Im known by "Tory McGowan". This is the best two story book shop with relics, and a to the detail Sherlock Holmes office/apt, and another shoppe upstairs. You can find a velvet chair in nook or cranny in the labyrinth upstairs and down a cat may curl up in your lap, coffee given. Ive sat by the window upstairs curled up with an old book while I watch it pouring rain outside, is there anything in the world more PERFECT? No. Go check it out if you love books. They also sell dvds, cds & vinyls downstairs. If I could give it ten stars I would. They also put on period plays. I attended the Houdini seance it brought quite a crowd in the Holmes dorm. Amazing night#

Impressive selection of books from a variety of subjects and ages. Old and modern. And all classically organized. In the upstairs there is an entire Sherlock Holmes floor dedicated to books and pub, honey store, tea shop, clothing store, and olde apothecary. Lots to do and look at and buy, but best of all, sit and take in the literature.

There was a time this store was a spectacular place with two floors of used treasures and a kind helpful staff. Now the majority of stock gone while there are books glued to the wall. The staff are too good to look up at you to help you spend your money. Once upon a time a wonderful shop. Now a disappointment

What an incredible to store to have in an area like Amador County. You feel transported to different locations and eras as you navigate the cramped aisles. If you love reading and the adventure of discovering different types of literature, this is a must visit.
