" and buy our bikes at a big box store. What a big mistake. We wound up with three lemons for the family. When my son outgrew his bike, two or three years later, we went to Sharp. What a difference. We spent a little more, but we got a much better bike, professional advice, and we got him a bike that has been wonderful, unlike the old lemon that was heavy, clunky, and had a terrible gearing system (which is a killer when you live in a hilly area). As a plus, I have never experienced _any_ sales pressure from them. Last time we stopped by, looking for a bike for our then first grader, they actually advised us _not_ to buy a time, because she wasnt tall enough for a new frame, and her old bike was still ok for her. Talk about honesty. Flat tire? I stop by, and I get it changed for a reasonable fee. Sharp has become our bike place, they earned it.

My new bike spot in the East Bay! Place was great.... inventory is out of this world, and the staff was all very friendly. I went in looking for a new Trek, and Matt helped me navigate to what I needed. Talked to him and his wife for a few minutes... probably the most chill shopping experience Ive ever had. While I was in there, there were a couple parents looking for kids bikes, and also (from the looks of it) a couple hardcore bikers. Definitely serves all bike lovers at this joint. Location is pretty sweet too... not too far from Bart, and some cool restaurants nearby. I went to a great italian-style pizza place that was about a 2 minute bike away! If youre in the Easy Bay and in the market for a new bike, I would definitely recommend checking this place out first.

I was in a hurry for some carbon assembly paste. They ran out of their little small one time serving packets ($5). So the sales man decided to squeeze me some from their tube of Finish Line fiber paste for $5. He tells me that whole 1.75 oz of it costs $35. I found it suspicious but I was in a pinch and didnt have the time to question him. Well guess what that $35 tube of Finish Line Fiber paste can be bought online from Bike Nashbar for $7 regular price. Stupid me for not doing my research on the price but dishonest of these guys marking up a simple tube of paste 500%. This place has lost my business and my respect forever.

I was very pleased with my experience with Dee and the rest of the staff. I took in my Cannondale R3000 and expected to get the overhaul, a new chain, and the works.. but after talking to Dee he looked at my machine, measured my chain, and recommend the deluxe tube up as my bike was not in as bad of shape as I thought. When I picked my bike up it was perfect... now my shoes broke and they also gave me a great deal on shoes. Overall very pleased, brought another bike in for them to work on and will be pleased with the results on that ride as well. Thanks guys.
