Well it is a home depot.... 1. Its "warehouse like" it says because it IS a warehouse. 2. Some reviewers have complained about the employees... I would like to defend the majority of employees at home depot, especially this one. They, in my experience, have been generally courteous, and try to be helpful. I have not been yelled at, been spoken to rudely, or cussed at by any of them and I have been to this location hundreds of times since it was first open. I dont doubt that some may be stoned or high, but never has it caused any problem, nor has been overly obvious. This is Oakland if you dont know, and being stoned or high is common. There is a reason why Oakland is #1 most diverse city in the US. That said the employees are not always knowledgeable, nor always correct, but if you think they are bad, stupid, or useless, then please take a small trip from this store to the target ~800 ft away and ask for a "grommet", an "25A auto fuse", or "epoxy". OR go to the target on Geary Blvd in San Francisco, and ask for anything there. Ask for bbq accessories, or a 3/8 inch socket. Or anything with a descriptor not usually heard on "sesame st" or "mighty morphine power rangers" and you will understand what useless really is. 3. Security guards are a bit assholish. I came at 959, had door closed in my face and the dickwad guard says to come back tomorrow at 6am. I told him its not time to close yet, because its not, but he insisted on being a jackass. Ill remember that if Im operating the door on the escape pod :) 4. Its not the employees, but the jackasses in corporate. Here is a picture of the new closing time..... seriously? Daylight savings is over, dont forget to change your clocks 1 hour back. Yeah I know to change my clocks dipshits. But you closing an hour earlier has ZERO to do with it. We change the clock so that your dumbasses dont have to change yours!! Capiche??? No? Probably not. But think on it, or ask it on google. Only one party needs to change the clock, or change operating hours for the daylight savings thing to work.....NOT BOTH. usless.

I have been to this Home Depot many times, and still go occasionally for the low prices and because I can almost always find what I want there (because after a major remodel of my new house, I now know the store quite well), but I always prepare myself mentally for the most miserable shopping experience I can imagine. To say that the employees are unprofessional and unhelpful doesnt begin to paint the picture. I have not one, but many experiences like the one another reviewer describes about employees who cant be bothered to do their jobs. The store is a little like an out-of-control high school. Go somewhere else if you can. Ashby Lumber, OSH, Truitt and White. As a footnote, Ill add that an older employee named Mike that hangs out with the power tools has always been quite helpful, and Ive had good experiences with one or two others. Its funny how a good employee really stands out in a place like the Emeryville Home Depot. But its sad to think that these few good eggs get paid the same as (or at least not much more than) the flunkies that make up the major portion of their crew.

I came here after visiting East Bay Nursery and there were few more plants and pots we needed. Good selection of indoor and outdoor plants. Great variety in terms of plant types and sizes. Unbeatable prices compared with smaller size nurseries. Lots of options in terms of nursery pots (not the heavy duty ceramic ones) but didnt like their overall shape. Pots were way too big for the plants we bought but got few pots since I was in need. Might need to change later or if we repot. Definitely not the same feeling compared to local and smaller nurseries where you get so much one on one time with the shopkeeper but this was more affordable for us. We ended up buying 8 pots and 6 plants such as 2 snake plants for the bedroom (was very pleased with size, quality and price), 1 bromeliad plant, 1 ming aralia, 1 peace lily and 1 croton petra (good size and price).

The lines are always long and they DO NOT care because their are so few Home depots within a workable distance. The staff, with few exeptions...knows nothing...which is the trend these days and may not be HDs fault, still...you feel like criminal from the get-go. YES the staff is courteous but that is not enough. Overall, the customers are edgy when approaching the check out and you may experience grief from fello shoppers if you are not careful. Heaven forbid you not notice the line and mistakenly "take cuts". Andfor good reason,my average check-out time has been 30 minutes over the past several years. Forget it and go to Urban Ore...more fun and you get quirky help that is due to lifestyle choices...not frustration!

Easy parking and thee is always space near the entrance that is most convenient to get to the item Im looking for. The staff is helpful although most times it takes a long time to find someone thats free to help. Plan to wait at least 15-30 min. They have a great selection of items and inventory. They also offer pickup at the store. You can order online with free delivery to the store and at the front just past the return area is the pickup counter. I ordered a roof from them that leaked. They say the roof has a 50 yr warranty but I waited over a month with no luck getting someone out to fix the leak. I had to call a contractor to come and fix it. They did a good job on most of the roof.

For some real frustration, try calling this store. For over a month, I have wanted to schedule someone to lay down the tile we ordered. The project has been meausured (a nice guy came out) and we have picked the product. We just want to get the job done. You would think Home Depot would want our money, but each time were just put on hold. After 10 or 15 minutes, the call will be dropped. Im writing this while I am waiting once again. This time, Ive cumulatively been on the phone for an hour. . . . . Theres the dial tone . . . I was just dropped again.

The last time I was there I needed some help bringing down some wood paneling of the racks with a forklift and every worker I asked they all said this is not our department, so I told them that doesnt matter because they are suppose to help the customer. So 5 workers were just standing there looking at the wood like it was coming down by it self so I asked them where does homedepot hire you guys from because you guys are worthless so they ended up not helping. So then a philipino lady ended up bringing the the wood down. Nice lady.

Your typical, bustling Home Depot with the plethora of options in everything and that nice musky scent of wood and dust that is native to every one of these reliable neighborhood providers. Ive generally found employees at Home Depot to be very helpful and this one is no exception, although you may have a bit of a wait to speak with one sometimes. This store in particular is usually quite busy and it CAN be a little bit of a wait when in line for checkouts or returns, or just to get the help of any wandering worker.
